Good Value Cottage Retreat Alone In Open Countryside Surrounded By Large Garden

Overview

Property

Updated: 05-Nov-2016
Cottage near Challacombe, Nr. Barnstaple, North Devon, England - On Western Edge Of Exmoor National Park, 8 Miles From Coast. Wood-burner And One Dog

This Exmoor Cottage is a traditional country cottage on the Western edge of the Exmoor National Park with outstanding countryside all around. The changeover day is Friday. We have aimed to make the cottage extremely reasonable value for the country loving holiday maker. It is serviceable clean and well equipped. It is not luxuriously furnished but rather practical and ideal for families, walkers, cyclists, surfers and those loving the outdoors or a quiet retreat (and off peak there is a discount for only two people).

Being surrounded by a large garden with extensive lawns to the rear and pretty enclosed area at the front, there is no need to go anywhere else. But there are so many attractions in every direction. Many visitors have returned over and over again because of its superb position, traditional charm, large and attractive gardens, and the many outstanding attractions and eating places all around. The porch/conservatory provides an ideal setting to enjoy the front garden and nature in any weather. The wood-burner fire completes the cosy atmosphere.

We have enjoyed another holiday in your lovely cottage. The garden looked beautiful with all the primroses and daffodils - a perfect spot for a good rest.

Mrs Thomas, Devon

We had such a good break at your cottage. We loved the fire with such lovely beech logs smell and found the cottage to be really cosy and the surrounding areas beautiful. Mrs Johnston, Sheffield.

Just a note to say how much we enjoyed our stay at Park Cottage last week. Everything was very clean and presentable when we arrived. Thank you.

Holiday May 2015

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely cottage with everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The accommodation had everything we needed and was clean and tidy on arrival.

There is so much to do and so many places to visit in the area that we wish we could of stayed longer. We would definitely recommend a trip to Exmoor Zoo which is just a 10 minute walk away, and we had an enjoyable swim at The Tunnel Beaches in Illfacombe.

We stayed for a week at this lovely place and enjoyed every minute. It is perfectly located in order to explore the nature, national park, villages and of course the sea.

Great place for a calm, peaceful break

  • 5 of 5

I've stayed here a couple of times for a week's holiday. I work in London and it's a great place to escape to for a peaceful break in beautiful surroundings. The beach is within easy reach and there's plenty of great walks in the local area. Highly recommended!

We adore this place

  • 5 of 5

We must have stayed here more than a dozen times. In fact tempted to give it a rotten review just to keep it to ourselves. As the description says, it's not "posh" but it is our perfect family UK Summer holiday, away from anyone else but handy for all we want. Exmoor and nearby beaches, coffee shops etc are our idea of heaven while the 45 min drive to Putsborough and Croyde have given our teenage kids a love for surfing - our son bought his own surfboard which we transport from Liverpool to Devon each year (not too much need for it at home!). Terrific value too!
