Our luxury one bedroom apartment is offered in excellent order, spotlessly clean with new decoration and quality furnishings. It is situated on the fourth floor of a stylish architect designed warehouse conversion in the heart of the historic Gloucester docks. The building and apartment has retained many of its early Victorian features including steel pillars, wooden beams and exposed brick walls. The sitting room and bedroom windows afford superb views over the busy marina with its barges, pleasure boats and occasional tall ship. The views also carry on beyond to May Hill and the Royal Forest of Dean countryside. The Gloucester Quays leisure complex is less than a minute walk away and here you will find a variety of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, designer outlet shopping, antique centre and 10 screen cinema. The city centre, Gloucester Cathedral and Kingsholm rugby ground are all a short walk away. The apartment also benefits from unlimited free Wi-Fi, a Virgin Media digital TV package and a free allocated covered parking space in a secure car-park.

I am a retired police officer and my wife Tracey works as a community support officer in a local secondary school. We live in Stroud and have 2 daughters, one of whom is a journalist in Hertfordshire and the other one a holiday courier working in France.

Why Richard Burge chose Gloucester

We have watched the Docks and Quays leisure quarter develop over many years and it has now become a vibrant and exciting place to live, visit and socialise. We bought the apartment as a holiday home for ourselves and family to use as well as our paying guests. Our favourite restaurant is a 30 second walk from our front door with lots of other bars, coffee shops, restaurants, shops, museums and cinema within a 2 minute walk. We never tire of just strolling around the area looking at the different boats coming and going and sitting outside one of the coffee shops watching the world go by. But despite all this, the apartment is a very relaxing place to stay and whilst looking out of the windows to the marina and countryside, we forget we are in the heart of the City and this buzzing area.

What makes this apartment unique

We fell in love with the apartment as soon as we saw it and would argue it is in the best and most interesting building in the Docks. Disney must agree, because they recently used it as a back-drop for their new 'Alice Through The Looking Glass' film. Although we live close by in Stroud, we regularly stay in the apartment and always feel like we are away on holiday. It is a great base to stay if you are visiting to watch Gloucester Rugby, attend Cheltenham races, or want to explore the Cotswolds and glorious Gloucestershire countryside.

Outside: Immediately outside the apartment building is the marina and lots of seating for you to sit and watch the waterway traffic come and go. Our favourite Barge restaurant is also on the doorstep and lots of open space to explore. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All towels and bed linen are provided for the duration of your stay. You can expect to find the property spotlessly clean upon your arrival and cleaning products are provided.

We stayed here for 3 weeks in July while my wife was studying. It is a very modern, nicely decorated, clean and well-equipped apartment. The apartment is very quiet, on the 4th floor, accessed by a lift or stairs, just 10 minutes walk to the centre of Gloucester. There are plenty of places to eat nearby and a large Sainsburys supermarket within walking distance. We loved to look out the window at the docks, and enjoyed walking along the canal and in the nearby Alney Island nature reserve. Highly recommended!

Excellent Luxury Apartment!!

We have just come back from a perfect stay of 2 nights at this beautiful apartment. Everything was perfect from being met on arrival by Richard who was so helpful and polite to having a lovely well laid out apartment that was modern, spotlessly clean and in a great position overlooking the docks at the quieter end. There was plenty of bars and restaurants around the docks to choose from and a great shopping centre. We will definately book again and fully recommend to family and friends. Bristol and Birmingham airports are the nearest main airports to Gloucester and can be reached in about an hour. Locally Gloucestershire airport is 7 miles away. Gloucester Railway Station is 1.2 miles by road but on foot is a 10 minute walk. Use of a car is not essential unless you are wishing to explore the Gloucestershire countryside and beyond.


The Docks is a perfect location to visit the City of Gloucester with its Cathedral and Rugby Ground all within easy walking distance. It is also a perfect location to explore the Cotswolds, the rolling hills of Stroud and the Royal Forest of Dean. The Spa town of Cheltenham with its famous race-course is a 15 minute drive away or within easy reach by train or bus.

Further Details:

The Docks and Quays have shows and events throughout the year such as the tall ships festival, Victorian Markets, Christmas Markets and firework displays. It will also host the Fan Zone for the Rugby World Cup in 2015.
