Kids will sleep well in our cosy beds after an adventurous fun filled day out in the Lake District. With so much on offer to thrill and entertain your children you'll understand why people come back year after year to this beautiful part of the world. With something to suit every pocket and age group; from breath-taking scenic walks and relaxing lakeshore picnics, to adrenalin pumping zips wires and water skiing. The Lake District has it all and more, and our holiday home is the perfect base for your holiday memories to be made.
Situated in the village of Windermere in the National Park, the house is a great base from which to explore the beautiful Lake District. The house is just up the hill from Bowness-on-Windermere and Lake Windermere itself, the largest and most vibrant of the 17 lakes and only a stones throw from the other lakes. The village itself is just at the end of the road; a lively bustling village with a variety of bars, restaurants, shops and pubs
This 3 bedroom house in Windermere has a sunny garden and off road parking. Having a double bedroom with a king size bed, another with two singles and a third bedroom with bunk beds, it is perfect for families or a small group of friends. There is a spacious bathroom with a shower over the bath and there is also a downstairs toilet. The cosy front room has an open fire, and the light and bright kitchen diner is fully equipped with everything you might need to help you refuel ready for your next adventure. There is a drying room for boots and wet gear and a second outhouse with a washing machine and tumble dryer. The garden has a lovely sunny decking area equipped with table, chairs, parasol and BBQ; perfect for making the most of the long sunny summer evenings. Parking is a premium in this area, so having it's own parking at the rear of the property is a real bonus. The bus stop at the end of the road can take you all over the Lake District, so you can abandon the car for the week if you wish. Also the train station is only a 5 minute walk if you want to leave the car behind altogether. You are just a short stroll from the village with it's restaurants and bars; or you can wonder down to the lake shore and enjoy an open water swim or a picnic. Put your boots on at the back door and take a walk up Orrest Head and enjoy the famous view. Or you can choose to walk further onto other famous walks such as the Dales Way, Kentmere Horseshoe and the Cambrian Way.
My husband and I live in Windermere with our two children and two dogs. We love and appreciate the area and are sure that you will to.

Such a great central location.
Parking is a premium in the Lake District, so having it's own off street parking is a real bonus.
The property was immaculately clean. Location was perfect - few minutes walk into the town. Slept well on comfortable beds, beautiful cotton crisp white linen and plenty of thick fluffy towels. We had everything that we needed and thoroughly enjoyed our stay - just wish it had been longer. Would highly recommend and would return if staying in the area again.
We stayed in Windermere for 5 nights in this house, and had a wonderful time. The beds were very comfortable and cosy, the kitchen was well-stocked, and we found everything we needed. This house is a 5 minute walk to downtown Windermere, where there are many restaurants, a Sainsbury and a Co-op. Across the street is a home that sells eggs, and there is even fresh milk that comes in a glass jar, the old-fashioned way!
Catherine and her family were very accomodating of our needs, and made us feel really welcome here.
Great place to stay if you plan to visit the Lake District!
I stayed here for a weekend with friends and had a great time. Great location, close to local shops and restaurants and not far from Bowness. There was milk in the fridge on arrival and lots of towels etc. Felt very welcomed by the owner and would definitely recommend and would stay here again!
We had a wonderful long weekend break here with our 16 month old daughter. The house is in a great location for exploring the south lakes area it has parking for 2 small cars is well maintained and spotlessly clean. Everything you would need for a self catering break is provided, it really is a home from home and we would definitely return the next time we want to stay in the area.
Communication from the owners was always very prompt and informative and they were especially understanding when we suffered a bereavement in the family shortly before we were due to stay.
Me and 2 friends stayed here for a long weekend hiking, we loved the house, it was big and very clean with plenty of areas to store our stuff! There was milk in the fridge on arrival and plenty of towels for us to use. The house was very nice and clean and great heating system too. Will definitely be back in the future!!
My family and I really enjoyed our stay in this superb house. It is in a great location and the facilities are spot on. We were able to walk from the house down to Bowness and into Windermere without worrying about car parking.
The house was very clean and well maintained and the kitchen well stocked with dish washer tablets and rinse aid provided, also dishcloths and teatowels. The numerous bath towels were lovely - clean, fluffy and like new.
The three bedrooms are very comfortable, clean and bright. All the bedding was beautifully clean, crisp and smelled lovely. The bathroom is spacious and modern. The kitchen, although small, is well equipped with modern oven, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and microwave. Downstairs is very tidy and comfortable.
With parking for two cars and outside space for eating and playing this house was ideal for our needs. Plenty of room for four adults, two children and one baby. There was a stock of tea, coffee and sugar, milk in the fridge and lollipops for the children.
The owner gave good clear directions and instructions on the house before hand and the use of the key safe was a bonus.
I certainly hope to use this property again and would recommend it to anyone.
Thank you Catherine for a lovely holiday home.
