Stunning location next to Summerleaze beach in Bude, this spacious detached house is set with superb views of beach and sea. With views from all rooms, this is an excellent base for a holiday at any time of year.

The property is just a 5minute stroll from Bude town centre and its amenities.

There is horse riding; a golf course; chartered sea fishing; surfing and swimming in Bude, boasting one of the few tidal sea pools in Britain. With a sea lock dividing the canal from the sea, you're but a stone's throw away from fishing, boating and canoeing all available on the canal.

Bude also offers a range of restaurants, cafes and supermarkets. Splash leisure centre with indoor pool and ten pin bowling alley close by.

This part of the coast is very popular with water sports enthusiasts; those craving a classic Cornish seaside holiday with lovely beaches and those keen walkers, with the coastal path being just outside the back door. Plus Clovelly, Boscastle, Tintagel Castle, Rock & Padstow just 30 minute drives away.

The perfect place for a seaside holiday. Shop and pub 400 yards away.

About Gina D'Angelo

The Stamp family have been here in Bude four generations.

Munster Cottage was first bought by Sir Laurance Dudley-Stamp. The present owner is his grandson, Jonathan Stamp whose career had kept him away from his home town of Bude for many years, travelling the world on cruise ships performing his solo juggling, unicycling, comedy show!

He has since reduced his time away by performing only on european cruises, flying out for only a few days at a time to join ships at ports mid cruise. So he can now have more time with his new family, fiancé Gina and baby Siena who joined them in 2013!

Jonathan has spent the past 10 years maintaining Munster Cottage and Ebbingford, adapting the beautiful manor to accommodate a delightfully romantic & interesting self-catering holiday let as well as providing a secluded home for his family.

Why Gina D'Angelo chose Bude

Munster Cottage is owned by Jonathan Stamp, whose family have owned it for three generations now. Jonathan loved growing up here and since travelling the world with his career and living 8 years in Hawaii, Bude was still where he dreamt of settling and bringing up his family. Being a keen surfer, having Summerleaze beach right there, with it's good reputation for surf is a huge bonus and having stunning coastal walks right on our doorstep is a joy. Bude is a lovely small town with more Cornish attractions not far away, Clovelly, Boscastle, Tintagel Castle, Rock & Padstow just 30 minute drives away.

What makes this house unique

With Munster Cottages stunning location next to Summerleaze beach and canal, a 5 minute walk from Bude town centre and on the coastal footpath, you do not have to get in the car to go anywhere.

Bryoni T- Review on TripAdvisor- "The location of this property is absolutely perfect. Literally a stones throw from a lovely, sandy beach, with rocks and dunes to explore.

A short walk in a few different directions gave us pretty much everything we needed for a week away with three energetic boys. Lots of nice cafe's and pubs, parks, a handful of shops, bowling and Softplay and two Supermarkets. Bude was just the right size for us.

The house itself was mostly very clean, lovely crisp white bed linen and comfy beds. Gorgeous light rooms and that amazing view from literally every window. The kitchen was well equipped but was missing scissors and some kids bowls would be handy. The rooms are all good sizes, 5 of us were very comfortable in it. We loved sitting at the Dining table just watching the view. Thank-you for a lovely stay."

The kids and the dogs had an amazing time on the beach and then drying out and warming up in front of the fire. The beds in all rooms were extremely comfortable and bathrooms plenty for all..... We saw a seal pup rescued from in front of the house......and experienced tidal waves but totally safe....... The owners were very nice and made sure we we were comfortable. Hope we can all return soon..... Paula, Ian, Julie, Ady, Emily, Chloe, Sidney and Stanley......"

Aitch22, Chichester-Review on TripAdvisor-"Stayed as a family of five, 2 adults and 3 teens, for late Easter Break after getting special deal via eBay.

Substantial detached house, dating from 1934. Plenty of room for all, with two large double bedrooms and sturdy bunks. Location couldn't be bettered - 100 paces from the sand - and views from every room.

(Access would be tricky for less able-bodied as up steep steps from beach.)

High quality modern furnishings, wood floors downstairs, lots of stripped pine. Separate shower and bathrooms and well-equipped kitchen, with recent dishwasher, etc. The sole recommendation for improvement would be to consider offering WiFi.

Would happily recommend this property to anyone."

Notes on accommodation: Pets are not allowed upstairs or on the sofas and chairs. There are stair gates available at the house if needed. We also ask that dogs are not left alone at the house. No smoking allowed in the house. Check In after 3pm. Check Out 10am The final part of the road leading to the house is a through road, but is an uneven dirt road. The parking is not roomy...you need to park alongside the garage door by the back door. Outside: Patio is approx 8ft by 12ft with table & chairs for 6 people. The patio area has fencing around it, there is also an ornamental grassed garden which is on a steep slope and is not secure for pets or young children unsupervised. There is a gate taking you down 12 steps to the road beachside, then 4 more steps down to the sea lock gate and harbour masters fishermans hut & access to the beach. Bath & hand towels provided. Linen provided. House cleaned prior to arrival. For stays over a week fresh towels & linen can be provided.

Wonderful location and lovely family house

The house was cosy in the storm and fantastic when the weather cleared later in the week. The children and dog loved the deck and overlooking the bay. The position of the house is unbeatable for access to walks and the sea, we’ve had a lovely week, thank you Gina!

Would rebook

The house has an excellent location, and a beautiful outlook from the decking area over the beach. we were worried about sea noise at night, but the double glazing was great, we hardly heard a thing. It is well equipped, there was even a knife that cuts! A good cooker and hob, washing and dish washing machine which were easy to use. The property was clean and tidy, there was a bit of decorating needed, but that is pretty standard in my opinion. Loads of towels, spare blankets and pillows. The beds were comfortable and big, although my son wouldn't have fitted into the bunk bed if we needed them. He is over 6 foot though. We had a small leak from the upstairs wc, we called Gina (the owner) and the leak was fixed within 45 minutes. Ginas' partner popped in early in our stay to welcome us and tell us to call if we needed anything, a nice touch. A good tip would be to ignore the directions to drive round the front of the house (the side away from the beach). It's an un-adopted road, very narrow and dumpy and when we arrived, very muddy. We used the balcony doors for access and egress once we got settled and that was fine.

Perfect location

Munster Cottage is perfectly located for a seaside holiday. The views over the beach are stunning and there is easy access to the coastal path, canal walk, beach and a flat walk into Bude.

The cottage is comfortable with all you need for a great week away.

Marvellous Munster in Brilliant Buse

The house is amazingly well situated with amazing views and almost immediate access to the beach, across the lock gate and down some steps!

The beach is great, lovely sand, rock pools & great surf...something for everyone.

The house is really comfortable with a lovely decked area with great views. The double rooms are light and spacious.

All in all we had a great time in Bude and Munster Cottage contributed greatly to that, just a bit more sunshine next time please.

Wonderful !

We had a fantastic time in Bude staying at Munster Cottage. The house is beautiful, it is well appointed with everything you need. It was absolutely spotless and the sofa's and beds are lovely and comfortable. The location could not be better, a few steps to the canal and beach, the views are incredible and falling to sleep to the sound of the sea is lovely. We would not hesitate in returning to stay again.

Lovely walks all along the coast, great local pubs, five minute walk into town. we can recommend Tiandi restaurant.

would love to return in the summer.

Summerleaze has sand dunes & beach café. It's river, with bobbing fishing boats, flanks the wide, sandy beach sheltered by the impressive breakwater. The sea pool nestled at foot of the cliffs, cleaned daily by the tide, has enticed swimmers since 1930. Lifeguard cover provided on beach & pool over holiday times. Dog friendly beach all year. Some wildest&most beautiful stretches of North Cornwall coastal path encompass Bude. There are also numerous inland, well-marked footpaths and bridleways.

Travel:

Once in Bude, a car is only really needed if travelling out of town.

Exeter airport, nearest international airport, approximately 60 miles from Bude

Heathrow airport is approx 230 miles away & Gatwick airport approx 250 miles.

Nearest channel crossing is Plymouth approx 60 miles from Bude.

Southampton channel crossing approx 170 miles from Bude.

Distances:

Clovelly, Boscastle, Tintagel Castle, Rock & Padstow are just 30 minute drives away.

Exeter City approximately 1 hour.

Newquay approximately 50 minutes.

St Ives approximately 1hr 30 mins

On enquiring you will receive availability for your dates & price, along with a copy of our booking contract. If you are happy to go ahead and book, we can secure those dates for you with a 20% initial deposit. this can be either by cheque or bank transfer. We will send you a receipt confirming your payment & booking, the remaining sum and a damage deposit of £200 will then be required a month before your arrival date. The damage deposit will be returned to you immediately after your stay.

Changeover day is Saturday April-Sept.
Flexible changeover day Oct-Mar when short stays are available, of minimum 3 nights.
Arrival after 3pm. Departure by 10am.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
