About the Owner

We moved to Long Marston in late spring 2014 to pursue a self-sufficient lifestyle in the country. As avid gardeners we grow as much fruit and veg' as we can fit on the land. We have won many awards for our vegetables including the National Vegetable Society Championships at Harrogate in September 2015.

We also have hand- reared ducks, chickens and turkeys in our garden.

ANOTHER RELAXING STAY IN THIS PROPERTY

  • 5 of 5

Alec and Christine made us feel very welcome again. The apartment is within a few minutes drive of a park and ride bus depot, which gives easy and carefree access to York.

We also found it very easy to get to other places we've visited before, Pateley Bridge, Helmsley, Hutton le Hole, Harrogate etc.

My son's birthday is in January and I will be suggesting to him that we give him and his partner a break at Long Marston.

Really comfortable accommodation

  • 4 of 5

We stayed 4 nights in Lomg Marston in the most comfortable of all our accommodation in the entire 3 weeks we've been travelling. The apartment contained everything we needed, was close to nearby pub meals, was conveniently located for travel into York and our hosts were great!

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

Delightful experience. The apartment was clean, comfortable and very pretty with everything we needed plus a few lovely extras like fresh eggs, tomatoes and a lovely soft dog blanket. The owners met us and were incredibly helpful and welcoming, making sure we had everything we needed, which we did. The apartment is surrounded by fields and near a quiet village with a quiet pub which has a lovely large beer garden. Very close to a Park & Ride which made it very easy to get into York. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are definatly coming back.

Location

From the Owner

The Cottage is set in beautiful rural surroundings in the heart of North Yorkshire just 6 miles from the City of York. On our doorstep is the historic site of the Battle of Marston Moor with rolling countryside in every direction. The main cottage originally dates back to 1644 and maintains the original charm of this period. Although the self-contained apartment was built as part of an extension centuries later, its features sympathetically reflect the style of the house.
