Cosy and Charming Cottage in Great Location

  • 5 of 5

Another great stay in Plumtree Cottage. The decor, setting and location are lovely. In walking distance to local pubs and shops and a short drive to The Cotswolds and other popular tourist destinations. The Cottage is set in a pretty garden with outdoor seating which we enjoy for most meals in the warmer months.

A lovely cottage. X

We had a lovely time and the cottage was fabulous with lots of lovely extras but we couldn't work out where the dishwasher was??

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your review, both for the 5 stars and for the lovely comments. There is a long running game at the cottage "spot the dishwasher" which not all guests manage to complete successfully without some assistance. It is actually in what looks like the lower oven of a dual oven unit. In fact the lower "oven" is a small dishwasher! I hope you'll return to Plum Tree Cottage amd make use of it!! Thanks for looking after the cottage so nicely. Best Wishe Janet

Wonderfully quaint cottage on the southern edge of the Cotswolds.

This traditional cottage is only accessible via a short stone wall bordered path which lead us to the magic of the garden

Two small patios shoulder the garden shed (laundry and second toilet) and the door to the cottage itself. We made good use of this space during our stay.

The cottage is truly classic, upgraded to meet all modern expectations but otherwise tradition. It will please both your eye and your heart.

After long days of touring, we found the opportunity to cook our own meals (breakfast and Supper) were easy as the cottage is well equipped.

The local grocer (Landis?) is well socked.

We also squeezed in a couple of in town pubs. They were great.

Highway runs through the village but you would never know it past early evening. The place quiets right down.

The cottage is ideal for adults but has kid friendly hints (puzzels , games, books) ; the perfect spot for a restful get away or a home base for touring the Cotswolds.

We just cannot say enough about Janet's wonderful cottage.

It is only short of perfect because there were not fairies in the garden...or maybe we just did not see them!

Perfect Cotswolds experience

  • 5 of 5

The cottage proved to be exactly how I imagined and hope the Costwolds would be. Very cosy cottage on a very cosy street, perfectly decorated and with easy access to many of the towns and villages of the Cotswolds region (with a car).

Access to the cottage was easy, with directions posted to us a few weeks before our arrival and even easier once we were in with all the instructions we needed to make use of the cottage and with helpful suggestions of restaurants/shops in Lechlade. There was also very useful material for exploring the region, which we used to decide how to spend our weekend. The chocolates were also a lovely touch.

The fireplace worked brilliantly.

All in all a brilliant first time experience of the Cotswolds and we would gladly stay here again and recommend it to our friends/family and anyone reading this review.

You could not ask for more

Plum tree cottage is a must location for the Cotswolds and the Oxford area. Accurate details to find the cottage ,went straight there. Beautiful interior ,furniture China and every thing you need for a stay however long. Enchanting cottage garden . We had warm weather but wished it had been cold at night to use the wood burner. The welcome pack is just right . We used the maps and the local information re walks.

We would recommend to others and we intend to return.

Village has good general store and post office. We had dinner at the riverside restaurant and would recommend it for "Steak night" on a Friday.

The only comment we would make is parking in Sherbourne road is not that easy at the weekend but there is a free car park in the village should you need it.
