A lovely holiday home

  • 5 of 5

The Old Coach house is a well equipped and comfortable holiday cottage.

Very close to the centre of Ambleside and a gentle stroll to Lake Windermere, the location is great and the parking a bonus.

We had a fantastic week and are sure to return.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

We had a really enjoyable stay at The Old Coach House. It was a perfect base for exploring the Lake District and just a short walk from the centre of Ambleside (around 5 mins).

The bedrooms were both a good size, beautifully decorated and had ample storage. The bathroom had a wonderful 'rain' shower plus separate wand shower head. It was great that the bathroom was a wet room as opposed to a shower above a bath.

The Kitchen/dining/lounge area had everything you would need, was comfortable and had fabulous mood lighting. We loved the light fitting in the corner of the room! Having a washing machine/dryer and dishwasher in the kitchen was really helpful.

Access to an allocated parking space right outside the property was very convenient. Others have mentioned that the space was too small. However, although it is on the smaller side we were able to park a Saab 900 without issue.

Overall we had a wonderful stay and really appreciated the bottle of wine and gift vouchers for Stiles café (we had a beautiful breakfast there).

Many thanks

Great property. Central location. Perfect.

  • 5 of 5

Just finished a fantastic week away in Ambleside. The property is in a great location. Short walk in to town, as well as only being a 15 minute walk to the ferry. Very modern inside with everything you need. Exactly what my wife, 2 year old son and I were looking for. Having a parking space in such a prime location is a major plus, however be warned the space is quite tight if you have a particularly large vehicle. We have a Nissan Qashqai which just fit. Would definitely stay here again in the future and would have no hesitation at all in recommending this lovely property to anyone.

Owner's Response: We thank you for your fabulous review, so pleased you enjoyed your holiday with us but most of all what our Old Coach House has to offer with the added bonus of a beautiful location. We do hope you can return another time, this time of year is particularly more spectacular with snowy mountain tops from every window. Kindest regards Anita & Peter

Well finished property.

  • 3 of 5

Very high standard of finish but a few niggles. Tiny parking spaces and the property is right on a main road. The heating is difficult to control except by turning the boiler off as it gets too hot. The shower/wet room needs a curtain or screen as the whole bathroom gets soaked which is annoying. The rear bedroom has no ventilation once you close the blind in the roof which makes it very hot, don't know how you could sleep in the summer. Traffic noise is annoying and the bedroom doors rattle every time a car goes past. Lighting in the living room is definitely a case of form over function, either spotlights which blind you or a light fitting with 8 bulbs, needs a rethink. Problems parking when someone turned up in next door property and you couldn't even get into both cars.

Owner's Response: Dear Guest, Our cottage is magnificent and deserves it's 4 star Gold award from the most well known tour operator in the UK Visit England. Having a (normal size) parking space next to your property in Ambleside is just unbelievable, guests in other cottages usually have to use a car park which they have to pay for, it is unfortunate when guests are unable to park their vehicle correctly. Our cottage is so central, which is what our guests love that it is inevitable that there are some aspects which some people find difficult. Our house at home is in a very rural area and when we stay there we do notice minimal noise from the road but nothing out of the ordinary and as for the remainder of your 'niggles' we find them petty and mostly without justification.
