Truly wonderful cottage in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

From the lovely welcome from Sharon and a very appreciated welcome pack after a long journey. Everything about our time at this most well equipped cottage and fantastic location was truly magic. Being able to explore the extensive woodland from the bottom of your garden whenever was fab. Wally our dog has never had so many walks. The cottage had everything and was so cosy. The location was in a rural location but only 10 mins from supermarkets etc. There are plenty of glorious beaches we liked Tentsmuir as massive. We also visited Lunan Bay , smaller but great sand dunes and caves to explore . Summing up would jump at the chance to go back. Thank you Sharon & Dave for the best holiday.x

October Weekend Break

  • 4 of 5

On arrival at Monument cottage we were delighted at how secluded this place was ( thankfully the owner had provided excellent directions). Our first impressions of the cottage, after driving past the impressive monument, was of a homely and welcoming accommodation. The superb welcome pack of food was the best I have ever had, bread, home made jam, coffee, tea, shortbread and a selection of goodies in the fridge. As it was October and lashing rain, the owner had set the fire for us, however we felt that the central heating was cosy and adequate. All the bedrooms were clean, spacious and modern, however felt that the living area requires updating. If the weather had been better, this would be an ideal location from where to explore the immediate surroundings, a tranquil and interesting wooded area. Although secluded, this property is also extremely handy for local attractions in Dundee, Arbroath, Carnoustie, Broughty Ferry, Monifieth and we even went to Glamis Castle. Everything one needs was provided, a real home from home and having the owner nearby was reassuring and provided good customer service.

Delightful, peaceful holiday cottage

  • 5 of 5

Everything we could have wanted and more!! The cottage was well equipt, comfortable, spacious yet cosy and absolutely spotless. A lovely welcome basket greeted us on arrival including delicious homemade bread and strawberry jam. The owner, Sharon, made sure everything was as it should be. It was so quiet and peaceful (except for the owls at 4am!) set in 88 acres of woodland. Our girls and dog loved exploring in the woods and adding their own twist to an already built den. It was also rather exciting and scary going on an adventure, later at night with just a torch! I personally loved the fact that I could walk our dog in my PJs!!! Perfect accommodation for a perfect weekend. Thank you!!!!

Well presented, secluded, well equipped.

  • 5 of 5

A beautifully renovated house in a lovely 88 acres of mixed mature woodland. Our chocolate lab was safe and loved wandering and following her nose around the garden and woods. The house offered warm and comfortable accommodation for 3 generations and was incredibly well equipped with everything necessary in the kitchen and also outdoors with plenty of seating and bbq. Sharon even suggested taking chairs etc up onto the monument raised area to enjoy the last of the late evening sun.

A great base to explore the south east coast of Scotland and beyond, depending how far you wish to travel. Golf to die for within 5 miles, stunning beaches, amazing views across the firth to St. Andrews and Fife. We also enjoyed watching the military manoeuvres from MOD Leuchars base (don't forget your binoculars!).

Star gazing would be fantastic if we had had more than one clear night....good dark skies.

Sharon and Dave were perfect hosts, providing a welcome hamper with essentials which was much appreciated and saved us doing an immediate shop. After popping up to see we had settled ok, they left us to it, but were always available should it have been necessary. Always a nod and a wave as we passed their house a short distance down the driveway.

The only thing we could possible suggest to make the stay even better is a second TV.

All in all, a great week with plenty to see and do. Perfect accommodation in beautiful surroundings.

  • 5 of 5

Myself, my husband, our two kids and the dog where made to feel very welcome. Sharon left us a welcome hamper, which was lovely. The cottage is spacious, very comfortable and clean. The cottage is set in a beautiful location, and it has a monument next to it. It was very peaceful and relaxing. The kids had a great time exploring the woodland grounds. We had a lovely holiday.
