Our love affair with this beautiful and friendly area continues and we have two further properties closeby also available to rent for large family groups (see 8158396)

Having holidayed over the years in many French holiday rentals, we know just how much the "little details" matter and our aim is to provide the extra touches to make sure you have a good holiday and can relax in a home from home.

GREAT HOLIDAY FOR THREE GENERATIONS

• 5 out of 5

Julie & Pete made the whole process easy, from the initial enquiry to the detailed instructions for finding the villa. We found everything we needed & a lot of things which made 2 rainy days less gloomy - books for all tastes, a stack of DVDs & a beautiful fire with logs at the ready. The beds were very comfortable, with clean linen already made up, a bonus for tired travellers! The layout of the house was particularly suitable for the 2 halves of the family allowing privacy and the 2 bathrooms meant that there was no queuing in the mornings. Despite the unseasonal weather the pool was a big hit! The village bakery gave us warm breakfasts (& sweeties for our grandaughter) & morning coffees & good lunches were enjoyed in the little auberge. We went to the markets in Mirepoix & Foix. French markets are always so much more fun than ours and these didn't disappoint. We climbed Montsegur & were rewarded by fantastic views. The best however was Carcassonne, where my daughter had a birthday lunch, my grandaughter became a real princess & my son-in-law the history graduate was mightily impressed by the scale of the citadel. Ignore the tourist stuff and just admire it: the museum was great. A jolly good time was had by all.

Yes we would recommend this villa.

THANKS FOR A GREAT HOLIDAY

• 4 out of 5

In spite of mixed weather, we really enjoyed our stay in your villa. We were sad not to have been able to enjoy the pool more which is a great size and very well kept. The house is very well equipped and is true to the photographs.

Good supermarket nearby for everything for eating in at your lovely big dining table and for BBQ's on the terrace, and beautiful Mirepoix is hard to stay away from. There are lots of places to visit in under an hour's drive and this is a very people friendly area.

Thank you Julie and Peter.

VERY COMFORTABLE HOME IN A GREAT LOCATION

• 4 out of 5

This well equipped and comfortable home is set on the edge of a small village within direct and easy 5 minute drive to historic Mirepoix. This is a fantastic location for visiting numerous Cathar castles, underground river tour and snow capped Pyrennees. The pool and surrounding seating is much larger than appears in the photos. Julie was an absolute pleasure to deal with and provided a very generous welcome pack and local information for events during our stay.

Property is large, private and very well equipped.

  • 5 of 5

We have just come back from a week at Coin du Soleil. The property is nice, large and very well equipped. The pool is large and private with plenty of loungers. Not too far from Mirepoix, there are lots to do around the area. The owners I found to be very responsive to all queries. In all we had a great time, a week just did not seem long enough. Would definitely stay here again.

hidden gem

  • 5 of 5

The accommodation has everything that you could possibly want, to enjoy a home from home holiday. From the minute we entered the villa we all felt at home and the villa offered us everything we needed. The pool was used. The local boulangerie was divine and fresh croissants and coffee became the staple breakfast. There is so much to see in the vicinity, with Carcassone,( 60 mins) Mirepoix (5 mins)and Foix (30mins) all well worth a visit. We loved the area and even thought the weather wasn't good, we could not fault the holiday. DVD's and books in the villa kept us entertained. Excellent correspondence before, during and after the trip from the owner Julie, with a lovely welcome pack on arrival. Won't hesitate to book again!!!

Fantastic holiday mirepoix

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent 2 months in coin du soleil. Perfect location, only 5 mins from town of mirepoix which has lots of shops, bars, restaurants and a huge weekly market. The house is perfect for both couples and families. The garden is totally private with a huge pool and an are to dry washing. Jules and Pete were extremely helpful. Ideal base for touring the area - narbonne, Carcassonne, med coast. We also did a lot of walking in the local countryside. The house is in a quiet, secluded location, yet close to everything. There is a huge supermarket just 5 mins away which stocks everything you could need. We highly recommend both the property and the location.

Owner's Response: Happy to hear our pool & house provided everything you needed. This was our own holiday home before we moved to the area permanently so we made sure to put in all the little extras that make a home. The pool had to be big - we all love diving and swimming! Look forward to welcoming you back for 2016.

The Sunny Corner

  • 5 of 5

Coin Du Soleil is a lovely well equipped holiday home in a small hamlet just outside Mirepoix near Carcassonne. The property is very well maintained and has everything needed to make your stay comfortable. We were greeted with a very generous welcome pack for which we were most grateful. The pool area is perfectly positioned to capture the sun all day and there are plenty of sun loungers to relax on. It is also very private and not overlooked at all.

The terrace is straight off the living room is also private with a barbecue for alfresco dining.

The hamlet where the property is has a boulangerie with the best croissants that we have ever tasted and also an auberge where we enjoyed some very good food. The pretty town of Mirepoix is only a 5 minute drive away with some great places to eat and a lovely square to sit and enjoy a drink or three! There is also a local taxi service which we used a couple of times. The market was unmissable with a fantastic selection of produce and also there is a very good supermarket. Nearby Carcassonne was stunning. All in all a wonderful place to relax and enjoy this beautiful and unspoilt part of France.

Owner's Response: This is exactly what we want to hear from our guests! This is our 15th year with Coin du Soleil and we ensure that standards are kept high and guests are made welcome. The taxi service from the village is new and proving very useful. Good to hear that the local bakery and bar are also offering great quality.

Great property. Great location

  • 5 of 5

I actually rented the property for 6 weeks, as a base midway between Spain and the UK. The village is small but has a great bakery and is only 3 mins drive from Mirepoix, which has all of the amenities that one could ask for.

The property would be ideal for larger familes, as there is a lower level with 2 bedrooms and shower room, so ideal for teenagers etc.

I think the listing photographs do not really do the property justice.

My dealings with the owners, was always straightforward and friendly. I did actually look at 5 or 6 properties, prior to choosing this one.

The area is great for cycling and walking. I recommend the via Verte, which is an old railway line, that is now a cycle/walking path of some 60 odd kms of easy cycling.

Lots to see in the area, including the Cathar castles, Carcassonne and Spain is only 1.5 hrs drive, as is Andorra.

I would certainly come back to this property, if in the area again.

This was formerly our holiday home before we moved out here to make a permanent home in the area and run our holiday rental business. Mirepoix just ticked all the boxes 16 years ago and still does today! Not far from anywhere, very friendly, plenty to do and easy to get to.
