About the property

5 star Large family house in Criccieth over looking the sea, North Wales - 60 Seconds From The Beach. The High Street Offers Grocery Shops, Restuarants, Pubs And Bars

Ardro is situated with a stunning south facing aspect overlooking the sea cliff in Criccieth. The house has three floors and all rooms are packed with style and character. The dining room and lounge have the original wood floors combined with well chosen antiques with modern touches. These rooms and the master bedroom all overlook the sea and mountains. The large kitchen is open plan, has a lovely wood burning stove, and is perfect for family get-togethers. All four bedrooms are tastefully decorated, comfortable, and ready to provide a wonderful nights sleep. The front terrace is the ideal place to be sitting with your morning coffee watching the dolphins or in the evening with your wine while marvelling at the views and sunsets over the Llyn Penninsula. At the rear of the property is a lovely courtyard with lots of potted plants and outdoor furniture; a real sun trap and perfect for al-fresco dining. And as the day draws to an end you can listen to the rolling waves that will gently send you to sleep. In short - here is everything you need for a wonderful getaway. If you haven't done so already may we suggest that you visit our tripadvisor site to check us out.

About Jane Pinnington

I live in Cheshire with my husband Mark. We have 8 children between us and a scruffy little dog called kitty. Mark works as a lecturer at Liverpool university and I am a full time mum and wife.

Jane Pinnington purchased this house in 2012

Why Jane Pinnington chose Gwynedd - Snowdonia

Our families have always holidayed in Criccieth; our parents, and us as parents with our children. Mark & I married here in Criccieth, and when Ardro came up for sale, we knew it was the home for us. Mark's parents honeymooned 3 doors away from Ardro in 1947. Criccieth and it's way of life is in our blood. If your still in any doubt please check out our trip advisor reports.

What makes this house unique

We benefit from the peace & tranquillity that comes with being by the sea in a town that has essentially remained unchanged for decades. Walking (or just sitting) on the beach replenishes the soul. Fishing from our sea kayak while dolphin watching cannot be beaten.

Guestbook comments from the owner

“Awesome location + beautifully furbished home = best vacation ever!”

The Gibson family Medford, New Jersey

This was my fourth visit to Ardro, my husband's first - and it never loses its charm. What a truly wonderful time. You couldn't be closer to the castle, or the beach, and everything else is in walking distance. Ardro is the perfect family vacation home - well appointed throughout and lovingly decorated. The owners, Mark and Jane, ensure everything is tip top before your arrival. A fully equipped kitchen, fabulous ocean views, a private courtyard to the rear, leisurely walks into the village - we have stayed at a hotel in Criccieth before but would always choose Ardro in the future. Prepare to be wowed - the memories linger for weeks after your visit and you'll want to rebook as soon as you get home. Recommended it to our son and fiancee, too. They went in July and loved it. We're hooked!

“A wonderful property with owners that go out of their way to make your holiday as enjoyable as possible.”

5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

This was our second visit to Ardro. Once again we received a lovely, friendly welcome. I didn't think Jane and Mark could improve things last year but they have managed to! A lovely patio at the front of the property is wonderful for sitting out in the sunshine, people (or dolphin if lucky) watching. Ideal for lazing away those moments when others are still getting ready or you're just feeling lazy. We were lucky with the weather and were also able to eat out in the pretty courtyard at the back several times.

We found lots of new places to visit, as well as revisiting some favourites from last year. Ardro is ideally placed for lazing on the beach, long coastal walks, gentle country rambles or more strenuous mountain climbs. The Lleyn peninsular and Anglesey have loads to offer too. For those odd rainy days, and evening fun there are plenty of games and dvd's to enjoy.

Jane gave us the opportunity to try our hands at mackerel fishing; fishing rods available already hooked, but we ran out of time! Once again we had a wonderful holiday, and I have no hesitation in recommending this lovely property.

Special touch - evidence of the love poured into this property”

Lesley Cox and family

Lovely home, special touches to make you feel very welcome and nothing too much trouble, fantastic views from downstairs dining room, with chairs in bay, ideal for people watching -(when you can take your eyes of the sea view). Lounge is lovely, again with breathtaking views across the whole bay and over to Llyn Peninsular.

This is a house to love, and with new owners, the visitors book says it all. 'great'.

Bedrooms & bathrooms are lovingly furnished, even the back bedroom has a sea view.

Would recommend this house to all who appreciate good taste and comfort.

Unbeatable location, great house

  • 5 of 5

We were given a warm welcome and shown around the house, and there was a lovely selection of treats left for us too.

The house is clean and well maintained, and stocked with everything you need. The owners use it regularly for family get-togethers so it feels homely.

The location is perfect - right next to the beach, just a little elevated. Also next to the castle and the town. You can walk to a surprisingly well- stocked garage for grocery requirements, and there are supermarkets a short drive away. We were even treated to the magical sight of dolphins one evening, swimming very close to the shore for around 15 minutes or more. The house has several pairs of binoculars, but really the view is just beautiful without them.

Wifi was good throughout the house.

A perfect holiday home for our two families (4 adults, children 15,14,12,11).

Thank you!

Beautiful House over looking the sea

  • 5 of 5

We hired this house for 7 friends to holiday in Wales - and it was perfect. Such a great base for exploring the local area. The house itself is so beautifully presented and very well stocked with everything you could need for a holiday!

Great location, wonderful house and amazing service

  • 5 of 5

We arrived in driving rain, but were very welcomed by the owners. We have stayed in many VRBO's, but this was the best experience. The hosts met us on site, provided us with a welcome pack and even had the kettle on. The house is fantastic, plenty of room and very well maintained. It was perfect for our group of 8, 6 adults and 2 children. If the weather is nice, you can sit out front and watch for dolphins. We wish we could have stayed longer!

Excellent

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Ardro - the house is lovely with beautiful sea and castle views, ideally placed for beaches and town centre.

Jane is extremely organised and welcoming and the house is spacious and very well furnished.

The town has several restaurants, pubs and cafes along with an excellent fish and chip shop and ice-cream parlour.

I would recommend the property to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday.

Fabulous place

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely fabulous weeks holiday in Ardro.... lovely home with everything you could need. Great hosts that make you feel really welcome - nothing too much trouble. First class position in Criccieth, close to castle with fab sea views from dining room, lounge and master bedroom. Lots of great places to eat nearby as well as takeaways if you want... icing on cake was seeing dolphins in the sea while enjoying morning coffee in the lounge. Would love to stay again if we return to the area.

Owner's Response: Thank you for a lovely review. Glad you all had a wonderful family time at Ardro, Its so unusual to see the Dolphins this time of year, obviously the mild weather kept them performing in the bay. Love to welcome you all back soon. Jane and Mark P
