The Ironbridge Gorge was also the top recommended World Heritage Site to visit in the UK. About Sonia Bird

We moved to the village in 2005 and love exploring the local area, it's a delight to live in such a beautiful part of the country. Since we moved here everyday has felt like being on holiday and we endeavour to share our passion for the local area with our guests.

Sonia Bird purchased this cottage in 2005

Why Sonia Bird chose Shropshire

Living in the Ironbridge Gorge and alongside the river, on our daily walks we have spotted plenty of wildlife including woodpeckers, king fishers, otters, foxes and deer.

There are some beautiful walks right on our doorstep, it's a very tranquil setting that we love to share with friends, family and guests.

What makes this cottage unique

Both Puddle Duck Cottage and Duckling Cottage can be booked together for those guests seeking accommodation for up to 11 guests.

The property is perfectly located for walking, cycling, fishing & canoeing adventures, and exploring the wonderful historic area. Ideal if you are holidaying as a couple for a romantic break with a loved one or looking to spend some quality time with family and friends.

Although we may be dog friendly. We are also keen to emphasis the fact that many of our guests don't have pets, so don't want to know that a pet may have stayed at the cottage before them. For this reason, alongside our house rules for pets, our cleaning standards are exceptionally high, so much so we are confident that when you book a stay with us as a non pet owner you will be delighted with the luxurious standards we pride ourselves on.

We want our guests holiday to start the moment they walk through the door, so if you want to book an online grocery order to be delivered to the cottage prior to your arrival, you can. House-keeping will even put it away for you, get the log burner lit and the towels warmed for a soak in the sumptuous bath after a long journey too.

If you're celebrating a special occasion or just fancy a treat we can arrange a private chef to cook for you or have some delicious ready meals waiting in the fridge/freezer too.

The best equipped cottage we have ever stayed in! There were many, many kind, thoughtful and homely additions to this lovely little cottage we felt as if we were invited family - milk, eggs, bread, cake, biscuits, carved pumpkins, a dog toy, tea, coffee and biscuits! The place was spotless, warm and welcoming, we were surrounded by beautiful walks - along the path of the disused railway track and along the Seven to Ironbridge. We thoroughly enjoyed our few days at Puddle Duck Cottages, we didn't even manage to see all the museums there was so much to do! Thank you Sonia, all your efforts are much appreciated and we will be coming back.

Fab! Fab!! Fab!!!

5*plus - excellent location close to several pubs and good dog friendly eating places. Exceptionally well equipped and pristine cottage. Sonia was a very attentive but unobtrusive host and welcomed us and our two dogs, one a four month old puppy. Gorgeous area, would love to return but only to Puddleduck Cottages.

Beautiful and cosy hideaway

  • 5 of 5

Sonia and Darren have done a fantastic job to make Duckling Cottage such a cosy home away from home. The cottage is beautiful, clean and modern, with everything you need. So many lovely little touches when you arrive for both humans and doggies that we felt very welcome indeed. There are so many beautiful walks and great pubs to walk to from the cottage door, that in 3 days we didn't scratch the surface. Our two beagles were safe in the beautiful gardens and had a fantastic time beagling about. We hope to book again very soon.

Brilliant stay with everything taken care of

  • 5 of 5

Excellent stay. Sonia had treats and goodies ready for us in both cottages, fresh sheets and towels for everyone and let us have an early check in and late check-out. We would certainly stay there again and couldn't recommend her highly enough!

Hidden gem in Ironbridge Gorge

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful cottage - a real home from home. It has been thoughtfully furnished and equipped with high quality fittings and equipment. The property is spotless and well maintained. Everything you could possibly need has been provided right down to a picnic bag. There is a fantastic welcome pack - tea, coffee, milk, sugar, fresh bread and eggs, butter, condiments, spices, olive oil , cake and biscuits. For pets there are treats, bowls, towels and poo bags. The enclosed garden is safe for pets. The cottage is ideally situated close to the River Severn, the Severn Valley Way, the Silkin Way and National Cycle routes. There are several pubs and restaurants within walking distance. We can recommend the Woodbridge Inn and The Shakespeare for good food. Many of the numerous attractions of the Ironbridge Gorge are within walking distance. We can recommend the Tea room at Maws Craft Centre and it is dog friendly too. We had a truly relaxing few days in this lovely cottage. Highly recommended.

Fantastic Stay

  • 5 of 5

Thoroughly enjoyed our weekend break with the dog. The cottage was warm and cosy and every attention to detail was paid. Sonia had left a lovely welcome pack and even the dog was catered for! So much to do around the area, great walks and pubs to choose from.

Had a wonderful time and we're planning our next visit, I would highly recommend the cottages.
