Stonecrop is an outstanding property providing the most spectacular holiday retreat. The lavishly built property occupies a prime position above the Yealm Estuary in the village of Newton Ferrers, South Hams, Devon, a popular sailing village . The house is ideally located within walking distance to the Picturesque village with bustling local pubs and yacht club, also with well stocked Butchers, Post Office, Chemist and small Supermarket The Village pontoon is a couple of minutes walk where you can go crabbing, swimming and boating. You can walk to the village pontoon to catch the ferry to Cellars beach, an unspoilt cove on the estuary. There are wonderful coastal path walks. Stonecrop is a very spacious house, 4 bedroom, three contemporary bathrooms and large kitchen all comfortably furnished to a very high standard. There is a wonderful South facing sun deck providing breathtaking views up and down the estuary. The large gardens are arranged on levels with steps leading down to the road bellow, to the pontoon and the village via a riverside walk. There is on site parking for up to three cars. The setting is exceptional!

We have spent the past 25 years in Newton Ferrers having purchased our home for holidays and weekend breaks with the family. We now live here permanently and purchased Stonecrop 18 years ago and built it as a holiday home for our large family. Our children and grand children have spent many years holidaying here the They enjoy crabbing, swimming, walking, sailing, kayaking boating/ wake boarding. We have many a family BBQ on Cellars beach. There is plenty happening in the village to keep all ages active.

Stunning house!!

The house is absolutely stunning and very well thought out! The beauiful views, high quality finishes and general feel exceeded our expectations.

So spacious and really socially spaces in the kitchen/dining room. Access to the river at the bottom of the garden was great for he dog and the children who enjoyed crabbing in the river.

Lovely walk along the river path to the village, all the locals were really friendly and The Dolphin and The Ship are great pubs!

We had a wonderful stay and cant recommend this house highly enough.

Fantastic week in Devon

Stayed at Stonecrop for a week at end of July... group of 3 couples. All very impressed with quality of accommodation, location and views - the quality of which warrant the cost involved. The house has a homely feel, is very impressive and avoids feeling like a rental. Professional and efficient cleaning staff. Great area - fantastic walks and local pubs, would recommend it strongly.

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

Noss Mayo is a 10 minutes walk if the tide is out or a 5 minutes drive has tennis courts and a children's playground. There are Horse riding stables where you can arrange beach or coastal hacks.

There are many National Trust properties Saltram house ( Sense and Sensibility) 20 minutes drive away. the coastal footpath walk has spectacular views. Further afield is Dartmoor

Plymouths National Aquarium, Multiscreen cinema, Docks etc is 20 minutes away.

Coast/Beach:

Wonderful South Devon beaches and coastline are close by Mothecombe, Stoke Beach and Warren Cove are 10 minutes drive away. Bigbury Bay and Bantham Beach are a 20 minute drive away. The village pontoon is a short walk where you can catch the ferry to Cellars beach, an unspoilt cove on the estuary. Also, you can catch the ferry across the estuary to walk to the National trust Wembury beach which has a good tea shop.

Travel:

Travel to Newton Ferrers by car: SAT. NAV. PL8 1DQ. From the A379 Plymouth to Kingsbridge Road, take the B3186 signposted Newton Ferrers. Enter the village and just before the Church turn right in to Court Road. Towards the end of Court Road, turn left in to Lower Court Road. Stonecrop is a short distance along on the left hand side.

By rail to Plymouth Station, 10 miles away. If coming by train a taxi would take half an hour. The nearest airport is Exeter, which is one hour away by car.

Distances:

Newton Ferrers village is a short walk away with a Co-op, Post Office ( selling freshly baked bread), Butcher and Chemist. Three pubs and a yacht club.

Further Details:

Local shops sell everything you need. Riverford Farm Shop (5miles) sells organic produce and Pick-your-own. Sainburys, Tescos supermarkets are about half an hour away, but local shopping is encouraged.

Plymouth is 10 miles, 20 minutes away by car or bus. National Trust Houses of Saltram (4miles), Buckland Abbey (16 miles) Cotehele (18 miles) and St Anthony (18 miles). The market towns of Modbury (6 miles) and Kingsbridge (10 miles) and Salcombe (13 miles).
