About the property

Cottage in Hebden, Nr. Grassington, Yorkshire Dales,

Robbin Middle has a spacious and easy to use style which makes it a perfect holiday home. Open the front door into a well equipped kitchen. There is enough space for hanging coats and storing boots too. The dining area (there's space for 6 around the table) leads straight into the sunny sitting room. There are comfortable sofas and fantastic views out over our grounds and up Hebden Gill and the moors beyond. French doors lead out onto your own little terrace with table and chairs and steps down to our gardens and woodland.The cottage has a spacious double room (with 5ft King bed) and small twin room (with 2 full size beds but we suggest this room most suitable for 2 children). Robbin Middle is part of Jerry and Ben's Cottages - you can bring all the family with you if you wanted to - Paradise End (sleeps 8) and Mamie's Cottage (sleeps 5) are next door.

About Fiona Hoole

A local girl! I was born and brought up here. I have lived here full time with my own family since 2004. I'm on hand to organise the family gatherings, grocery deliveries and any help you need during your stay here.

Why Fiona Hoole chose Skipton

Our family bought the cottages in 1971 and started a then unheard of concept of a self-catering holiday in the Yorkshire Dales. ("It'll never catch on." ) Well here we still are. A lot smarter now: you don't put coins in the electric meter and you don't need to bring a sleeping bag! But we are still a family run business and I live just across the road from the cottages for any help you need during your stay.

Our guests are now coming back to enjoy the cottages with their children and grandchildren. Above all I'm proud of that - we must be doing something right! Sometimes we forget how special it is here - but guests remind me with comments, poems and pictures in out guest books - thank you all! In many ways we've stayed the same and yet constantly we upgrade, improve and tweak as we go - more wedding weekends and cycling groups these days perhaps - but at heart we're a great spot for a traditional Dales holiday. Enjoy and thank you if you choose to stay here.

What makes this cottage unique

Location location location! Guests often comment how much they love the situation of this cottage - overlooking our grounds and the stream. They love being able to walk or cycle straight from the cottage with miles and miles to explore. It's the real thing here: dark skies at night, streams to paddle in, wildlife to watch and blasts of fresh country air to enjoy. (Don't panic - it's 30 mins to Harrogate if a Betty's tea, Spa Bath or shopping fix calls...)

  • Description of sleeping capacity: Sleeps 4 (2 Bedrooms) Bedroom 1: a large double room with 5ft wide double bed. Large wardrobe and drawers for clothes storage. Bedroom 2: this room has 2 full size twin beds but no space for clothes storage in here so we think it is perhaps best for 2 children.

Notes:
The cottage is heated by oil fired heating and you have constant hot water. There is a stair gate permanently fitted at bottom of stairs. You have your own small east facing terrace with table and chairs - great for breakfast! There are benches outside the front door for catching the sun at the end of a day's walking. Robbin Middle has steps to Jerry and Ben's shared 2 acres of grounds and woodland and Hebden Beck flows through the grounds Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen and towels are supplied for your stay. We also supply bath mats, hand towels in bathrooms and all kitchen cloths.

Cozy, perfect location

We loved our stay here! Such a great home base to set off around the Dales. The cottage was everything we hoped for and more. Fiona had thought through all the necessaries to get us started and the guides supplied everything else we needed close by. A perfect holiday.

Outstanding!

What a wonderful weekend we’ve just had at Paradise End Cottage!

The accommodation was amazing, so spacious and well equipped and beyond comfortable; extra blankets and cushions everywhere for that extra bit of comfort! We only live an hour away and have walked past it many times; but it feels a million miles away from home! So restful and peaceful. We awoke to see a heron by the stream, spent a good while one evening watching a barn owl hunting 15 minutes walk up the lane. The walks from the door are hard to beat. The children just loved the grounds, especially the swings, and indoors, especially the big TV and corner sofa! We had planned to leave late sunday evening but ended up heading home early Monday morning and delivering children straight to school. I see the cottage is booked all summer holidays this year, but we may get in early for 2016!

Travel:

We do have guests coming here by public transport. We are happy to pick you up from Hebden or Grassington if you give us enough notice. Nearest train station is Skipton (10 miles). Nearest airport is Leeds/Bradford.

Distances:

We are 10 minutes walk from our village of Hebden with a traditional village pub and lovely cafe and tearoom.

5 minutes by car will get you to Grassington with a wide range of cafes, pubs and gift shops. Excellent deli, local butchers and bakery are here. There is also Spar, off licence, cash point and Post Office.

Please support our great local businesses - here's what we love:

You'll need to bring your torch for late night wanderings back from 'The Clarendon' our excellent pub (and village store) in Hebden. It's only 10 minutes downhill from the cottages - but longer on the way back up. Great menu and really useful take out fish and chips too!

We have a lovely vintage tearoom in the village 'The Old School Tea Room'. Many of our guests wander down for a delicious breakfast before the day's walking. You can even book in for a special vintage afternoon tea - a great party idea.

Relish Deli in Grassington does the best (and most enormous) sandwiches for your pack up. Order a pizza to cook back at the cottages and a great range of 'Lazy Days' ready meals. Remember the cook is on holiday too... Also watch out for the dangerously good brownies. It's a good job you're here for the walking. Enjoy!
