A 20 minute drive takes you to the modern and vibrant city of Montpellier with its new tram system making it easy to see this fascinating city with its old town of narrow streets. 30 minutes and you are in the Roman town of Nimes with its Roman Arena and the Maison Carree - a fascinating place to visit. The property is in the Gard department which is part of the Cévennes National Park. There is the famous Roman aqueduct, the Pont du Gard. Also worth visiting are Arles that has a Roman Amphitheatre and is the gateway to the Camargue, and Uzes is famous in the area for its Saturday market as not only does it sell local produce but it also sells cloths of the region as well as plenty of tourist delights. The villa is within easy reach of the seaside resorts of La Grand Motte, Le Boucanet, Carnon, Palavas and the busy fishing port of Le Grau-du-Roi with a fine sandy beach at L'Espiguette and sand dunes at Le Grande Travers. The villa offers private parking, WiFi, a fully fitted and well stocked kitchen, spacious and luxury accommodation and a welcoming pool.

The property is a 4 double bedroomed property on 3 levels although the top floor and garage are not included. This means you will occupy double bedrooms.

About the Owner

We are Michele and Alan and we live in Southampton in the UK with our two sons. We love our French home and its been our haven for the last few years. Now sadly school is becoming more intense and so where we have spent three months of the year in France we can now only go for short trips. We are very sad!! In the UK we run a very successful cruise specialist which keeps us very busy.

Grand Villa.

Very spacious and comfortable villa. Lounge area is bright and airy with plenty of comfy seating, All rooms were very clean and overall well maintained. the outside area is great for al fresco dining. It lived up to the photos. The waterside setting is quite and peaceful with Kingfishers and other birdlife. There are some interesting drives with view points nearby but you need a good map to find them. The salt marsh trip near Aigues Mortes.is interesting (they provide English translation sheets).. Aigues Mortes is within a 20minute walk along the canal and there are good restaurants. There is Lidl store in walking distance and other supermarkets further afield and is well placed for exploring the Camargue.. The whole booking process and arrangements for accessing the property were good and went smoothly. Michele was very prompt in responses to queries. We have a lot of self catering holidays and this is probably the nicest one we have stayed in. We would certainly go back.

Great Villa in a super location

  • 5 of 5

We had a great family holiday in this bright and spacious villa. With nice views onto the marina and a great shared swimming pool, it is in a gated complex, v quiet and safe which makes it perfect for the kids. The old part of Aigues Mortes is a pleasant 20min walk along the canal and the there is easy access to the main roads for exploring the rest of the Carmargue. Highly recommended.

Location

From the Owner

We bought this house new from the developer who built the whole Quai. It was designed to resemble Port Grimaud and really is very beautiful. We have completely refurbished our home within the last two months (not that it needed it so my neighbours tell me!) Speaking of neighbours, we have some lovely people all around us on the Quai. My husband has a boat which is moored within feet of the house and we can cruise out to the Med on it which is fantastic. The house is safe for children as there is an iron fence to keep them safe. The local beaches are amazing and there are some wonderful restaurants. Our favourites are the the Mercure restaurant on the beach at Plage Sud and the Indian in Aigues Mortes but there are so many more. There's lots to do locally as well. We'll miss Am this summer.

It looks today pretty much like it did in the Middle Ages. The town is surrounded by fortified ramparts. It contains many shops and cafes and restaurants catering for all tastes. It is 20 minutes away on foot or a few minutes by car. Beautiful Grau Du Roi is the closest beach which is a 15 minute drive by car.

Montpellier airport (Easyjet/Ryanair/Air France) is 15 minutes away, Nimes airport (Ryanair) 30 minutes, Beziers (Ryanair) 60 mins and Marseille (BA, Easyjet, Ryanair, AF, others) 75 mins. Eurostar/SNCF options are frequent to Nimes station, and there is even a connection at Nimes for Aigues Mortes station - a 15 minute walk from the property. If you choose to drive Aigues Mortes is about 9 hours from Calais.

Distances:

A 20 minute drive takes you to Montpellier. 30 minutes and you are in the Roman town of Nimes with its Roman Arena and the Maison Carree - a fascinating place to visit. Further Details:

The local supermarket (Lidl) is a few minutes away on foot. There is an extensive market in Aigues Mortes on a Wednesday and Sunday. Further markets can be visited in Le Grau Du Roi on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The markets sell fresh fruit and vegetables as well as many other interesting things. Sommieres is another medieval town and is about 30 minutes away by car - well worth a visit. We have a representative who lives in the marina and will be on call should you have any problems during your stay. She can speak English, French and Spanish.

Facilities

From the Owner

We have a wonderful pool which is for the exclusive use of the houses on the Quai so its never busy. Its a few houses away and although it is very close we never hear anyone. As its professionally maintained so we never have to worry about whether its safe to swim in! My brother rented a villa in Aigues Mortes with a pool which was maintained by the home owner but it was dirty and as the owner worked he was hard to get hold of. We have lots of beautiful beaches and pretty towns locally. Aigues Mortes is spectacular and is a 20 minute walk away or you could drive there in a few minutes. There are lots of local busy markets which sell all sorts as well as some amazing food. There are also many wonderful local restaurants offering excellent food.
