Apartment in Long Marston, York, England - Peaceful Village Location, 7 Miles From York City Centre

Fully Furnished Self-contained One Bedroom Apartment.

To sleep a maximum of four adults and one infant.

One double bed in the main bedroom and

two "pull-out" bed settees in the lounge and

one travel cot for the main bedroom all at no extra charge, with bedding supplied).

Sympathetically built as an extension to a charming 17th Century Cottage. The main cottage originally dates back to 1644 and is situated on the historic site of the Battle of Marston Moor.

Complete with all modern conveniences and comforts the apartment features rustic wooden beams and a very cosy cottage atmosphere.

Fresh free range eggs are supplied from our hens in the garden at no charge.

Seasonal fresh fruit and vegetables may also be available from our Polly-tunnel or Greenhouses.

The Sun Inn is less than 100 yards away. They do very good food and are relatively cheap we hear.

About Alec Welham

We moved to Long Marston in late spring 2014 to pursue a self-sufficient lifestyle in the country. As avid gardeners we grow as much fruit and veg' as we can fit on the land. We have won many awards for our vegetables including the National Vegetable Society Championships at Harrogate in September 2015 and 2016.

We also have hand- reared ducks, chickens and turkeys in our garden.

The Cottage is set in beautiful rural surroundings in the heart of North Yorkshire just 6 miles from the City of York.

Built on the historic site of the Battle of Marston Moor with rolling countryside in every direction.

The main cottage originally dates back to 1644 and maintains the original charm of this period. Although the self-contained apartment was built as part of an extension centuries later, its features sympathetically reflect the style of the house.

What makes this apartment unique

The property is ideally situated in the small village of Long Marston, 5 miles from the A1 M and the historic market town of Wetherby.

York is accessible within a 15 minute drive, or a 20 minute bus journey will take you to York train station and the City Centre.

Harrogate is just a 25 minute car journey, famous for its Victoria architecture, Roman baths, and Betty’s Tea Rooms.

Knaresborough is also just a 15 minute car journey to explore the Castle, Mother Shiptons cave, or take a row boat along the river.

Outside: There is a small area outside and off-road parking on a private "Access Only" road. The back of the property provides a small patio area for summer alfresco dining. Spacious cottage flat with open views to the back. Clean and tidy with all the necessary equipment.

Had a warm welcome from the owners Alec and Chris, with a good explanation of local history and amenities. The flat was clean and ready to move in to, the bed is comfortable with towels provided. The village pub is a short walk away, where the landlord is friendly, the pub is dog friendly though you do have to stay in the Tap Room, which is comfortable and cosy. York is a great place to visit with plenty to do, Alec explained how to get to the Park and Ride, which is worth using. Chris gave us some eggs from their chickens who live in their wonderful garden. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Great little apartment with welcoming hosts.

We were there for two nights with a family of 5- (our kids are 7,5, and 2). Initially, we just needed a place to crash while attending a wedding. We were pleasantly surprised that despite the short stay and the lack of being around we still had a lot of contact with the hosts. They were genuine, helpful, full of historical insight and entertained our kids by letting them feed the chickens... twice! The place was cozy but not uncomfortable for all of us. It was peaceful with really lovely views of the surrounding area. The only bit of concern was when the electricity went out while we were sleeping (still not sure what caused the trip) and although we knew where the switches were, hubby wasn't able to open the housing for the master switch- the host was on hand though and turned it all back on. For future guests, just a warning not to keep too much plugged in? As the consequences could be, like for us, a defrosting fridge/freezer and a pool of water in the kitchen to clean up. This place was amazing value however and a nice wee spot with really lovely hosts! I would recommend it and would stay there again!

Quiet and stress free time

Stayed of one week. I was looking for somewhere that was quiet where I could relax and found the perfect spot. The property had everything that was needed. The hosts, Alec and Christine were very helpful and friendly, giving a little history of the area and a tour of their garden. There was even a half dozen eggs from their free range chickens.

All in all a very pleasant time and I would have no hesitation in returning and using this property again.
