Looking for a relaxing get-away-from-it-all break in the French countryside? La Grange will suit you and your family's needs perfectly. Lazy days and restful nights can be found in this tranquil corner of France on the borders of the Charente, Vienne and Deux-Sèvres. La Grange has been lovingly restored over the past twenty years with the recent addition of a private, heated swimming pool for your exclusive use.

Why Mike Longden chose Vienne

La Grange has been in my family for over 25 years. It is very much a family home, having been bought by my parents when they retired. Since Dad died, Mum and I have developed the property as it stands today. When either of us are not able to spend time here, we like nothing more than to share our home with family and friends - old and new.

What makes this farmhouse unique

The best think about La Grange is the peace and tranquillity. I can pretty much guarantee that you'll get the best night's sleep that you've had in a while.

As there is little electrical light interference in the area, on a clear night the skies are a sight to behold.

Probably one of the best features of La Grange is our spanking new heated pool which we installed a couple of years ago - it's the perfect way to cool off in the mid-afternoon heat - or sit besides with a beer as the sun goes down.

"This was the easiest holiday I've ever been on. Easy to book, easy to get to, easy to live in. 2 adults and 3 teenagers shared the generous accommodation without any trouble at all as there was adequate WiFi, a gorgeous pool and an enormous selection of DVDs. The location was quiet and peaceful with lots of places close by to visit and the supermarket was only a 10 minute drive away for top-ups of wine and cheese! We ate out a couple of times but with fussy teenage eaters we sadly missed out on the traditional French cuisine and had to go with (the best ever) fish & chips in Lizant and Edna's Restaurant. The site managers were very friendly and helpful when the need arose and they kept the pool sparkling. All in all a great place to enjoy some well-earned R&R.”



"We had a fantastic time. The house was clean and very well equipped with everything you need to ensure you have a great holiday. A real home from home plus great location, weather and pool. I've a severe back problem and the bed was high quality and comfortable which makes a pleasant change! The pool and outside areas were perfect with decked area to relax on, grass area to play on and dining areas in both the sun and shade which is particularly important with young children. The location was peaceful giving us business owners the opportunity to actually relax, however free wifi meant that we could also stay in touch when required. All in all it was the best holiday that we have had with children and we cant wait to arrange a second visit. Perfect!!”

The property is suitable for both the elderly and children alike. Step free access on the ground floor from the bedroom to living areas and showroom / toilet. Please note, there is a small step up to the walk in shower. Outside: La Grange is situated on 3/4 acre of land within a small hamlet, which is made up of a number of other 17th century renovated properties. La Grange benefits from peaceful rural surroundings, with several walking and cycling trails within easy reach. Utility Room: A separate utility area contains a powerful and large BOSCH washing machine and dishwasher. Additional fridge and freezer within the property. Cleaning / Towels / Linen: All towels - both personal and swimming pool use - plus linen and bedding are included in your rental price. In addition, the property is professionally cleaned before and after your stay - at no additional charge.

La Venise Verte (Green Venice) is a lazy landscape of fens and meadows, shielded by popular trees and criss-crossed by an elaborate system of canals, dykes and slow flowing rivers. Boating, kayaking, angling and horse riding

Futuroscope is France's second most visited theme park, with a collection of virtual-reality rides which draw you into the action on screen. A great day out for all ages. Not to be missed.

Oradour-sur-Glane is the village preserved as an important shrine and chilling reminder of the horrifying event which saw the village inhabitants killed by the SS during the second world war.

Cognac is the home to one of the world's best known brandies. Visit some of the great cognac houses and cellars including Remy Martin, Hennessy, Martell and Courvoisier. Extensive tours and tastings available daily.

La Rochelle is an historic Atlantic port city, with medieval fortifications. The aquarium is one of the most visited attractions in France. Our nearest coastal beach is located south of here, at Châtelaillon-Plage.

Poitiers has been the provincial capital since Gallo-Roman times. Its pedestrian precincts, restaurants, pavement cafes, shops - and some wonderful central gardens - make for a great day's sightseeing.

Angoulême is an attractive walled citadel, packed full of fabulous restaurants, boutique shops and funky bars. The cathedral, of Romanesque origin, was extensively renovated in the 19th century.

Limoges is worth a visit for its magnificent Art Deco train station, the Gare des Benedictins and the craft industry that made the city a household name on a worldwide scale, porcelain.

La Grange is strictly a non-smoking property due to it's age and wooden/stone construction - however, you are more than welcome to smoke within the grounds.

Changeover day is Saturday.
