Amazing staycation at Anchor Cottage
We were so grateful for such an amazing experience at Anchor! We enjoyed a fry up at the farm shop, coastal walks, jumping into the (chilly) harbour, and relaxing by the fire! The rooms were fabulous and the kids enjoyed staying in the bunk beds while our oldest got the luxury of a room to her self! The house was amazing and the property manager and owner were lovely. Overall a great experience, recommend to all. Thumbs up from us!!

Amazing place
It's hard to imagine a more ideal base for launching into the splendor of the Cornish coast. The Old Anchor Cottage is clean, spacious and well-appointed, situated at the end of a quiet lane with unobstructed views of Boscastle's idyllic fishing harbour. The coastal trail is steps from the front door -- head northeast and the farm store/restaurant is just a 30-minute walk, go south for a more adventurous day's hike to Tintagel Castle and back. My brother-in-law is writing a book on one of America's great walks and he was blown away by this area. Carolyn was very prompt and attentive to our questions, but her welcome guide left few of them unanswered. The town itself has a handful of friendly pubs and dinner at The Rocket Room was the culinary highlight. Highly recommend the whole experience.

About the host

Hello - we are the Harris Family - Carrie, Nick, Max, Isla & Tessa.

Over 12 years ago we packed up our little flat in London and embarked on lives as ex-pats. This has allowed us many wonderful experiences and memories however we always just wanted somewhere to call home.

Anchor Cottage is simply that - our home! We spend every Summer in Boscastle and many Christmas's too - we simply love the scenery, the seagulls, the beaches, the farm shop, the mussels, the seals and without a doubt the sunset on the cliffs!

Why they chose this property

We have been part of Penally Terrace, the best location in Boscastle for almost a decade. We were fortunate enough to find Gull Cottage in 2007 and because of that were even more fortunate to make Anchor Cottage our home in 2014.

Anchor Cottage has a wealth of history from the Harbour Masters house to a wonderful Bed and Breakfast when we first took ownership of it. You will see in the house an old plank that was found during the restoration signed by an apprentice in 1909! Upstairs there is a little shelf in the wall - this is an old doorway into a wardrobe in Gull Cottage!

However for us, our aim was a home for our family to enjoy for many years to come so we lovingly started a (long distance) 2 year renovation project in 2015.

Of course, there are still bills to pay so we decided that we would welcome a few families a year to also share our little piece of Cornwall. We only allow Anchor Cottage to be booked for a maximum of 12 weeks a year to keep the standards high and for all our guests to really enjoy the beauty of the cottage.

What makes this property unique

Sea Views from the bedrooms
Most wonderful sunny terrace overlooking the harbour
Coastal walks - the best one leading straight to the Farm Shop for breakfast!
Stunning features including underfloor heating, original flagstones, american fridge, shutters throughout.
High quality linens and towels
St Kitts toiletries

Anchor Cottage is simply home away from home and we hope you get the opportunity to stay!
