Just a quick thank you for the use of Forge Cottage last week. We loved it, the dog loved the Rayburn and the conservatory. The Star at Harome was lovely. The weather was all over the place but we enjoyed it all the same. Hope to go back again soon!

Super

Forge Cottage was super and very pretty. A home away from home. It felt as if a friend had lent us his cottage for a week. We loved the books and all the guides and maps. And the Rayburn, although it was a bit hot in the kitchen due to the beautiful weather. I even succeeded in making complete meals on the Rayburn. The garden and sunbeds were also much appreciated. Helmsley is a lovely village with great food, in shops and restaurants. We had a great holiday!

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review and I'm delighted you enjoyed your holiday! We try hard to make the cottage welcoming for our guests by providing books and local maps for guests to use during their stay. The garden is private and well looked after and catches the sun most of the day. The Rayburn stove is a traditional feature of cottages in the area, made by "Aga" it provides a great way to cook lovely meals, as well as making the kitchen warm and cosy. I look forward to welcoming you back to Forge Cottage!

Fantastic cottage - whole family loved it!

  • 5 of 5

This was one of the best self-catering cottages our family has stayed in. Extremely comfortable and clean, with plenty of room for everyone to spread out in for the week. Children loved their bedroom with its arched entrance and sloping ceiling. Kitchen was very well stocked indeed and the rayburn made cooking an interesting adventure rather than a holiday chore! Thoughtful little extras like a couple of tablets for the dishwasher and the washing machine make a huge difference - those are the things that you often forget to pack.

Overall, felt much more like a home than a holiday rental and we definitely hope to be back.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your review. We work with our housekeepers to make the cottage as welcoming as possible for our guests. We know your time away is precious, therefore making it as care free as it can be is our aim! We also stay in the cottage ourselves regularly, so can see first hand if anything needs improvement. Glad you enjoyed the Rayburn! We love it and it cooks great roasts, casseroles and cakes for those who like baking! We look forward to welcoming you back to Forge Cottage!

Lovely & spacious cottage

  • 5 of 5

Forge Cottage is set up to a high standard. We stayed as a party of 5. The conservatory and useable sized garden make it all the more pleasant in the summer. It's only a few minutes walk into town and you do have direct access to country walks and cycle rides from the door. A great choice if you are looking for a plush let for the week.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review and I'm delighted you had an enjoyable stay. Yes the conservatory is a great place to relax during the summer with its views of the pretty and secluded rear garden. Helmsley is a perfect base to explore the moors: lots of walks start from there & it's on the famous Cleveland Way. Helmsley is a good market town with lots of restaurants and shops to return to also! Forge Cottage is a just a short stroll into the Market Square! Thanks again for your review!

Well maintained, wel equipped, charming & cosy in fantastic town location. Lovely garden.

  • 4 of 5

Can't fault anything about the cottage, everything we needed was there and in a great location in the charming town of Helmsley.

We stayed in mid Feb and the weather was cold but the cottage was warm and cosy - especially with the open fire during the evenings. There were books and games etc to keep us entertained if needed but with so much to do andd see locally there was little need.

That one bedroom is located at the far end of the cottage up a separate set of stairs might be an issue for some - luckily our 6-year-old was delighted to have her own little corner of the house with it's owndedicated showerroom.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review and glad that you had a good stay! Yes the cottage is warm and cosy in winter and we keep a stock of books and game for guests to enjoy. The cottage is located close to all the amenities of Helmsley and a short drive to the North York Moors. The third bedroom is off a separate staircase, which provides greater privacy and has a vestibule with wardrobe and it's own, downstairs shower room that we have newly replaced. Essentially it's like a suite. Thanks again for your review and we look forward to welcoming you back to Forge Cottage!
