Pine Lodge on Secluded Farm - lodge 2

Bedrooms 2
Property type chalet
Minimum Stay 3 nights

lodge 2

secluded wooden lodge. 2 bedrooms.

About the property

These pine log cabins enjoy a secluded south facing position on Snittlegarth Farm, with views across open country to Binsey Fell. A haven for wildlife, as well as the farm animals. Snittlegarth is home to roe deer, badgers, foxes, pheasants and a variety of songbirds, with red squirrels coming up to the lodges to feed. The original Snittlegarth Estate was owned by Lord Gillford and extended to 12,000 acres. It is now farmed on a smaller scale and has the benefit of footpaths from the doorstep on to Binsey Fell and beyond. Snittlegarth lies in a truly tranquil valley close to Ireby and Uldale on the northern fringe of the National Park and provides an idyllic retreat for those who wish to escape from the hustle and bustle of every day life.

If you want peace then this is where you find it

  • 5 of 5

Perfect place to relax and enjoy the quiet, nature and views. Lodge is clean, tidy and well equipped with everything you need for your stay (just bring provisions). Rod is friendly and helpful and allows you to wander about the estate at your leisure. The farm is located in a beautiful area and all the walks and attractions are a short drive away. I'd tell you more but then you'd book it and I won't be able to get a slot for when I want to return!

Beautiful, peaceful and full of wildlife

  • 5 of 5

Just back from a short break at this amazing place. If you want peace and quiet with loads of wildlife this is the place to stay. The cabin was lovely, perfect for our family of 3. My daughter (4years old) was able to play outside amongst the trees with minimum supervision and even made a friend in the neighbouring cabin. The wildlife is amazing, red squirrels, woodpeckers, owls, bats and even a fox. Good location for exploring the north lakes or simply just relaxing. Owners are great and are very friendly and helpful so would highly recommend.

What a lovey place to stay, the farm is wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely break after Christmas me and my partner and our two cocker spaniels came for New year. The cabin was so clean and lovely and warm, and has every thing you need, all you need to bring is your towels. Rod came straight away to meet us and show us every thing we needed to know, we had lovely little christmas trimmings and a christmas tree such a nice touch.

The dogs could run around safely and enjoyed the walk up to the top farm. The views are beautiful, we loved seeing all the dogs, chickens and a peacock walking around all the little birds feeding.

A great place to stay to explore the lake district, and lovely shops not far away. We will be looking at coming again it was more than we excepted!

we would recommend any one to come and stay here.

We thank you for a great time away from the city.

Comfortable, cozy, quiet, scenic

  • 5 of 5

Great little log cabin, warm, cozy, good sized rooms, good little kitchen, quiet, lots of birds on the feeders and red squirrels as well, farmer Rod is very helpful and makes sure you are settled in alright, amazing night sky, not too far from Cockermouth or Keswick for shops and pubs, great base for exploring the northern lakes. Dog friendly.Kids want to come again.

A few possible niggles: the shower head might need replacing for one that can deal with the low pressure (I had the same issue with mine and bought a cheap non adjustable one).

The track from the main road is unpaved, could be an issue for some cars, best to drive slow anyway as there are hens and sheep about.

Lovely quiet location, nature on your doorstep

  • 4 of 5

Paid via bank transfer without any problems. Arrived at met by friendly owner and his dog. Comfortable well equipped lodge although a little dated in decor. Beautiful surrounding area ideal for my toddler to run around. Fenced off too as was balcony. Near to civilisation and plenty to do. Will definitely be back.
