A lovely house in a peaceful village

  • 5 of 5

We rented Casa Olivia for a week and had a wonderful time.

The house is very authentic and the perfect base for a vacation.

The owners had done a lot to inform us about everything. From directions to the house to tips for things to see and places to eat.

The house has a very nice garden with pool, where we could relax after a long day. The only thing we missed a bit was some cushions for the sunbeds and chairs.

We visited many places (Pisa, Lucca, Bagni di Lucca, Barga, Florence among others) and tried several local restaurants. The ones we liked best was Villa Aurora (Casabasciana), Marina´s and especially Buca Di Baldabo'.

If you want a holiday in Tuscany and stay in a quit village surrounded by beautiful nature, we can highly recommend the spacious, clean and cozy Casa Olivia.

You will not be disappointed.

Beautiful house in a stunning location

  • 5 of 5

We have had a wonderful week in this beautiful house. We had a warm welcome from the local neighbours, who showed us around the immediate vicinity and were kind enough to invite us to an annual street party event.

We visited Lucca twice and spent a lovely evening cycling the city walls and afterwards watching the world go by drinking Aperol Spritz.

We visited Florence by train from Altopascio- it was a long time travelling but worth the experience of an Italian train ride and much easier than having to park!! We also visited Pisa and Abetone, where we enjoyed the ski lift ride up to the top to enjoy the fantastic mountain views! Devils Bridge is also very beautiful and popular to visit.

The weather has been superb for our weeks stay and the pool and the garden have been a welcome respite. The views are breathtaking.

The house is very well equipped and comfortable. Our eldest teenage son was very impressed with the coffe machine and has now added one to his Christmas list!!

We ate at Villa Aurora one evening after reading the recommendations and is well worth a visit.

We have decide that a week is good but there is so much to do and see in the area, we definitely need an excuse to come back again.

Thank you for a fantastic week in Tuscany

Beautiful house with a fantastic pool and garden

  • 5 of 5

We have just enjoyed a fabulous holiday here. The house is so clean, well equipped and comfortable and the location is excellent. The village of Pallegio is peaceful with fantastic views, especially from the pool and garden. Everyone we met there was so friendly too. We visited so many amazing places just a short distance from the house -Florence, Pisa and our favourite - Lucca. We loved the local restaurants in Bagni di Lucca and in Casoli-fantastic food and service . There are good supermarkets in Bagni di Lucca and we also used the train station there to travel to Florence which was so easy and cheap. We swam in the local river and cycled around Lucca and we loved every minute. The owners were extremely helpful and had left lots of information in the house to help us enjoy our stay. Definitely a 5 star experience and we are looking forward to a return visit.

Beautiful property in a stunning location.

  • 5 of 5

The property is deceptively big, spanning over 3 levels and is presented beautifully. Location is stunning, albeit remote so a car is essential. Owners have gone out of their way to make our stay as easy as possible and a home from home experience.

Very comfortable, extremely well equipped character house in traditional mountain village.

  • 5 of 5

A most enjoyable week in this lovely area. So many places to visit. We travelled from Bagni di Lucca by train to Lucca which saved worrying about parking and was very easy. We enjoyed Puccini concerts on two evenings which finished in time to get the train back. We were spoilt for choice with restaurants and sampled several recommended by the owners, all excellent. The owners were extremely efficient providing detailed directions and information on the local area and Sophia, who manages the property locally, was very helpful and gave us various tips - the best one was to take the hire car back to the airport early, use the left luggage facility, and get a taxi into Pisa as we had an evening flight. This worked brilliantly - only a 10 minute journey in the taxi and there is also a good bus service at €1.20. All in all I would highly recommend the property to anyone who enjoys country living, good food and wonderful views.

Location

From the Owner

Following many happy family holidays in Liguria and Tuscany we decided that we wanted to buy our dream holiday home in the Lucca area. We wanted a traditional property in an area of outstanding natural beauty but with modern conveniences close at hand. In Spring 2014 we found our dream home and named it Casa Olivia after our daughter Olivia, youngest of our 3 children. We look forward to sharing our Tuscan home with you.

The location is great for walking, sight seeing and historical interest. Horse riding, white water rafting, quad biking and paint balling are offered at a nearby outdoor centre. Details in house (20 mins drive).

The location is particularly suitable for cycling which numerous stunning rides from the doorstep. The owner will be happy to supply details of recommended rides from the house tailored to your ability (Hors Category and Cat 1, Cat 2 climbs within 30 mins with numerous great cafe stops!)

Coast/Beach:

The Versillian coast is fantastic all year round (Main resorts Viareggio, Lido di Camaiore, Forte di Marmi). Wide sandy beaches and warm shallow waters makes it ideal for families. Here you will also find children's play areas every 150 meters along the beach and outdoor swimming pools. It has miles of shops, bars, restaurants and large weekly markets.

Further Details:

Things to see & do:

1. The famous historic Tuscan cities of Florence, Pisa and Lucca are close by. You can reach them directly via public transport from the Villa or alternatively drive.

2. Worth a visit are the beautiful towns of Barga & Castlenuovo di Garfagnana. Set amongst stunning

scenery, enjoy walking, cycling or visiting the many castles & monasteries as well as their great weekly markets.

3. Wine tasting & olive oil tasting is available all year round in Tuscany. In our area we recommend the Strada Del Vino (Road of Wine) which runs from Montecarlo to Lucca. Here you will find lots of vineyards along the road to visit, as well as large historic Tuscan villas offering guided tours of the estates in many languages.

4. Carnival time! - Make your Spring break one to remember by bring your dressing up outfits & join in the party atmosphere at the 3rd largest carnival in the world. There is good public transport direct to the carnival & back during the Carnivale season.

6. Music and Opera - Our location is the birthplace of Puccini. Visit the house where he was born, see where he wrote the last arias of the Turandot right here in Bagni di Lucca. Experience one of the many operas, music festivals in and around Lucca and Bagni di Lucca as well as perhaps taking an evenings opera on the lake of "Torre del Lago"

5. Nearby Lucca is a stunning walled mediaeval city. With it's music festivals in the Piazzas all summer long & cobbled streets, full of everything from Italian designer shops to restaurants. It oozes real Tuscan charm!. You can be there in only 35 mins by car or, simply catch a bus from Bagni to the historic centre. We recommend renting bikes available for all the family to cycle the famous walls around the city from where you will see great panoramic views of the surrounding area.

6. Children's fun parks - Get 'Wet n Wild' at the "Aqua Village Water Park" or have great family fun at the

amusement park "Cavallino Matto"

Facilities

From the Owner

The village of Palleggio is a beautiful, tranquil and traditional Tuscan Village. Once unpacked we have a feeling of total relaxation. There are so many places of interest to visit locally and the coast is within easy reach. As an alternative, we often prefer to go walking and then to relax in the garden and to cool off in the pool. We visit Lucca every few days when we visit as it is such a beautiful city with great restaurants and a famous music festival (This year Stevie Wonder, The Eagles and The Prodigy, covering all tastes!!) We love visiting and exploring local villages on our bikes to sample the local Tuscan cuisine and also the odd glass of wine!
