The 4th bedroom has two single beds and a large glass door with access to the side terrace and views onto the forest and gardens. The 5 bathrooms are all new and modern. 3 are full bathrooms with large luxurious walk in showers (and one with also a big bathtub), and 2 are ensuite powder rooms (toilet and sink only). There are two kitchens, one main cooking kitchen with all major and minor appliances top of the range brands. The kitchen island, where the hob and a small fridge is situated, has seating for 4. It also has easy access to the grill/oven. The other kitchen, directly behind the main kitchen, is an even larger pantry kitchen with large fridges and freezers, dishwasher and all the main appliances which are housed in the plentiful cupboards. All the expected appliances are here, toaster, kettle, dishwasher, oven, stove, microwave, etc. There is also a Nespresso coffee maker as well as a traditional filter coffee machine.

The back terrace has a ping pong table and there is table football in the open space lounge, for extra holiday fun.

The 12m long infinity pool is ideal for soaking up the sun. It has an even depth of 1.3 m throughout, and has a wonderful view both from the pool deck and from within the pool itself. Furnished with umbrellas as well as sun loungers and deck chairs. The garden is large, terraced on the mountainside. There are romantic paths and steps with sitting areas in the woods away from the house, whilst in an area of natural shaded woodland overlooking the lake there is a table and seating for 6, perfect for cards and games or afternoon reading. A special place for a special occasion

I was responsible for planning our 40th wedding anniversary getaway with the family and did I choose the perfect villa! It certainly had the WOW factor from the moment we all set our eyes on it as we approached on arrival and it continued to deliver for the duration of our 10-day stay. The uninterrupted view of Lake Garda from both balconies is stunning. The property is very spacious and beautifully furnished. It is superbly well equipped for self-catering purposes and for the use of Ulberdo, a very skilful (and most pleasant) professional chef who was made available to us by Christina, the very competent manager. All correspondence with her in the lead up to the holiday was swiftly answered and she explained everything to us when she met us on arrival.

Much use was made of the infinity swimming pool which was maintained twice weekly.

This was a memorable holiday and worth every euro!

fabulous views, excellent accommodation

  • 5 of 5

Once you have mastered the final part of the road (not for the faint hearted, nor for underpowered minibus), you will realise that in fact there are very few reasons to leave the villa, as everything you could want is there. Days were spent by the pool, sitting on the terrace idly watching the boats on the lake far below, or BBQ-ing; while evenings were spent eating and drinking, watching the stars and the fireworks and the lights twinkling on the lake and on the distant shores.

If you want to sample the local attractions, the boat trip to Sirmione is well worth doing especially if there are enough of you to have a boat to yourself. Il Vittoriale degli Italiani is a must if only because you won't see anything like it anywhere else. We had a fantastic pasta making evening with Chef Ubaldo which was pretty much the highlight for all of our party. We also took advantage of the local stables (literally just below the villa but by way of the steepest, most difficult bit of the road) for a morning's horse-riding.

The team supporting the villa were enthusiastic and very friendly although it took a couple of (frustrating) days to sort out a hot water/gas problem with people failing to turn up when expected. This was disappointing as this is a luxury villa (for which we paid a luxury price). It was sorted out in the end and everything else functioned perfectly after that.

Our arrival day was a bit chaotic - the drive was pretty nerve wracking at times and then no one was there to meet us and Christina was running really late. Although this wasn't her fault, it meant that we had to split up and some of us head off to a restaurant to ensure we made our booking. Two of our young guests had arrived earlier by taxi. They had real difficulty finding the villa, as the taxi driver was unable to follow the directions and photos that we had been given. We had told Novella what their plans were, but they couldn't get through to her. Maybe we were expecting too much, but neither incident got us off to a very good start. The first day rather sets the tone for the rest and the hot water/gas problems didn't help, however things rapidly improved and you can't be grumpy for long with such fabulous views and such a great place to stay.

I would certainly recommend it and minor irritations aside, we really did have a fabulous time.

Stunning villa

  • 5 of 5

A stunning villa! The views of the lake are breathtaking, and amazing to wake up to every morning. The villa itself is spacious and luxurious with high quality furnishings and everything you would need for a relaxing break. It is peaceful and quiet, and perfect for a relaxing break.

The team supporting the villa were very friendly and helpful, and when we had an issue with hot water, it was immediately attended to and fixed.

The drive up is a little tricky, especially with a larger car.

A beautiful villa

  • 5 of 5

After our drive from Verona we were greeted by the most amazing villa that I have ever seen. Seeing it in real life is far superior to what you can see in the photos. The ground floor, master bedroom and terraces are very spacious. The villa had everything we required and it was all of very high quality. The only small niggles were the ant manifestation we had one day and the steep drive to the villa made us cautious taking the car out in the evening. Also the managing agent was ever so helpful!

About Toscolano Maderno:

The Story of Toscolano Maderno

Many tourists are attracted by its large and beautiful beaches and by its

mile long beach promenade, but Toscolano Maderno has also many

interesting monuments including:

- the Church of Sant'Andrea from the 12th century is one of the most

beautiful Romanesque churches in northern Italy. The Christian builders reused

many of the building blocks from the original ancient roman temple.

See if you can spot the pagan carvings in the stones, turned upside down to

defuse the pagan magic! Located on the lungo lago in the centre of

Maderno.

- the Church of San Pietro e Paolo, in Toscolano, was built in the

Renaissance style of the 16th century and has 22 paintings by the famous

venetian painter Andrea Celesti. Located on the main road, just by the

paper factory. Behind it, going towards the lake on the left, you will find the

remains of the Roman Villa mentioned below.

- The tiny Church of San Michele in Gaino is a lovely destination for an

relaxing nature hike, served with walking trails that lead right to it, the

church is in a breathtaking spot on the crest of the mountain, with

absolutely stunning lake views in every direction.

- the remains of the Roman Villa, thought to be built by Publius Nonius

Asprenate in 38 AD. Although the area hasn't been fully excavated yet, and

it is not yet a public tourist site, archaeologists have found evidence of a

variety of buildings through the area, and have uncovered tombstones,

mosaics and fragments of some frescos which you can see from outside

the fences. Just behind the church of san Pietro and san Paolo, on the left

of the parking lot going down towards the paper factory and the lake.

the Valle delle Cartiere (the valley of the paper mills) a wonderful sight along the river Toscolano. It is not only a Nature Park

but also one of the most important industrial archaeological sites of Europe, famous for its paper production since the early

1500s. The paper factory is now a complete ghost town, in an extraordinary natural context. Stop first at the museum in the

largest old mill, and then follow the river upstream passing the ruins of other old paper mills to see the wild and romantic

gorge that offers swimming and a fly fishing opportunities. The paths can be followed on foot or bicycle only.

Located in a sunny spot on the Toscolano river delta, Toscolano Maderno settles on a vast headland at the foot of Monte

Pizzoccolo (1582 m) and Monte Castello di Gaino (866m). Once two towns, Toscolano and Maderno are now united into

a single city. There many places of interest including ancient Roman ruins and the duomo built on the original site of a

ancient Roman Temple. All of Toscolano was once a single roman country estate for a patrician family from Rome, and

Roman remnants can be seen in the most unusual places.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: The terraces in the garden have steep drop offs without railings, and the pool area is not fenced, so extra care must be taken with smaller children and toddlers. The main floor terrace is furnished with large designer umbrellas, outdoor eating for 8, as well as a couple of very comfortable sun loungers for soaking in the sun, the quiet and birdsong, and the view. The back terrace has a ping pong table as well as table football, for extra holiday fun. The pool is a large infinity pool, and has a wonderful view both from the pool deck and from within the pool itself. Furnished with umbrellas as well as sun loungers and deck chairs. The garden is large, terraced on the mountainside. There are romantic situating paths and staircases moving from one level of the garden to the other, with a sitting area in the woods, table and chairs for 4, perfect for cards and games or afternoon reading. The lower terrace has a french boules" lawn bowling gravel pitch. Utility Room: Large utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer, utility sink, extra counter and cupboards space. Iron and Ironing board. Other: There is a ping pong table and a table football on the back terrace, and gravel pitch on the lower terrace of the garden for playing french "boules" and horseshoes.
