Overview

About the property

House in Treknow, Cornwall, England - Prominent Position Next To The Stunning Coastal Path With A 10 Minute Walk To The Beach And Pub

Tregosse is a fantastic holiday home with 5 bedrooms spread over 2 floors. They are large, 3 with ensuites, and all with outstanding views across the ocean. The living areas have a great feeling of light and space with high ceilings and bay windows out towards the sea and the wood burner makes it cosy on a cold night. The beach at Trebarwith Strand is beautifully clean, has a surf school in the summer months and is great for rock pools, caves and bucket and spade. You can enjoy a well earned drink at the Port William pub or dinner in the Mill House just up the valley. A little further afield (20-30 min drive) there is the Camel Trail and the famous beaches at Polzeath and Rock. Bodmin Moor has some stunning scenery and there are a handful of great golf courses for all abilities.

About Sophia Coombes

My husband and I have 2 children aged 4 & 6 and move around a lot due to my husbands job. We both grew up loving the outdoors and spent many holidays in Cornwall so we are hoping to give our children the same freedom.

Sophia Coombes purchased this house in 2010

Why Sophia Coombes chose North Cornwall

This property stood out for us because of its size, proximity to the beach and its incredible views. To be able to walk to the beach eliminates the problems with parking and traffic which can get so bad during the summer months in Cornwall. Having the number of bedrooms enables us to have other family & friends to stay in complete comfort and we look forward to our time there very much.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Some quotes from our visitors book:

Tregosse certainly exceeded our expectations; vast-perfect for two families, yet homely and beautifully decorated. The highlight was opening the curtains every morning to the breathtaking view of the sea. We walked down the path to Trebarwith Strand every morning for the best coffee and chocolate brownie in Cornwall, and played on the beach. Evening walks along the coastal path to the church and beyond were sublime. Our best thoughts- trips to Boscastle, Polzeath, Cycling on the Camel Trail from Wadebridge to Padstow and the astonishing Bedruthan steps! We could quite happily stay another week.

Thank you so much for letting us come and stay in this magical place. The house is fantastic, so well equipped and the location could not be better. We wish we could wake up to that view every day!! Four days away has left us refreshed and ready to face the next semester of teaching!!!!

Guests from Uni of Bath

Had an amazing time, I've never been to Cornwall before and now I want to live here. The weather and views were amazing and you have a lush house. Trebarwith Strand is really fun, oh and the bookshelf was great.

Home Sweet Home

  • 5 of 5

The house is exceptional. The photos do not do it justice. All the rooms are very, very spacious.

The kitchen and dining area are huge. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need.

The utility room & downstairs shower is a perfect addition, and was very welcome after a rather wet walk one day with little ones and dogs - no wet boots, coats or dogs trailing around the house!

There was ample parking for three cars.

The garden is a good size for children and secure for the dogs. And there is a lovely BBQ too.

Any complaints? Yes, we only had one week there - none of us wanted to go home!

Beautiful house in stunning location

  • 4 of 5

There were 9 of us in this spacious house and there was plenty of room for all of us. The boot room was very useful for all of our coats and boots, specially the shower which was used for rinsing off our small dog after he went in the sea. The kitchen was well equipped as was the rest of the house. The cliff path going down to Trebarwith strand and the other way to Tintagel was lovely as the views from there are amazing but going back up is not for the faint hearted. The weather was not very summery and rained at times but there is always the Port William to have a meal and a look at the impressive waves. We visited Boscastle, Padstow, Daymer Bay and Tintagel, all within easy reach.Cornwall is beautiful, we go every year, but gets very busy in August when we were there. So if not going with school age children it is best to come in July or September.

Large spacious with amazing views

  • 4 of 5

Just returned from an amazing family break - 10 of us and 2 dogs. The house is large and spacious - plenty of social and circulation space so you don't feel like you're on top of each other. All mod cons but homely - not stuffy / show home like! Large utility room with shower was a life saver after beach trips!!! Beds comfy and linen good quality. Hot water coped with all of us too!

The views are stunning with the house being in a commanding position above Trebarwith Strand. It was a 15 minute cliff top walk to the beach or longer to Tintagel.

We did a Tesco online delivery - lifesaver for a big group but you can get normal supplies in Tintagel. We ate out one night for a birthday - pub in Trebarwith not able to take booking but Italian in Tintagel did.

Parking at house for 4 cars.

Only downer - couldn't work out recycling so lots of refuse and needed more wine glasses and tumblers.

Heaven on Earth

  • 4 of 5

We loved Tregosse House! The location was perfect, the views are outstanding, in all directions. Being so close to the South West Coast Path, literally at the end of the field, the sheep out our window, it was as advertised. We walked to Tintagel, had a beach day at Trebarwith Strand. It was great, but definitely check the tide times, because there's no beach at all at high tide. We went to the Port William pub a few times.

The house was well equipped. The new utility room was lovely. The only thing missing, in my friend's opinion, was a coffee maker, so he bought one.

It's truly a special part of the world. We also visited Padstow, Port Isaac, St. Ives and Port Isaac. They were actually filming new episodes of Doc Martin, so we got to meet some of the cast, which was very exciting for me.

We had great weather. There was mist done evenings and mornings, but it burned off quickly.

A view with lots of rooms

  • 5 of 5

This is an ideal house for a family holiday. A safe enclosed garden, front and side porches (not shown in the picture) for boots, wet suits and sadly rain gear; plenty of loos, showers and a bathroom, a large kitchen diner and an equally spacious sitting/ play room. Paths or a road lead steeply down to two good pubs with excellent food and a surf shop that caters for all sizes. Tintagel with its Castle, pubs, Camelot Hotel and shops are 1/2 hour walk or a few minute drive away. The beds were comfortable and the house was spotless. Though it rained every day we still used the BBQ three times and had a most enjoyable holiday together.

Location

Car: necessary

Coast/Beach:

Trebarwith Strand sandy beach is a 10 minute walk. It is a stunning tidal beach with pubs, cafes, shops and surf school (summer only). The beach itself is great for rock pools, mussel picking, caves, sand and surfing. The coastal path is across the field at the front of the house.

Travel:

It is advisable to come by car but here are the nearest transport routes.

AIRPORT - Newquay: 20 Miles

FERRY - Plymouth: 45 Miles

TRAIN - Bodmin Parkway: 20 Miles

MOTORWAY - M5 Exeter: 60 Miles

Further Details:

Tintagel is just 1 mile and has restaurants, a butcher, spa, cash point and plenty of tourist shops. Further afield there are supermarkets in Camelford, Wadebridge and Bodmin, most of which do deliver.

There are many great restaurants and pubs in the area with the most reputable probably being in Port Isaac and Rock.
