Classic French country house set in area of forest and meadows down a small country road. Detached house in enclosed garden with private pool and large terrace. Mauzac is the nearest village on the Dordogne river with a small grocery shop and Post Office. The house is a few meters from the popular GR6 walking route. Quiet location but close to all amenities and villages in the area. Good restaurants close by in the beautiful village of Tremolat.

We fell in love with this hamlet and its friendly locals on a European getaway, so decided to invest in our own French-based cottage.

What makes this house unique

This charming region in the Dordogne offers an escape from the humdrum of city life. A fabulous locale for history buffs, with many Bastide towns. Those who love the outdoors will relish the chance to walk and bicycle in the area. Water sports are available, such as water-skiing and canoeing at Tremolat, a mere four kilometers down the road. Foodies will enjoy dining at the one-Michelin-star eatery, Le Vieux Logie, in Tremolat. Close to Sarlat, Les Eyzies (museum of prehistoric man) and Le Bugue.

Notes on accommodation: All bedrooms have room fans and ample cupboard space. Outside: The swimming pool is 5 meters x 3.5 meters and is close to the terrace. There are 2 umbrellas,outdoor table and chairs and 3 loungers. The garden is an acre in size with plenty of space for games. There is also a Weber barbecue available. Utility Room: Utility room off kitchen has washing machine and dryer and ironing facilities. Cleaning / Towels / Linen Towels and linen are provided. Property is cleaned on changeover days and towels and linen are changed on changeover days depending on duration of let. Other: There is a small separate study with a desk and WiFi available.

Lovely house and location

Really enjoyed our stay. The house is a good size and felt like a home rather than a holiday let.

The pool was warm. Huge dining room table and good sized table on large terrace. Beds and rooms were comfortable. The nearby village is a short drive away and has a small food shop and post office. Well located and pretty setting.

We had a lovely time in this very well equipped house. Everything there and the house feels homely. Pool a bit small but it is heated which is a big bonus. Mauzac is a super setting on the river. Interesting villages all around and everything you need for a great holiday.

Beautiful house in a tranquil location!

My family and I enjoyed a very relaxed and comfy stay in Le Bergerie. The house is situated close to some of the main attractions of the region yet in a very rural setting. The gardens and the pool were very relaxing and the perfect place for our children to enjoy. The house is lovely and very comfortable. We would love to stay there again one day.

Absolutely lovely.

We spent a wonderful week at La Bergerie and cannot wait to return.

The house is in a quiet, secluded location and is furnished and equipped to a very high standard.

The children loved the heated pool and the terrace catches the sun until the evening creating a wonderful place to relax and sunbathe.

We visited many achingly beautiful French villages, canoed down the Dordogne and ate at some wonderful restaurants.

Everything we wanted for our weeks holiday, just wish we'd stayed longer.

Lovely peaceful place in good situation

A lovely well-maintained house with a good garden and very peaceful situation - very good for birdwatching . In an excellent position for visiting the sites of the Dordogne and lots of good places to eat and drink in the area. We had a heatwave in the week we stayed and it was a lovely place to relax.

Great house in beautiful tranquil location

We really enjoyed our week at this wonderful house. The house is very comfortable and we'll equipped and the location was perfect for us. On the walking track, a short distance to the lovely hamlet of Mauzac right on the river (check out the Banana bar). Its also an easy drive to all the attractions of the region without being too "touristy" and only 40mins from Bergerac airport. Having the pool was lovely but the only gripe we had was the heater wasn't working when we arrived so it was too cold to use for the first couple of days.

The nearest large supermarket is in Lalinde which is 10 mins away. This house is situated in a declared area of outstanding natural beauty and historical importance. Lalinde was the first of the bastide towns to be built in this area. Walking trails are easily accessible from the house.

Close by in Tremolat there is a 1-starred Michelin restaurant and an excellent bistro. Many other good restaurants abound in this area.

Lalinde offers a large supermarket,banks,post office and other retail shops.

Bergerac too is only half an hour away and offers a wider range of banks and retail shops.

Canoe hire and sailing are locally available in Mauzac and Limeuil on the Dordogne river.

The local Dordogne English expert on birding,butterflies,dragonflies and flowers operates his personally guided tours out of Mauzac.

If the house is not left in a satisfactory state i.e. clean and tidy there will be a cleaning charge of €20 an hour

Changeover Day:
During the summer season and Peak season the changeover day is Saturday. Arrival should be after 16 hrs and departure should be not later than 10 hrs.

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
