Dating from the 1880s, this recently fully refurbished townhouse combines a superb location in the centre of Fowey with spacious living arrangements. The property has been tastefully and thoughtfully decorated throughout with flagstones on the ground floor and original wooden floors, staircases and bannisters as you head upwards. Each room has its own individual character, giving the house a boutique feel, from the featured modern stained glass window downstairs to the industrial light fittings in many of the bedrooms and the exposed beams in the master suite.

The three-storey property is on Fowey's main street, just a few steps from the quay with its shops, ferry to Polruan, restaurants and pubs. It is also a perfect jumping-off point for trips further afield, whether to access Cornwall's beautiful coasts or visit attractions such as the Eden Project or the Lost Gardens of Heligan.

The house has much to offer, whether for couples looking for a relaxed getaway, walkers and dog owners seeking an escape after a hard day on the Cornish cliffs, or families running straight into the downstairs shower room to wipe away the sand from a day on the beach surfing and making sand castles.

The house has central heating, underfloor heating in the main bathroom and kitchen and a wood burning stove in the lounge. Logs are provided for your first fire - perfect for snuggling up on those chilly winter nights.

Good Wi-Fi throughout the property makes planning trips easy and means teenagers needn't fear they'll be cut off from Facebook!

By arrangement only, well behaved dogs are welcome downstairs at a small additional charge.

About the Owner

We feel an emotional connection to Fowey having visited for many years - in fact we held our wedding celebrations at the Fowey Hotel. Soon after, we fell in love with this unspoilt Cornish gem with a bustling harbour and a picturesque estuary. It's a wonderful and relaxing place - with great food, drink and pasties! - and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

The property is managed for us by Katherine, who lives in Fowey so is on hand for any problems.

Coast/Beach:

There are several beaches near by:

Readymoney Cove Beach, Fowey - sandy with a swimming platform and ice cream van! 10/15 mins walk.

Polkerris Beach - sandy with pub, restaurant and cafe. Water sports available from the beach, great for swimming. 10 min drive then a short walk from the car park.

Par Sands Beach - a long sandy beach, great for a walk. 10 min drive away.

Polridmouth Cove Beach, featured in the Daphne du Maurier novel Rebecca, is 30 mins away along the coastal footpath.

Travel:

Buses go from Fowey to St Austell approx every 20 mins, where you can get connecting buses to other areas of Cornwall.

The mainline train service between Penzance and London Paddington stops at Par, which is 10 mins from Fowey. A bus to St Austell stops here too. Please note taxis do not wait at this station, but can be arranged to meet you.

Newquay airport is 40 mins drive. Exeter airport is 80 mins drive. Both Newquay and Exeter airport offer a hire car service.

Distances:

Lanhydrock house 6 miles, Charlestown 6 miles, Bodmin Moor approximately 10 miles, Truro (the County City) 20 miles. The Eden Project 6 miles. The north coast and Padstow is 40 mins away with Rick Stein's seafood restaurant. The Hall Walk is a beautiful route along the Fowey river estuary taking in both Fowey ferries and with pubs at both ends!

In Fowey you will find - independent butcher, baker, fishmonger, banks, post office, chemist, wonderful sweet shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs, art galleries, a book shop, fantastic home accessories and giftware, plus retails outlets including Fat Face, Joules, Seasalt and Quba Sails.

Self hire motor boats, harbour tours, skippered fishing boats, sailing, canoeing and crabbing for children are all available in Fowey and lots of different eating and drinking establishments.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: On arrival we provide logs for the wood burner. If you require more they can be purchased locally. Outside: Two tiered garden with decking throughout and views of the estuary. Access to the outdoor space is via a bridge from Bedroom 2. Utility Room: Just off the kitchen is a handy utility room with freezer and washer/dryer. The room is light and airy due to high ceilings and a Velux window. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Cleaning, towels, bedlinen and tea towels included. You will need to bring beach towels and if needed cot linen for baby.
