Welcome to Westhope Country Retreats. Self Catering Holiday Cottages in rural Shropshire. Middle Westhope Farm has been in the Manley family for over 100 years. It is still a working farm but have carefully converted some of the old farm buildings into self catering accommodation. The Westhope valley is a well kept secret being just 5 miles from the main A49. The valley is a delightful hideaway with few dwellings, beautiful scenery and a wide range of walks. We are just a few miles from Church Stretton to the North and Ludlow to the South. Church Stretton lies on the edge of the Long Mynd and boasts many interesting antique shops and some breathtaking views. Ludlow has a reputation for good food, unique shopping and regular race meetings at it's racecourse. Nearby is the Acton Scott historic working farm. Craven Arms hosts the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre. We are just 4 miles from Acton Scott the film location for BBC TV's popular 'Victorian Farm' series, broadcast in 2009. It's well worth a visit. In nearby Bromfield is the new Ludlow Food Centre which will have quality local foods on sale, cookery demonstrations plus many interesting activities centred on Ludlow's reputation as a good food centre. Mobile signal is reduced at Westhope.In each property we a land line phone with a trust box which means that you will be able to make and receive calls during your stay. This is the old cowshed where our Frisian cows were originally milked by hand and then by electric machines before progressing to our milking parlour in 1972. Special interest holidays:

The scattered village of Westhope stands amidst rolling farmland in the scenic Hope Valley, at the southern foot of the famous Wenlock Edge.

There are lovely walks with rambling and cycle trails along the local paths and bridleways, whilst many of Shropshire's main attractions are within easy driving distance. Enjoy Church Stretton, known as Little Switzerland, with its antique shops and tea rooms, surrounded by the beautiful Long Mynd Hills, the Acton Scott Historic Working Farm or the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre.

The World Heritage Site at Ironbridge, Attingham Park, the market towns of Much Wenlock, Shrewsbury and Ludlow with their medieval castles, excellent shops and restaurants are all within easy reach of this lovely part of Shropshire, as are the lovely village of Clun, the market towns of Bishops Castle and Carding Mill Valley.

Travel:

From Craven Arms take the B4368 road signposted Bridgnorth. After approx 3 miles turn left for Westhope/Ticklerton, (This turning is just after a left hand bend with a dip in the road). Proceed to the village of Westhope (approx 1.5 miles), go straight through the village and you will come to our holiday cottages on the right.

Further Details:

From Shrewsbury take the A49 south to Church Stretton. At traffic lights turn left taking the B4371 for Much Wenlock. Approximately 1.5mile you entrer Hope Bowdler on the sharpe left bend turn right for Ticklerton.Travel approx 1.5 miles until you reach a T-junction in the village of Ticklerton. Turn right travel 50 yards and turn left at T-junction for Westhope. Travel approximately 3 miles and you will enter the village of Westhope. The courtyard of Shropshire Holiday Cottages and Westhope Country Retreats is on the left hand side.

From Much Wenlock Take the B4378 sign posted Craven arms towards Shipton. Turn right on to the B4368 toward Craven Arms. Pass through the village of Diddlebury and pass the left turning for Ludlow. Take your first turning right signposted Westhope and Ticklerton. Proceed to the village of Westhope (approx 1.5 miles), go straight through the village and you will come to our holiday cottages on the right.

Booking Notes:
A 20% deposit is required to confirm any bookings, once the deposit is recieved confirmation booking form will be sent out, all provisional bookings will be held for a time of 24hrs up to a week or to be arranged.

A damages deposit of £250 will be required for large parties. This will be refunded if there is no damage to the property.

Changeover Day:
All properties will be available from 3pm on the day of your arrival and should be vacated by 10am on the day of your departure.

Cancellation / Change of booking

Only if we managed to fill the holiday booking will we consider a refund on the balance, the deposit will not be returned but could be transferred to another booking at a £20.00 charge.

  • Notes on accommodation: We now have a shared gym and games room available to all our guests. The gym consists of cross trainer rowing machine multi gym pilates ball weights TV with freeview water cooler. The games room consists of: pool table table tennis table football children pool table chessboard, games and table stereo mini book library hot drinks machine. Outside: We have built a wildlife pond in the grounds with a seating and picnic area and all around are the woods, fields and hills of the farm. We encourage you, as our guests, to explore the area and make the most of your break. Within the farm we have designated walks which vary in distance - we hope you'll explore the area. The Westhope area has a network of public footpaths, woodlands and meadows; an ideal base for walkers.
