Four bedrooms, two bathrooms; Perfect for larger families or groups; Spacious!

Chapel Garth is an imposing property set on the upper part of the High Street at the foot of Staithes Bank adjacent to the Bethel Chapel. The house underwent major renovation work in 2014 which created a fantastic holiday property set over 4 floors. Chapel Garth has been finished to a very high standard and offers many facilities for the holiday maker, but its two key advantages over other cottages in Staithes are parking for up to two cars on a private driveway (we also provide a separate parking permit just in case you have larger vehicles) and a self contained patio to the rear with elevated views over Roxby Beck towards Cowbar. Chapel Garth is set over 4 floors and has spacious living accommodation which is perfect for holidays and short breaks throughout the year. Full central heating and pressurised hot water system. Open fire on ground floor. Free Wi-Fi access. The patio gets afternoon/evening sunshine in the summer months and has a large table and chairs and BBQ. Chapel Garth enjoys the perfect location in the heart of Staithes with easy access to local shops, pubs and restaurants and is only a short walk to the seafront.

We had a wonderful relaxed weekend in the delightful village of Staithes.

The period cottage had been delightfully modernised whilst maintaining its original features and charisma . It was tastefully furnished , very comfortable and we couldn't have asked for anything more . Simply wonderful .

Perfect cottage in beautiful Staithes

Honestly one of the best holiday homes any of have stayed in, anywhere. And we're fussy, well-travelled, globe-trotting bunch, so it takes a lot to impress us. The cottage is beautifully renovated, the furnishings are elegant and classy and the whole place has a wonderful, inviting feel to it. The pictures make the cottage look good but actually they don't do it justice. The cottage feels even bigger than it looks in the pictures, and it's not easy to find spacious accommodation in Staithes.

The booking process was seamless. The house was spotless when we arrived and the parking was set up brilliantly.

Staithes is delightful. If you haven't been you must. And make sure you stay in Chapel Garth when you do.

Lovingly restored cottage

We had a fantastic stay in Chapel Garth whis is a spacious property which has been renovated to the highest standard. The layout, furnishings and fittings are first class and we wouldnt hesitate in recommending the property. There is a wide selection of books, games and wifi connection. Having stayed in Staithes before it was a chance to get reacquainted with the village and to meet old friends. It was lovely to return to a lovely warm and comfortable cottage after walking on the Cleveland way or climbing over the rock pools and harbour and exploring the village. The Cod and Lobster pub is one of the best places to eat, and there are a couple of little tea shops and gift shops. The Life Boat shop is well worth a visit.

Stunning renovated cottage with character

First impressions count and I can honestly say you will not be disappointed. Cosy, full of charm very well equipped this cottage has had a brilliant makeover. I and my family enjoyed Christmas 4 day stay, which was made even more welcome with Christmas trees in situ around the house. Excellent property.

Beautiful property and excellent location

The property is beautifully presented and has been tastefully renovated. Perfect location for walks and the local shops & pubs. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend to friends & family. Easy reach of tourist spots and the parking in invaluable here.

Staithes has a small harbour beach which is a short walk from the property, Runswick Bay 5 miles - long sandy beach renowned as the best beach combing beach in Britain, Sandsend 7 miles - beautiful long sandy beach with stunning views towards Whitby and very popular with surfers.


Staithes is on the main bus route from Middlesbrough to Whitby with hourly services. Stations - Saltburn by the Sea 9 miles, Whitby 9 miles. Airports - Durham Tees Valley 25 miles, Leeds Bradford 75 miles, Newcastle 75 miles. Use of a car is not essential, but recommended.


Whitby 9 miles, Saltburn by the Sea 9 miles, North York Moors Railway at Grosmont 11 miles, Scarborough 28 miles, York 45 miles.

Further Details:

Two local pubs The George and Cod & Lobster in the village plus The Cleveland Corner bistro, an intimate dining experience and the newly reopened Endeavour Restaurant. In Dalehouse there is the Fox & Hounds and in Hinderwell the Badger Hounds offering good pub food. All are within 10 minute drive or 30 minute walk if you are feeling energetic! Further afield there are many award winning restaurants in Goldsborough, Sandsend and Whitby.
