This is a wonderful cottage in a fantastic area, and what a view! It's been amazing staying here and exploring the beach every day with our boys. The cottage is very well equipped and has been done to the highest standard. They have thought of everything to the smallest detail. We would highly recommend this cottage and return ourselves - why go anywhere else?

Wow wow wow, what can I say, from the moment we met Linda, we knew this was perfect, Linda is a wonderful, warm friendly lady, who has gone to incredible lenths, not only in the appearance and build of this wonderful cottage, but also inside aswell, all to a very high quality, we were greeted by a magnificent hamper, wine, beer, bread, cake etc, tea, coffee, milk, cheese, pasta, we wanted for nothing, which was a wonderful suprise, we had a fantastic stay here, the morning view of the bay whilst having your coffee can't be put into words, it has to be seen to be believed, kirkcudbright itself is a wonderful place, full of character, great places to eat, very good museum, and great views, we cannot wait to come back, if we can get in that is lol, many thanks Linda, hopefully see you soon?

Surpassed expectations in all areas.

  • 5 of 5

Burnfoot has the most wonderful location; with coastal views from most rooms and from the extensive garden, it felt so relaxing hearing and watching the tide throughout the day. The grounds are a pleasure in their own right though, with seating aplenty and the ever so pretty planters plus the woodland.

Linda has made sure that the furnishings and bedding don't disappoint. Everything is done to an extremely high standard; lovely thick towels, luxurious welcome hamper, all the kitchen gadgets and essential larder items you could wish for. Plus thoughtful things like fishing nets for the kids and umbrellas for the unpredictable Scottish weather.

We absolutely loved our stay would certainly return.

Many thanks from Liz, Claudia, Paul, Luca, Lucas, Roxy and Frankie

Superb 5 star holiday accommodation in spectacular location

  • 5 of 5

This is by far the best quality self catering accommodation we have stayed in. The house and grounds are beautifully presented with very high quality furnishings and equipment. Linda has provided everything that anyone could possibly need for a relaxing family holiday. Her welcome pack is extremely generous and a lovely surprise. Linda's personal welcome is a really nice touch and she makes guests feel that nothing is too much trouble.

The location right on the beach is spectacular. There is plenty to do in the area for all ages. Kirkudbright is a delightful historic town and well worth leaving plenty of time to explore it.

Some good places to eat out. We would recommend Polarbites for excellent fish and chips and stocking up on really fresh fish from their fish shop next door for the barbeque.

We would certainly recommend Burnfoot Cottage to our friends

Holiday Cottage Perfection

  • 5 of 5

Burnfoot Cottage is beautifully furnished and equipped and combined with its location and Linda's hospitality makes for holiday cottage perfection.

We spent most of our time in the sun room which overlooks the beach and has distant views of Kirkcudbright across the tidal river estuary. In the evenings, we'd sit watching night fall. Magic. There weren't any minuses but other key pluses are the quality of the beds and bedlinen, the beautiful spacious lounge and toasty woodburner, and the outside space.

The surrounding area is stunning - it reminded us of Cornwall or Pembrokeshire but without the crowds and traffic. At the time we visited we'd often be the only ones on the beach and this was also true of the other beaches in the area. The location is wonderful for dogs - walks without leads all week! Dogs and kids have their own luxury shower and towels in a heated outhouse which made it easy to keep the cottage mud and sand free.

Don't hesitate to book this accommodation, we loved everything about it.

A little piece of heaven

  • 5 of 5

6 adults and 4 dogs have literally just arrived home after spending a week here and can't praise this property highly enough. The owner Linda was there on arrival to show us around and to advise us on places to visit. She also provided one of the most luxurious welcome hampers and fruit baskets you could imagine. Even the dogs got their own treats as well as towels, shampoo and poo bags. The property was spotless and finished to a really high standard. The cupboards were stocked with everything you could need during your stay and the view from the conservatory was amazing. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to everyone

Fabulous 5 star home from home

  • 5 of 5

Without a doubt, one of the best holiday rentals we have experienced in Scotland. Linda has kitted out the property with high quality furnishings & fittings, and what a difference that makes. Perfect location for our young dog, right on the beach, but also a great woodland/cliff top walk just behind the house without the need to take the car anywhere. The outdoor hot shower is fantastic, both for the dog & muddy boots etc. The little extras were also very well received - lovely welcome basket with quality items and fresh baking; doggie towels & shampoo; a good quality hairdryer, hooray! Linda has thought of everything. All in all I can't recommend this place highly enough.

From the Owner

Burnfoot Cottage & Bothy came onto the market late 2013, which we viewed and immediately fell in love with and it's amazing location beside Dhoon Beach. Fortunately, we were successul with our offer on the property and set to work carrying out an extensive renovation project and the cottage was opened to it's first guests at the end of August 2014. The area is known to have it's own micro climate and this was very evident during the renovation, with a distict difference from the surrounding areas, even from Kirkcudbright (5 mins drive)which you can view up the estuary in the distance. We intend to renovate the Bothy to the same luxury standard. The Bothy will be for up to two persons.

From the Owner

Being set in two and a half acres of its own grounds, the secluded cottage offers such a lovely variation of large garden, woodland walk, sheltered sitting areas, patios, BBQ area, sun bathing areas and direct beach access. You don't have to go far for everything you require for your holiday, the "Artists Town", Kirkcudbright is 5 minutes drive and offers a wonderful selection of shops, cafes, takeaways and restaurants. Get your fish & chips and enjoy them in the park or as you stroll along the harbour watching the fishing boats coming in. Or the "Food Town", Castle Douglas is 15 minutes drive and definately worth a visit. Both towns are small and offer that old fashioned feel and charm, none of the pedestian and multistorey car parking (or charges) here!
