Super cottage

Nice cottage, spotless, comfy bed, very warm and cosy in autumn/winter, kitchen very well equipped; very quiet; owner provided wine, milk and even flowers (as this was my birthday break-away); ideal for two I would say (there is only a small dining table with two chairs in the kitchen, though we just moved them to the living room); well located to all the attractions to the north and the south.

What a cracking cottage!

This cottage is a real gem! Excellent communication with Tony and Angela before and during our stay. The cottage has been furnished and equipped to an extremely high standard and was very clean and comfortable indeed. The carton of milk in the fridge and bottle of wine with glasses left ready by the fire were a lovely touch and much appreciated. All the bedding and towels etc were of a very high quality. There is a large fridge/freezer, washing machine, toaster and all the equipment you would need to make a slap up meal, including a cafetiere for that very important cup of coffee!

We had a busy 3 days and visited Alnmouth, Boulmer, Craster, Beadnell, Newton by the Sea, Seahouses, Dunstanburgh Castle, Bamburgh Castle, Lindisfarne Castle, Holy Island and Warkworth Castle (which was our favourite!) There are so many places to visit that we ran out of time for Alnwick so will definitely come back again.

Unfortunately our experience with the pub across the road was not so good as that of others. We arrived on a Tuesday and took a walk over to check the menu late afternoon (the pub is closed all day Monday which we knew about) but when we went back at 7pm for dinner there was a sign stating that no food was being served Tuesday or Wednesday which meant going back to the cottage to try to rustle up a quick dinner. So on Thursday which was our last night we tried again and food was being served. The welcome was nothing special and the food very disappointing and certainly not the large portions mentioned in other reviews so we would probably not revist the pub another time which is a shame given its excellent location. However we would definitely recommend Dirty Bottles Smokehouse in Alnwick - what a find! Excellent varied menu, excellent food, huge portions, good choice of ales, very good value for money and a very warm welcome. At the end of our meal the staff stopped to chat and recommended places for us to visit. We cannot wait to return!

We would not hesitate to come back to this delightful cottage. We have already recommended it to all our friends. Thankyou Tony and Angela for letting us stay in your wonderful home.

This cottage is an absolute peach.

My wife and I spent 3 nights in the cottage at Rennington. The cottage itself has been superbly renovated and has everything you need for a great stay. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner Tony, a very pleasant guy without a doubt. We made a point of visiting Holy Island whilst in Northumberland and touched lucky as it was a totally calm day and despite it being the first day of October it was lovely and warm. A very special place for sure. Other visits included Cragside and Alnwick Castle and they delivered big time.

The added bonus to this stay is the village pub that you can see from the living room window. The Horseshoe Inn is run by Mark and Louise, two cracking people and they really made us feel very welcome in the village. Do try the food at the pub, you will not be disappointed. Very talented chef at the pub and whilst the pub doesn't do food on a Sunday evening (only a daytime sitting) Mark and Louise even did us two roasts as take outs which we were able to pick up after our day at the Castle..... and believe me the pub chef cooks a stunning lamb roast.

All in, a totally superb break in every way, and we came away feeling very fortunate to have met some great people and seen some great places too.

Chilled Break

we would like to thank Anthony & Angela for the way they have re-furbed this cottage it is fantastic inside and the pictures though good don't do it full justice the living room is a great size and all decor is well thought out we both commented on walking in how relaxed it made us feel, the view from the kitchen window was great for me as the Swallows were nesting there were quite a few around, the village is very nice small and quiet pub was ok i only went in once as the Chef was on holiday this week, it is very easy to go out from here to visit the many sites around the area.

this is the best place we have ever stayed at and hope to do so again.

Smashing.

The description was spot on, property was clean and well maintained. We would certainly recommend this to our family and friends. The weather was perfect which meant we were able to visit Alnwick Castle (not to be missed) , Bamburgh Castle ,Cragside and walk on vast clean beaches to our hearts content. Craster is well worth a visit . Make sure you buy kippers from the smokery and have a pint of TT Landlord at the Jolly Fisherman. SMASHING .
