Quaint cottage in the heart of Grassington

A beautiful cottage with plenty of room for a family of eight. There are a few things that need updating in the cottage but overall it was a very comfortable stay equipped with everything that we needed. We loved the easy access to the Grassington square-restaurants, cafes, pubs and shops. A great location for days out to other villages and places in the Yorkshire Dales. Thank you!

A comfortable, well equipped and perfectly positioned property for a family holiday

We stayed here for a week in August with another family of four, and found that the cottage suited us perfectly. Comfortable spaces for teenagers to enjoy the wifi, a lovely and well-equipped kitchen/diner where we could enjoy family meals together while we cooked, very comfy beds and plenty of hot water for baths and showers. The garden and summerhouse were very private and big enough to accommodate us all. Right in the heart of Grassington, we enjoyed walks directly from the cottage, and there was something for everyone in the area.

Great local shops and pubs, and mention must be made of the helpful and friendly neighbours!

Getting out of the garage was a bit a tricky for the less confident drivers, (cue the helpful neighbour!) but fine for most. Plenty of free parking a couple of minutes walk away if you prefer. One of the bedrooms has bunk beds, but this suited our party well.

Week at Grassington festival

We know Grassington well and were going to the Grassington festival for 9 days - 2 weekends. Rented the cottage from Friday to Friday. We then had to move to a B&B 30 yards away, as the owner would only rent it to us on a Fri-Fri or Sat-Sat basis - wouldn't add on the extra 2 days.

The cottage is very handily positioned right in the middle of the village. It consists of 2 or 3 old cottages knocked together. It has plenty of rooms - large kitchen diner with high ceilings opening onto garden, and adjoining utility is a good focal point for meals. There is a cosy sitting room and a second smaller one with a TV.

With 4 bedrooms, the property would be excellent for a party including children, not ideal for our 3 couples. 1 bedroom is a twin and 1 holds a bunk-bed. The master bedroom is large and ensuite, but the 3 other rooms share an upstairs bathroom with no shower, together with a large shower room downstairs.

The cottage was generally well appointed, with one or two details a bit tired which could have easily been fixed.

Service was not as helpful as it could have been. After us not being able to book for 9 days to take in the final weekend of the festival back in January, because someone might want it for the whole of the next week, in the end the owner let it out to a family just for those final 2 days. So he could have been more flexible in the first place, or come back to us when looking at letting it out for 2 days. The back garden was a nice facility for sitting outside when not raining, but the small lawn was overdue for a mow.

More generally, a week at the Grassington festival is a fantastic option for combining making the most of the glorious Dales countryside in the day time with high quality entertainment every night in a pretty small village.

Great house great location well laid out

We love Grassington and stayed at the house with two other couples the house was very clean and the beds very comfortable having a TV room and separate lounge suited us very well the boys watching sky sports and the girls gossiping and drinking wine! The AGA cooker is fab and we made a lovely Sunday roast which we put in and had a few drinks in a The Devonshire whilst it cooked! There's lots of space in the kitchen/dining utility for all you bring along and plenty of equipment for cooking we even used the slow cooker whilst we walked from a Grassington to Burnsall and back! Although the drive looks long there's only room for one car which must go in the garage as the drive is shared we had no problem parking the second car on free car park in front of town hall. Would return to this house with friends or family hopefully in summer and use the lovely garden
