Chalet in Chamonix - Newly renovated and ideally Located Just 5 Minutes Walk To The Main Pedestrian Street

The chalet has been ideally set up for both families and friends with the use of its extensive open plan living/dining area and 4 generously sized bedrooms. Its facilities have been well thought out to make your stay comfortable. It has underfloor heating powered by a geothermal system, open wood burning stove, and even a jacuzzi to enjoy after a long day on the slopes. The chalet offers secure off-street parking and although a car is useful in Chamonix, the chalet's ideal position means you only have to walk 150 metres via a small path (Close des Outannes) to the frequent bus service which services all the main ski areas (free to ski pass holders) or to the Mont Blanc Express which runs all the way from St Gervais through the Chamonix valley on to Martigny in Switzerland. The main pedestrian street in Chamonix, hosting bars, shops and restaurants, is just 5 minutes flat walk from your front door. Equally, in the other direction you are just minutes away from the Gaillands outdoor climbing crag for summer visitors. Les Pecles, from which Chalet Pickles gets its name, is one of the most beautiful, peaceful locations in Chamonix. About the Owner

We fell in love with Chalet Pickles, as we now call it, on a visit in 2012. This 200 year old "ferme" has been totally renovated from the original river stone walls and wooden frame upwards. When you are there you will hopefully be struck by the tranquillity of Les Pecles, the mountain house ambience of the chalet, and the incredible views up to the Mont Blanc Massif and the summit itself. You could spend a week simply going for walks along the valley from the house, and ambling into town. We hope you'll love it as much as we do!

Beautiful Chalet - perfect location

We (family + firends + small kids) stayed in this chalet for 2 weeks in August and had a wonderful time.

Location : just perfect, in a quiet street, walking distance to the center (5-10 mins) : Chamonix gets very crowded in the summer (probably in winter too!) so it was great to be able to walk to shops and restaurants as otherwise it would have been difficult to park - I noticed the car parks were usually full. Its also walking distance to the Brevent lift, although we did the hikes above Flegere more and for that you have to drive - plenty of parking there. You can also jog right from the Chalet and be out on a trail in 2 mins. The UTMB passes right in front of the chalet just before the finish.

Outside : I don't think you can tell from the pictures but the views from the garden/hottub are incredible. the garden was perfect for our kids to play in. The hot tub was great - it gets chilly in the evenings even in summer so a hot tub works better than a pool I would say. Plenty of car parking space (at some point we had 4 cars parked there. Only missing item is a large table to have meals outside - the table only really accommodates 6 people. I suppose it's not often you have dinners outside in Chamonix but we were there during a heat wave!

Inside : the whole kitchen/dining/lounge is open plan, the kitchen was well equipped (only missing a good coffee machine!), rooms are a decent size (not big) and bathrooms are nice and modern. The chalet is beautifully decorated, friends who visited us were very impressed!

Agency : the people from the agency taking care of the chalet were very nice and super useful throughout the stay

All in all a great stay in a beautiful chalet that worked well for our family.

Wow

This chalet is suitable for groups family and couples

It has an easy living space where everyone can eat relax and entertain

The hot tub is fab too many a night in there with the wine

The chalet is well equipped and clean. All furnishings are to a high standard.

Chamonix centre is a 10 min walk away and is full of shops restaurants and in particular les caves and the surrounding pubs are a spectacle

I'm coming back to explore chamonix in Sep 16 in our camper can't wait

And I will hopefully bring my family back June next year mx

Superb Chalet in Ideal location

The chalet is fantastically situated with breathtaking views and easy strolling distance into central Chamonix with its huge variety of cafes, bars restaurants and night clubs. The property itself has been finished to an exemplary standard, catering to every comfort and convenience - and even more in the form of a great outdoor jacuzzi! Very well maintained and offering high quality appliances and super comfortable beds. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone

Fabulous chalet w. abundance of family atmosphere

We have spend our skiing holiday in Chalet Pickles in Chamonix during week 10.

We enjoyed the rich variety of slopes, off-piste areas, restaurants, cosy village, plenty of snow and lots of sun.

We chose to return to Chalet Pickles because it offers us all the facilities our family of eight require, proximity to Chamonix centre (eight minuttes walk) and very high standard. The chalet has been restored with great sense for detail and functionality together with exquisite, aesthetic and delicate taste. The first flor is one big room with a first class modern kitchen, a astonishing view to Mont Blanc, dining area and a huge sofa for those who are in need for relaxation in front of the stove while they can still take part in the conversation between the folks on the cuisine team. The room is filled with a cosy atmosphere supported by a fine balance between modern arrangement and original rustic beam construction. Those who want to relax and look at the stars can do just that in the outdoor jacuzzi.

The ground flor facilitates four double bedrooms of which two have own bathroom. The other two share a large bathroom. All rooms are very high standard and are designed with the same taste and high functionality as the rest of the house. We really have a great "home - away from home feeling" here.

The entrance hall is floored with heated slate stone and is located beside the room with the washing machine and a dryer. There is parking room for 2-3 cars just outside the entrance.

We highly recommend this chalet for families, friends or couples of up to eight people. The service from the operating management company also worked very smoothly. This is a fabulous chalet with abundance of family atmosphere.

Stunning Renovation, Good Central Location

It's been a couple of weeks since we returned from Chamonix (apologies for delay, I was on business in NYC) but I just wanted to email to thank you for letting us stay at your wonderful chalet!

We had an absolutely fantastic week – great conditions and skiing, but most of all we all loved staying in the chalet!!! The whole group have asked me to pass on their thanks and also compliments at the great job you've done in renovating the chalet. Was a great space and we had some fantastic dinners, morning and evening catch ups on the sofas, and of course relaxing in the hot tub!

We'll pass on our recommendations to friends and colleagues, and will no doubt consider the chalet again for next year's group trip!

Perfect accommodation in perfect resort!

This property certainly has the WOW factor!

Everything we could possibly need was provided.

Immaculate and beautifully furnished.

If it was ours we wouldn't want to risk letting it out! Thanks to the owners for trusting us with such treasure!

Chamonix is a perfect resort for a late summer break, with plenty of outdoor pursuits to occupy us, walks, cable car adventures across the alpine peaks, a train up to a glacier and some tandem paragliding, all wrapped up in brilliant sunshine! A perfect break.

We wanted something for all year round. Chalet Pickles is removed from the noise and crowds of the Chamonix centre, but you can walk into town! The valley is vast and offers something for everyone.

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

Chamonix has something for everyone.

Winter facilitates skiing, snow shoeing, dog sledding, cross country skiing, ice climbing and many more activities.

Summer has everything you can imagine. Walking, climbing, biking, swimming, golf, tennis and so much more.

Travel:

Geneva airport is only 50 minute to an hour from Chamonix.

Buses are available or it can be just as easy to get an airport transfer which we can arrange for you.

Distances:

Chamonix main street is only 5 minutes walk from the front door.

Amazing views, a huge living, dining kitchen room of 100 metres looking up through beams and huge glass windows at the mountains. 200 year old vaulted beamed frame with the most peaceful ambience you could imagine. A jacuzzi in the garden behind the house with views north and south and complete privacy. A few minute's drive to the Aiguille de Midi to access the mountains, the Gaillands crags for rock climbing, or the Brevent, Flegere, Les Houches ski areas- not to mention the others. We're spoiling you!

  • Notes on accommodation: We also have a brand new jacuzzi with radio. We ask that you don't disturb the neighbours with late night music. If you require a cot or high chair then please enquire. Outside: Our beautiful garden has incredible views and gets most of the daily sun, being on the south side of the valley. It has large decking with garden table, chairs and umbrella as well as the new 6 person jacuzzi installed just this year. The chalet is right next door to the Cretets Spring which has been in use since 1825 and provides remarkably pure drinking water all year round which is used by many of the locals! Utility Room: In our utility room we have a washing machine, tumble dryer, clothes worktop, iron and ironing board, clothes line and hanging space for your wet jackets, helmets and gloves etc. Underfloor heating and GeoThermal system keeps the room extra warm. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: We will provide you with 100% cotton sheets, a bath towel and hand towel per person. This is provided for the week but if you would like it changed then please enquire.
