Apartment in Benahavis, Costa del Sol, Spain - Peaceful Urbanisation Set In The Centre Of A Pretty Village. Lots Of Restaurants, Shops And Bars

A spacious apartment with two double bedrooms, it has double glazed tilt and turn windows, with built in mosquito nets. There is English TV with all the terrestrial channels, no need to miss your favourite soap! The apartment is all electric, so no worries about gas bottles. There are wall fans in all the rooms, with three fans in the lounge. The master bedroom has a very comfortable super-king bed and the twin room has an English divan 3' bed and a 3'9" bed. Set on the first floor overlooking the pool, just a few steps to the pool gate. We provide 4 garden loungers and other chairs for the pool area. It has a quiet and pretty location in a well run urbanisation, within easy walking distance of the village centre. The apartment is well equipped with the kitchen having a dishwasher, washing machine ,microwave and full oven It has lovely views from the terrace and is not overlooked. Benahavis offers a number of options, a real chill out holiday either walking and enjoying the wonderful scenery, or just lie by the pool and enjoy a quiet drink or a meal in many of the wonderful bars and restaurants. Always a popular village, once "discovered" people come back year after year. The coast is a short drive away and Marbella and Puerto Banus are both easily reachable for those that want a bit of excitement. There is an excellent supermarket on the edge of the village as well as good local shops offering fresh bread and other essentials. There are several banks where it is possible to draw cash on the bank machines. Wifi is available in most of the cafes and bars. Benahavis has a lot going on, the local Town Hall caters very well for tourists of all kinds. There are mountain walks, river walks, a street market, a car boot/market every Sunday and many other activities going on, or you could just chill out!! You can make the holiday what you want of it. This village has the reputation of being the wealthiest village in Europe and it is very well run, with clean streets, dog bins and a daily rubbish collection. Rubbish bins are kept out of sight and the recycling bins are all stainless steel There are English run bars and restaurants, but there is plenty of good Spanish food on offer too. There is a feria in early August If you enjoy having fun If you prefer things quieter, May, June, September and October would suit you. The season is long,March to October and the weather is reliable Christmas and the New Year is a very popular time and the Town Hall put on a beautiful display of lights in the square. There is also a parade at Easter which is very moving, with Christ and the Madonna being carried through the street. If you are looking for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday, with plenty of sunshine, Benahavis will provide you with a memorable time!

About the Owner

Chris and Verity Rawlings have owned the property for about 14 years, spending a lot of their time there. Now retired, but still dabbling in antiques in Devon, they have decided to let the apartment for the times they are not there. They have been married for 46 years and have four children and 8 grandchildren. They hope that other people will enjoy the apartment and the village as much as they do. Because it is very much a home for them and their children it has been fitted out carefully, with attention to detail.

Great value for money

A very friendly, attractive urbanisation, close to the village centre. The Apartment was very clean and very well equipped although we found the decor a bit fussy for our taste. The gardens and pool are lovely, quiet and really well kept. The steps to the apartment are a bit tricky and there are no sun beds in the gardens, but there are chairs in the apartment and beach towels supplied too!

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the trouble to write a review and for your kind comments. Yes, I agree the steps can be tricky, not sure how you managed to carry the bike up! But so glad you enjoyed the gardens and pool We will be supplying four sun beds for next season, hopefully light weight and folding, along with the chairs. Always nice to have feed back so that we can address any issues. Thanks again. Verity.

Fantastic Location and Apartment

  • 5 of 5

We have been to Benahavis a few times but this was our first time staying in the village. We rented the apartment and found Verity so helpful and easy to deal with. Nothing was too much trouble and any questions or concerns were answered immediately and honestly. We arrived at the apartment and were met by a really nice and very helpful Janet. Again she was a mine of information about what was going on in the village as the festival was on which was just fantastic. The apartment was spotlessly clean with everything you need for a home from home. The welcome pack was received with much thanks and got us up and going on our arrival. The apartment overlooked the pool and was barely 2 mins walk into the centre of the village and all its fantastic restaurants and bars. Would definitely recommend Verity and her apartment, for a hassle free holiday in a beautiful location. Thanks again Verity and Janet.

Just perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We had a marvellous 10-day holiday in this delightful apartment in Benahavis in May 2015. It was well equipped and very comfortable, and the flexible booking arrangements were much appreciated - as was the welcome pack of wine, beer and groceries which awaited our arrival. Contact with the lady who manages the apartment locally was easy and she was very helpful. The swimming pool and pleasant gardens were a delight and were well used because of the unusually very hot weather. The apartment complex is close to the village centre, which has many restaurants to chose from if you don't wish to cook yourself. As Benahavis is away from the coast (but not too far!) it is essential to hire a car. Parking on the road alongside the apartment complex is no trouble.

We would highly recommend this apartment as a good base to tour this part of Andalusia - or visit the local beaches that we found to be clean and well kept.

a great little find

This two bedroom apartment in Benhavis village is a real home from home. It has proper comfy beds and everything you need has been thought of and catered for. Down a few steps and your'e in the village centre , where there are several bars and restaurants. Some are cheap and cheerful and others top quality. Its quaint and quirky decor is so far removed from the often bland holiday rental and I would certainly recommended it. The owners are easy to deal with and so is the lady who manages it for them . They even provided an arrival pack of basics plus a bottle of wine free of charge. Excellent value for money.

Owner's Response: Thank you Doug, we are so glad that you enjoyed your stay. You really understood what we were trying to give our guests, so it was nice that you appreciated it! We love to spend time there ourselves and always try to improve things when we are in the apartment, that can be hard because as soon as we arrive in the village we just want to chill out! Hope to see you again! All the best, Verity.

From the Owner

We fell in love with Benahavis, as soon as we arrive we can feel all the stress and strain of life in England falling away. By the time we are horizontal, it is time to go home again! Life never really changes in the village, people still wave and greet us like old friends and the routine has been the same for years. It really is a special place, tucked away in the mountains. Not totally immune from modern life, but it has its own pace and way of doing things. We really enjoy it there and hope others do too.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : malaga AGP at 45 Kilometres Nearest Golf : La Quinta at 3 Kilometres Nearest Motorway : AP7 at 5 Kilometres Nearest Beach : San Pedro at 5 Kilometres Car: recommended

Coast is about 5 km away, about 10 minutes by car best ones are probably San Pedro or Estepona, these are further away. San Pedro would be about 20 minutes, it has a lovely level front with parking right up to the beach. It is possible to walk on a special walkway along the back of the beaches. Estepona which is about 30 minutes away caters for children with playgrounds on the beach. Heaven Beach, towards Estepona, is for adults. There are one or two nudist beaches along the coast.

Recommend car hire. Malaga airport and Gibraltar are equal distance away. Malaga has more availability for flights, car hire etc. Airport pickups can be arranged, my manager can do it sometimes, but we have others that can do it. There is a charge by arrangement. Taxis are expensive from the airport, around €90 to €100. More if after midnight. You can hire a car for less than that! Look online for the best deals.

Marbella is approx. 7 kms. Estepona similar. San Pedro about 5 kms (take a short cut over the golf courses) Gibraltar is about 45 kms, recommend not driving on the island as the queues are long. Remember your passport! There are resorts or Selwo Zoo on the way to Estepona for the children. These are very much seasonal. The Town Hall holds leaflets for tourist information. This is the large building on your left as you drive up to the village. Marco runs trips up the mountain in his jeep.

Further Details:

Many different shops in the village, mainly small. General store, bread shop, fishmongers, stationers (with stamps) chemist, boutiques, artisan shops, second hand/antique market, street market (mainly fruit and veg) car boot/market on Sundays, gift shops. Several banks, Jason in Unicaja is English if you need help, but all the banks speak good English. Dozens of bars and restaurants, which Benahavis is famous for. This part of the coast is known as the Costa del Golf as there are many golf courses. WiFi is available in many of the bars.

From the Owner

Las Lomas is lucky in that it is built in the original part of the village "old town Benahavis" This means it is right at the centre of things. It is very easy to walk to the bars and restaurants as well as the shops. Other urbanisations are set further out and have quite a long walk to and back. Because of this, you really get a "feel" for the village and it does not take long to become part of it.

  • Notes on accommodation: We do supply a welcome pack on arrival. This is free of charge. We leave, milk, water, orange juice, beer, wine, eggs, bread and butter. Apartment is always clean with freshly laundered towels and sheets. It is set in an urbanisation which has an all the year round occupancy. It is not a holiday resort, it has a good cross section of Spanish, English, Belgium, Swiss and Portuguese. The President of the urbanisation is English as is the manager. It has an active committee and is very well run. Any problems with the pool or anything else is dealt with swiftly and efficiently. It is kept painted and tidy at all times. Outside: Lovely well maintained gardens, we have a gardener/handyman that comes in Monday-Friday. The grass is kept well cut and the pool is cleaned each day. Our terrace is small but has a table and two chairs. There is two hook over washing lines which fit on the edge of the terrace, washing dries in about 5 minutes! The terrace has a small plastic fence around it for added privacy. There is a gate to the terrace and a gate at the bottom of the steps, so small children can be kept safe. The pool has a locked gate for residents only. We supply pool chairs to be used only when in the pool, if they are left there, others will use them. Pool is kidney shaped of good size and depth, this is shared within the urbanisation, but is often very quiet during the day. The Spanish like to swim about 5 pm. It is not heated, this is not really needed in Spain. There is a shower and a toilet block in the pool area. There are some fixed sombrero type shades. Pool is surrounded by grass, trees and shrubs. Utility Room: Brushes, mop, bucket. Hoover, step stool, iron and ironing board. Laundry basket and pegs. Cleaning products (more in kitchen). Shopping bags, pool chairs, two ice boxes for picnics plus ice blocks in the freezer. Pool towels, coat rack and fuse box. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All towels and linen supplies, this includes pool towels and tea towels. Linen and towels are changed after seven days. Any extra cleaning is charged at the discretion of the manager. Owner pays for linen change. Pool towels are not changed.
