October 17 stay at Hinderwell House in Staithes

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderfully relaxing stay at Hinderwell House and were impressed with all aspects of the property, location, decoration, presentation and equipment.

We love the village and were made to feel very welcome by the locals, good food and hospitality at the local pubs and cafes and all other needs met by the local butcher.

We hope to be back in Staithes before too long.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful area

  • 5 of 5

Cottage was really lovely and comfortable. Very clean, with everything you need, and in a great location. The welcome pack was a very nice gesture. It would have been useful to have an information pack in the cottage detailing where the nearest supermarket was, how to use the cooker/hob etc, how to turn the heating off and what happens to rubbish/recycling, but we sorted things out for ourselves. There may well have been one in the cottage but we couldn't find it. Staithes itself is stunning and the cliff walk along the Cleveland Way to Whitby is a must, weather permitting. The views are beautiful. Thank you Simon and we look forward to visiting again soon. Jane & Jon

Beautiful Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We are just returning from an amazing weekend in Staithes, staying at Hinderwell House. The cottage is beautiful, well equipped, spacious and in a fantastic location. There was a lovely welcome pack for us when we arrived.

Simon was a fantastic host and went out of his way to make sure our stay was perfect. We would thoroughly recommend this cottage to anyone wanting an idyllic weekend in a stunning place.

We are thoroughly looking forward to our return next September if not before!!! Thanks Simon it was lovely to meet you and your family.

Jenn and Bryan.

Stepping back in time

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful hidden away cottage right in the heart of Staithes. We arrived late after a longer than anticipated journey with our one year old and we're greeted by the smiles of friendly neighbours who helped us with our bags. We were delighted to see a welcome pack with a much needed bottle of wine which we tucked into out on the cute front seating area and as it was dark we could sit and listen and watch all our neighbours cooking and laughing it was wonderful. As soon as we arrived we felt part of the community. Staithes is like stepping back into the 1950's with the gorgeous bunting hung sweetly from the aging original stone of residents homes and shops still standing from a time we can only imagine from our grandparents stories. There is a fantastic pub with beautiful views 'The Cod and Lobster', definitely head down there for breakfast and/or lunch.

There is also a handy Co-Op at the top of the hill before you enter Staithes if you need any essentials.

The house was perfect for us, so close to everything and plenty of room. We had our travel cot which fit perfectly behind the door in front of the wardrobe. The bathroom size and amenities were a welcome surprise. Also with having our little one and needing to be back at the house by 7 having Now TV was a welcome addition offering endless movie and series choices.

Perfect, cosy and conveniently located holiday cottage, I would definitely recommend to anyone planning a trip to Staithes.
