About Con Jan

My name is Constantinos, I am a 55 year old journalist and writer.

I speak fluent Greek, English, French, German, and Dutch.

My wife and I used to live in Athens center but 10 years ago, after holidaying in the area, we decided to go with our (then) small son for quality of life and moved to the beautiful Athenian Riviera.

It is a peaceful, secure place with friendly people, where one can still enjoy authentic Greek hospitality.

Our new property is located in a quiet street, at a short 5 minute walking distance from several lovely sandy beaches.

I live near the property and am always available for any info or assistance you might need.

Why Con Jan chose Attica

This Villa constitutes truly "the best of both worlds", it combines a relaxed beach holiday with a city trip to Athens

Just south of the hustle and bustle of central Athens lies one of the city’s most treasured assets, also known as “Greece’s best kept secret”: “The Athenian Riviera”.

You won't find the "Athenian Riviera" on any Google map; the name is local shorthand for the beautiful scenic strip of coastline, that stretches from the municipality of Paleo Faliro, just south of Athens, to the spectacular Cape Sounion, at the southernmost tip of the Attica province peninsula.

Easily accessible by car, bus or tram, the Athenian Riviera is a “must-see” for anyone wanting to enjoy Athens to its fullest. All along the gorgeous photogenic stretch of palm tree coastline, with it's five-star resorts, spas, esplanades, marinas, rocky coves, windsurfing, sailing and sandy beaches with blue-flag certified crystal clear waters, you can experience the kind of island magic that many people come to Greece for, …. without having to set foot on a ferry !

What makes this apartment unique

The fully detached Villa is at a short walking distance from several of the best sandy beaches in Greece (one of which is open all year), has a large enclosed front courtyard where children can securely play, a large lawn garden with swimming pool and also is "just around the corner from Athens center".

The owner is available to take his guests on several private one day tours with his car, to important archaeological site such as ancient Corinth, Delphi etc.

Owner's Response: Dear Keith and Sandy, It truly was a great pleasure to have you stay with us at the villa; one cannot ask for nicer guests than yourselves. We had been talking a lot for months on Facebook before your arrival and I knew your expectations were quite high, so I am glad that our villa and Greece fully lived up to them and that you had a great holiday, coming all the way from the USA. Thank you also very much for you kind comment as to my person, my motto is: "when guests arriving as strangers leave as friends, I am a happy person" ! One thing is for sure: you are now my friends !! I enjoyed the three one day private tours we went on :1. Mycenae - Nafplion - Theater of Epidaurus 2. Delphi - Osios Loukas monastery - Arachova ski resort and 3. Attica - Temple of Artemis - Cape Sounion/Temple of Poseidon etc.), just as much as you guys did, since your good company made them great fun to go on. Finally, just a short comment on the distance of our lovely beaches. It all depends of course on how fast one walks, but just as an indication for new guests reading this: the closest one is at just 500 meters. Thank you for everything and this nice review and we'll keep in contact on Facebook !

Un merveilleux souvenir de vacances

  • 5 of 5

  • 5 of 5

Stay here because....

  • 5 of 5

A little about the property before, I tell you why here….

The property itself is nice and provides several options depending on your needs. There are three apartments you can choose from. This is perfect for large family or groups that want to be together but have some separation. The property has a great front court area that is tiled and a wonderful contained back garden with pool and a grass area, great for children that want to run around.

The location of the property is wonderful; you are walking distance to a beach, restaurant and bakery. My family rented a car, which did prove to be nice to have. It allowed us to explore the area more and stock up on items one of several markets. We also reserved a car seat which too was nice to have. You will learn quickly that Greek drivers tend to move quickly.

So why should you rent here?

In all likelihood if you have been searching for somewhere to stay in this area, you have probably seen properties that offer a bit more in terms of being upscale in terms of décor, layout, etc. You have probably seen properties that offer everything above I mentioned as well. What you get with this property goes well beyond the great accommodations, great value and great location.

What you won’t get with other properties is Con, the host. This man is wonderful. Simply put, what he did for us was well above our expectations. Our trip to Greece was not just a vacation for my family. We came over to Greece in attempt to grow our family with IVF/Egg Donor. Because the process would take up to 10 days, we decided to bring our little two year old daughter and my wife’s mother to help when we had to be at the clinic. Con made the stressful side of our trip much easier. He took us to and from the clinic, twice. He checked in on us all the time, offering words of encouragement that you knew were sincere. Con will go out of his way to make sure you have a wonderful stay. He will meet you at the airport, show you around the area and will sit with you to explain how to get to and from the city. Con goes above and beyond with no expectations. He does this simply because he truly wants you to be comfortable and enjoy your time there.

No matter the outcome for my family, we will look back at our trip to Greece with very fond memories, many as a result of our host. He made the stressful side of our trip easy. Simply put, you can stay anywhere, but you likely won’t get someone like Con.

Owner's Response: Dear Tricia and Cory, I am truly lost for words after reading your sincere and warm review, written straight from the heart. Be sure that my feelings towards your family are the same as yours towards me; you came to us as strangers, but left as my friends ! I always try to put in the extra effort for our guests so they have a great holiday with us, because that is the service I would hope to get, when I would be abroad on holiday. I went a but further for you, because of the particular reason for which you were staying with us. Since we have had couples for IVF in Athens before in the villa, I know that it puts a lot of stress on them and does not allow them to really relax and enjoy their stay to the fullest. I must say that I am very impressed by the way you and Tricia handled this difficult and stressful situation. In fact, if i didn't know, I would say that you behaved just like guests, being on a regular holiday, having a great time. Respect !! Your friend for life in sunny Greece, Con

Awesome host, relaxing villa

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a week as a family of four (2 young kids) and echo the other posters' fantastic reviews.

The villa is clean and looks exactly like the photos. The bedrooms are on the small side but we prefer that this allows the large dining and living room space. The house had most things that we needed to cook (we ate dinner at home most nights) including even children's plates. Our host prepared a baby crib and baby chair which were much appreciated.

It was too cold to swim in the pool but it was great having the private, gated garden for our 3-year-old to run around in, as well as sit in the garden to eat lunch in.

We loved sitting by the beach (there are three within walking distance) for lunch while our daughter played nearby. There is also one with a small kids playground!

Last but not least, Constantin is the most helpful host we have encountered. He sent extremely thorough information pre-arrival, picked us up from the airport and even bought some items for our breakfast the next day since we arrived late and stores were closed! He gave us many useful tips and was always available to help us. He went a step further than what I would expect from a host; Example, it started to rain while we were out and he covered our laundry with a plastic sheet without us asking!

The only thing to call out is that it is about 1-1.5 hour from Athens and due to being low season, buses were irregular, and on one occasion the Metro stopped working. (There was also a transport strike on one day) However, Constantin went out of his way to help us since we did not have a car.

Owner's Response: Dear Jo and Laurent, Thank you so much for your nice review. A bit worn out from traveling all over Europe for months, with an eight year old baby and a three year old girl, I just thought it my obligation to make your stay with us as pleasant and relaxing as possible and I am happy to read that I succeeded. As to the bedroom, don't forget that we put the baby's bed also in there, which took up quite some space. I can imagine that waiting for the bus to Athens for even 10 minutes, with two very small kids nagging, can be a bit annoying. I just found out that one can download an App for the Athens buses timetables, which is very handy !! Finally, you were indeed unlucky with the one day public transport strike, but that happens very rarely ! Hope to see you again !!

Great spot for exploring Attica

  • 5 of 5

Choosing to rent Con's apartment was a good decision. The penthouse apartment was immaculately clean and the views from its three balconies were wonderful to wake up to. The local area is great; everything needed for a family break. Indeed, the local beach bar became our regular haunt! Nearby supermarkets, cheap restaurants and a fab local shop meant that we felt part of the community instantly. Athens is a bus and metro away, via a stunning coastal route. It was no bother to get to Athens and then return home for a drink and snacks at the beach by sunset. Con is a great guy. Friendly, helpful and kind to all. Stay here for a memorable week on the Attica coast.
