Guestbook comments from the owner

We enjoyed our stay at your villa which we found attractive and comfortable. We had a lovely time in the Perigord Vert and found that we were very well placed, just outside of Brantôme.

Lovely place to relax in the Dordogne

  • 4 of 5

The group of houses at "Domaine de la Brantome" really are very tranquil, in no small part helped by tucking the cars away in an underground garage (which is quite spacious and handily located).

The "Fuchsia" property is clean, well-maintained and comfortable, with a key feature of a "double aspect" to the front and rear. Since our stay was in the heat of summer with most days more than 30 degrees, then it was brilliant to either sit or lounge in either the front or back depending on where the sun was, and if we wanted sunbathing or shelter from the sun.

If you are going in summer, relax by leaving behind the technology, since internet is somewhat limited. You won't need it on beautiful sunny days anyway!

If you are hiring bikes, we were impressed by the ones another resident got from "dordogne cycle hire" (see them online). Unfortunately we tried some "rent a wreck" ones locally which was a bad idea!

Don't forget to visit Bourdeilles while you are there - only a few kilometers away, with a very pretty river and chateau.

And it goes without saying how beautiful Brantome itself is. Great restaurants include the one onsite at the "Domaine" and also "Cote Riviere" in Brantome town among others.

We would definitely consider coming back to the "Domaine" another time!

Fantastic family holiday

  • 5 of 5

We had a perfect family holiday at Fuschia cottage. The cottage was immaculate and beautfully equipped. The development is lovely, very peaceful and having the pool is an welcome essential!. Brantome, although a fair walk away along a stunning country path, is a picture perfect town with everything your could hope for for the dream French holiday. And there is so much to do and see in the area, highly recomment visiting the Chateaux at Bordeilles. We will return!

Further Details:

Brantôme is one of the prettiest and most visited towns in the Dordogne. Spend some time exploring its cobblestone streets, magnificent abbey and riverside park. Enjoy some of the delicious gastronomy on offer and watch the river jousting on a summer's evening.

There are also plenty of things to do and see in the surrounding areas.

For the active, one of the most enjoyable things to do is to hire a canoe for an hour, two hours or a half-day and paddle around Brantôme, and/or upriver, or downriver to the pretty historic town of Bourdeilles. Another option is to canoe down past a glorious series of chateaux, about an hours drive from Brantôme. Or take a walk around the town, and see some of the most beautiful scenery you have ever seen.

You can glide over Brantôme and surroundings on an altiplane, or hire a bicycle in Brantôme itself (near Aldi) or for just over 10E a day in nearby St-Julien-de-Bourdeilles, just 5 minutes by car from Brantôme. Cycle the beautiful 'Voie Verts' in the region, a network of 'green routes'. The routes can only be used by pedestrians, cyclists, horse riders. All motorised vehicles are not allowed. The routes are therefore safe and ideal for use by families and those with young children. Route maps are available from the tourist office in Brantome.

No visit would be complete without visiting St-Jean-de-Côle, to enjoy a meal in one of the restaurants surrounding the huge Roman church that crowns this pretty village. Further away you can enjoy ancient Roman ruins in Perigueux, the capital of the Périgord, while Sarlat and nearby towns, situated in the Périgord Noir about an hour away, will enthral you with their beautiful chateaux, villages and fortified ruins.

No smoking or pets please.
