Brixham in the English Riviera - Five Minutes From Harbourside
A modernised cottage with character features in the heart of Brixham. Rose Cottage is a three story terrace house in the historic fishing town of Brixham. The property is conveniently located within walking distance of Brixham’s best attractions. Internally, the décor is modern and stylish but maintains many of its traditional key features such as the character fireplace. Throughout the house is a blend of old and new. The bathroom boasts a large shower and free standing bath. There is also Wi-Fi internet access throughout. Brixham is a charming seaside village with narrow streets and quaint lanes are perfect for exploring; and there is always something new to find. When you fancy a break from exploring, Brixham has a range of cafes and restaurants with stunning views of the harbour and surrounding areas. As Brixham is a fishing port it is easy to find a restaurant that specialises in fresh fish and you can regularly find the ‘catch of the day’ being served. This property is set in an ideal location close to local beaches and lovely scenic walks.

About the Owner
Our family cottage has been recently modernised and refurbished yet it retains the feel of the 1850 traditional fisherman's cottage it is. Brixham is a great place to bring kids and we enjoy family breaks and the proximity to Brixham harbour where you can buy fresh fish or eat at one of the many restaurants or just sit on the dock and watch the light change. We emigrated to New Zealand as children but returned home when we finished our education. We love the countryside, and that's what's brilliant about Brixham is that very quickly you can be in the lush Devon landscape. We love the seaside, and touring the English countryside.

Sweet little Fisherman's Cottage
We have just returned from a lovely stay in this cottage in Brixham. The weather was very chilly when we arrived and the owner had left a light and the fire on which was much appreciated.Overall the cottage was delightful and well equipped for a lovely weekend however I could imagine the lack of parking nearby in the summer could be a problem with children and beach stuff!!.....we used the overnight car park (6 pm-10 am) about 5 mins away..The cottage was clean and warm with a beautiful bathroom. We were 3 friend so had the luxury of a room each ,I was in the loft which gave me beautiful views over Brixham, its worth mentioning that the stairs up to the loft were very steep and there was limited head room ,but the beds were really comfortable and we all slept well.
For 3 friends it was the perfect weekend retreat .I ran on the South West coast path in the morning, the path to Paignton was quite difficult to follow and rather muddy, I managed to loose the trail in the woods so returned to Brixham and ran round Berry Head which was fantastic. We had lovely weather for November and spent a day shopping in the local craft shops in Brixham. We visited Dartmouth and were pleased to find all the facilities on Blackpool Sands still open in November and had lunch in the restaurant overlooking the beach sitting in the sun, wonderful!
The owners were very thoughtful and we had a few provisions left for us plus a call the morning we were due to arrive.
For a girls weekend away it was the perfect place to stay.
Really nice small cottage just back from harbour. Neat clean and plenty of space. Really liked being able to walk to the quay in a couple of minutes. We really enjoyed it. The top floor is tight but no problem for younger guests. My 23 year old loved it! You cant park outside but I was always able to park for free up the street. Theres a fishmongers on the quay fresh landed fish fantastic. Brixham was nice with bars, resturants etc. We used the ferry to get to Dartmouth would recommend it
Comfortable cozy cottage in Brixham
This is a lovely comfortable cottage, very clean and well equipped. The beds were very comfortable and everything was recently decorated. We enjoyed being so near the harbour and all the amenities of Brixham. We were able to buy fresh fish from the fish market and very good fish and chips.
Brixham is only a short distance from clean sandy beaches and there are good walks along the coastal footpath. The children enjoyed Dartmouth Castle.
Amazing weekend in stunning Rose Cottage!
The cottage exceeded our expectations and was perfect for our girls weekend away :-) It is very spacious and well equipped and so close to the centre of Brixham. We had a fabulous time and will definitely be back :-)
Charming period cottage
Spacious and nicely equipped cottage with attention to interior design. The bedrooms were extremely comfortable as well as having a fabulous bathroom with large shower and full sized bathtub. Owners were so prompt, pleasant and helpful with all responses.
Overall we had such a wonderful week in Brixham!!

“Brixham is a friendly lively working fishing town. The cottage's proximity to the harbour, its fishing trawlers marina and boats bobbing in the harbour attracted our interest. You can buy freshly caught fish or dine in many of the local restaurants. Children will enjoy crabbing in the harbour. The South west coastal path and Berry Head (a site of special scientific interest) is within walking distance. Shoalstone beach is a short stroll away. Dartmouth is close, and a trip on the ferry is a wonderful way of accessing Slapton Sands and the rest of the Devon coastline. In Totnes you can ride on a paddle steamer up the River Dart. A boat trip to Torquay is £2.00 from the harbour. Dartmoor is accessible. There's something for everybody and that's why we chose Brixham”

Brixham is based around an old harbour that still operates as a working fishing port. Fresh daily catches of fish can be bought straight off the boat to be eaten that day. Or, for the more adventurous, why not arrange a fishing trip? Meanwhile the children can enjoy catching crabs just off the harbour wall.
A five mile drive from Brixham takes you to Kingswear where you can catch the five minute car ferry over to Dartmouth. Dartmouth has old, cobbled, narrow streets where you can visit galleries, individual shops, delicatessens and restaurants selling local Devon produce.
There are amazing coastal and scenic walks. The beach at the foot of the property is maintained by The National Trust and is a natural sanctuary for birds and wildlife. The South Coast Walk also goes through this beach and continues along the coast. In the area are fantastic beaches and National Trust houses, and gardens all within easy reach. Further afield there is Dartmoor national park and day trips are more than possible for the rest of Devon and Cornwall.

From the Owner
“Rose Cottage retains the charm of the 1850 fisherman's home it once was, but is comfortable for six people and modern living. In a minute you can access supermarkets, marine chandlers, camera shop, a record shop 'The Cavern' in Bolton Street and the famous Mr Brown's linen shop. Brixham was recently described as the 'Naples' of Devon. It is charming with a fascinating history of pirates, smugglers, sailors and farmers. There is handy pub 'The Manor' a few doors down. Within twenty minutes you are in the country gazing at Tor Bay from the cliffs of Berry Head, walking on to Man Sands on the South West Coastal path. You have town, country and seaside all rolled into one locale. Wake to church bells, seagulls and the foghorns as the trawlers return with the catch of the day.”
