Casa das Pedras, a house in the village of Jardim do Mar - Private Courtyard With BBQ

Casa das Pedras is situated at the edge of the village in an area known as the Pontinha or 'little headland'. It is reached by a 200m footpath from the village square. It is a two story house with two double bedrooms. It has a bathroom providing a WC, bidet, hand basin and shower, and a second separate WC with hand basin. The lounge and kitchen is open-plan. The lounge has satellite TV and WiFi Internet access. The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, fridge freezer, microwave, coffee maker and toaster. Had a great time at Casa days Pedras over the new Year. Communication was excellent, Ray wasn't there at the time but we were met by Lucia who took us to our villa and helped with any questions. The villa was great and was great value for money. It's about a 6 minute walk from the village centre with steps so if you are brining shopping or have difficulty walking bear this in mind. The villa is right next to the sea which we found fab, there can be fairly big waves so watch out for the noise if that kind of thing bothers you. For those who like their vino we couldn't find a bottle opener but rest assured there is one now! The village was in our opinion is the best in Maderia, we spent a great night with the locals on New Years and ended up eating soup and rolls and dancing with them, great experience! Thanks to Joe from Joe's bar and Annie (Expat) who we met there and who made us feel so welcome. We really hope to come back to Maderia and would definately choose this village and host again. A beautiful location and great value

Jardim do Mar is a great place for a peaceful holiday,and Joe`s Bar was the friendliest eating place we found on the island. The house was clean, comfortable and well-equipped,and most evenings we enjoyed sitting on the balcony, drink in hand, to watch the sunset. the secluded courtyard was perfect for BBBQs. Cant wait to go back.

Jardim do Mar is generally recognized as Madeira's prime location for a quiet relaxed holiday in a traditional Portugese village.

Coast/Beach:

The village has pebble beaches suitable for swimming at each end of the promenade. The promenade is accessed directly by a short footpath and a flight of 80 steps.

Travel:

Funchal airport and city are 45 mins drive along the new coast road.

Further Details:

The small village of Jardim do Mar looks out to sea at the foot of spectacular cliffs. Just 45 minutes’ drive from the airport on the sunny southwest-facing shore, this tranquil unspoiled village of old stone houses and cobbled footpaths is considered to be one of the most beautiful on the island. It has a small hotel, 2 friendly bars, a restaurant, and a village shop. A new car park at the edge of the village leaves the square largely free of cars, and there is a seafront pedestrian promenade lined with palm trees. The little harbour has a clean pebble beach for swimming and snorkelling, with an attractive beach bar. The next village Calheta (5 min. drive) has a busy marina, a sandy bathing beach, shops and several more restaurants. Whale and dolphin watching or fishing excursions can be arranged from Calheta. Some of the island's finest scenery and walking are within a 20 minute drive into the mountains.
