About the property

House in Oughterard, Galway, Ireland - 10 Minutes Walk To Nearby Village And Very Accessible To Tourist Activities In The West Of Ireland

‘Cnocadoon’ is a little piece of heaven situated right on the shore of the famous fishing lake - Lough Corrib, the second largest lough on the island of Ireland. What makes this property unique is its upstairs living area with spectacular views of the lake, the high standard of finish throughout, and its accessibility to the vast array of tourist activities in the West of Ireland.

The Cnocadoon Experience

After a comfortable night sleep, wake up in your bedroom in ‘Cnocadoon’ and lie in bed looking out at the beautiful lake with swans and fishing boats passing by, have your breakfast sitting out on the balcony overlooking the lake, then go for a walk down one of the many beautiful roadways near the house and return to a hot power shower, before taking off to Galway city, Ballinahinch or Ashford Castle, Kylemore Abbey, Connemara National Park, Clifden, or Achill Island to name a few. If you prefer, you can sit in the comfortable sitting room and read a book, or go fishing, or potter around picturesque Oughterard village which is only a two minute drive or a ten minute walk away. Complete your day by having a nice meal at the dining table before relaxing in front of a roaring log fire with a glass of wine or beer. If you feel more adventurous there are restaurants and pubs in the village with live music. Without doubt, you will have a wonderful holiday in this beautiful home and fantastic location.

Simply idyllic

  • 5 of 5

Our party of five adults has just returned from a week at Cnocadoon. We were all agreed that the location is simply stunning. Lough Corrib is a very beautiful island studded lake and Cnocadoon has a breathtaking position right on the shore. The sitting room and dining room are upstairs to take advantage of the views plus there is a lovely large balcony equipped with comfortable chairs and dining table. We ate in a couple of evenings and I have to say this is the best equipped kitchen I have come across in a holiday let. The house was spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished. All the beds were extremely comfortable. It is a five minute drive into Oughterard which has plenty of places to eat. We found the food to be exceptionally good. This is a good base from which to explore Connemara and Galway City with the advantage of great pubs and eating places to come back to in the evening. The owners were really helpful with our booking and contact details were left in case we had any problems which we didn't. We would have no hesitation in recommending Cnocadoon and would definitely stay here again.

A wonderfull time

  • 5 of 5

This home is wonderfully comfortable, and our group of six enjoyed our stay very much. All the amenities (shower, clothes washer, etc.) worked well, and John, the owner, was very responsive with an initial problem with internet access. It is very well situated for a variety of day trips to really explore the region. We greatly enjoyed coming "home" at the end of our days to relax by the fire or outside on the patio.

We loved this house

  • 5 of 5

This house is in the most amazing location. You wake up every morning to the birds singing and you bearly need binoculars to see them. The house is very comfortable and accommodated 8 people ( 4 adults / 4 kids) easily. Would definitely recommend this property for easy access to Galway and Connemara

Fabulous

  • 5 of 5

Cnocadoon proved to be the perfect accommodation for a family gathering, in this instance for a wedding. It has a good road connection to Galway and is situated right on the edge of Lough Corrib with spectacular views all around. The house is extremely comfortable and amazingly well equipped, we wanted for nothing. It was literally the icing on the cake!

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful property in a great location. The photos suggest terrific views but they do not do them justice. This is a great base from which to explore Counties Mayo and Galway and close enough to walk to the pubs at Oughterard. The house itself has all the amenities that we required and two families (one of 4, the other of 3) had ample space.

We were all delighted to have found Cnocadoon.
