Apartment in Tavira town, East Algarve, Portugal. Walk to Bishops Square, Tavira town centre - Located in the heart of Tavira town near the ferry boats, the city restaurants and the Roman Bridge

This spacious apartment has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms plus a sitting room/study, and is set in a small apartment block in a quiet area in Tavira town centre. It has AIR CONDITIONING newly installed. Unlimited Internet access. Facing south, it is light and sunny with a 14 metre long balcony which has sun from early morning to late afternoon. The balcony is accessed from the lounge, kitchen, main bedroom and the study. It is ideally situated for those who don't want to hire a car, although there is plenty of free parking nearby. Less than a 5 minute walk into the town of Tavira through Bishops Square and down to the Roman Bridge and river front with it's cafes, bars, restaurants and shops. Very close to the local train station and famous Venezuela Bakery Cafe.

Bob & Iris. We love Tavira, and our most recent visit was greatly enhanced by our stay in your conveniently situated, very comfortable apartment. You put so much thought into everything. The attention to detail and many “extras” personally provided were greatly appreciated. It was such a relaxing experience. Thanks also to Chris for the introduction and recommendation.

We look forward to returning in the not too distant future.

Great apartment

Everything about the booking worked very well, so thank you for that Mrs Chris. And thank you so much to Mr and Mrs Carter for a great warming welcome.

They met us by the arrival and showed us how it all worked in the apartment. So we were very confident about everything.

We were two couples and had our own bedroom and bathroom, so each couple had some privacy. It went great:0).

The location of the apatment was very near the citycenter, just 5-10 minuts walk and the property was very quiet.

I just have to mention, that there are only 1 aircondition which is in the livingroom and the apartment was very hot, as it is, in the sunnyside all day, otherwise we were very satisfied.

Tavira is a little pearl for those who needs to relax and who enjoys the beachlife. JUST GREAT!

Great family holiday in Tavira

We found the property larger and more comfortable than we had expected.The meet and greet with Bob and Iris was easy to arrange and the apartment is not difficult to find. Comfortable bedrooms with ample storage, two bathrooms which is a great benefit. The kitchen is well equipped and has all you need for a home from home. The centre of Tavira is just a few minutes walk where you will find many restaurants to enjoy. The boat to Tavira Island beach is around 10- 15 minutes on foot and the cost of crossing is very cheap at €2 for an adult return. The beaches are long and sandy and you wil find more restaurants here too. Overall we had a great stay in Tavira and would not not hesitate to book this apartment again.

Big surprise

Never having been to Portugal before, I was slightly concerned as to wether or not our party of four would take to it.I should not have worried, it was fabulous. Iris and Bob were waiting for us at this lovely apartment when we arrived ,which was later in the evening,gave us all the information we needed and pointed us in the direction of some local eateries and bars.Lovely welcome pack ,also cupboards and fridge had stuff in that if you are self catering you need but don't want to bring in your suitcase.Every where was spotless,could not fault anything,as my friend said it was like home from home.All our arrangements done via Chris were easy and very helpful.Tavira itself was absolutely delightful, beaches were clean and nice and sandy, the town wonderful to meander around, so many restaurants I would be hard pushed to pick a favourite.We do not normally like to revisit places but in this instance that rule has been well thrown out of the window because we are definitely coming back next year, and certainly to Iris and Bobs lovely apartment.

Brilliant !

We are normally villa people and there was an element of apprehension in taking an apartment. If they were all like this one we could very easily be converted.

Excellent clean and comfortable accommodation with every aspect considered by our considerate hosts. Position second to none. Quiet at night but only a five minute walk from the evening bustle of Tavira and with an excellent balcony for sunbathing during the morning and most of the afternoon (also a cool spot for a read after dark)

Excellent authentic Algarvian Restaurant within a few yards.with good food and drink at very modest costs (there are plenty of Restaurant in Tavira centre if you want to spend more).

The trip to the beaches is a must as indeed is a trip to VRSA and a ferry to Spain.

Iris and Bob have thought of everything here and this apartment is strongly recommended.

From the Owner

Last year we decided to buy an apartment in Tavira town centre as more and more visitors wanted to explore the area without having to hire a car. We were lucky enough to find this treasure of an apartment which offers plenty of space and sunshine. Situated in a small apartment block in a good residential area with green spaces is also a bonus. We love the fact we can walk everywhere e.g. the mini supermarket is 1 min walk away, the bakery and cafe are across the road, and one of many local restaurants is just around the corner. Everything you need, set in a lovely residential area yet within walking distance of the town.You really feel part of the local community.

Activity and Interests


The Island of Tavira and beach is reached by boat or water taxi. It is less than a 10 minute walk to the other side of the river where you can board the boat that takes you to the beautiful island with its 11kms of soft golden sands, which has a variety of cafes and restaurants. You can walk from the island, along the beach to the Terra Estrela beach and then on to Barril beach, Santa Luzia. If you are feeling fit, you can visit Santa Luzia and then walk back to Tavira by road.


Faro Airport is about 40 minutes drive. As the apartment is so close to town a car is not essential. You can always hire a taxi from the taxi rank in Bishops Square. There is much to see in the surrounding areas and if you choose to hire a car there is ample free parking near the apartment.


The town of Tavira is a few minutes walk. The Porta Nova train station is only 2 minutes walk in the other direction, passing alongside the Venezuala Bakery Cafe. You can travel by train to Vila Real St Antonio and catch the ferry boat across to Spain for the day. The train also travels to Faro where you can change to the fast train into Lisbon and north. There are plenty of villages nearby to explore and it is fun to use the local buses or taxis.

The apartment is ideally situated with the Town being only a few minutes walk . Here you will find the different bridges crossing the river which divides the town into 2 parts. On both sides of the river the cobbled streets have a large selection of bars and cafes, local shops, churches and supermarkets. There are also plenty of Banks and the local Tourist Information office which is by the Islamic Museum.

Our guests can easily walk into the centre of town and find historical places of interest along the way, or can pop across the road to a wonderful local cafe/bakery offering fresh bread daily, and a huge selection of cakes and snacks. A local supermarket is just around the corner too. Plenty of parking in the local streets and you can catch the local train from Porta Nova station which takes you west into Faro or east to the Portuguese/Spanish border town of Vila Real Sta. Antonio where you can catch the ferry to Ayamonte, Spain.
