Overview

Property

Updated: 11-Nov-2016
Luxury Farmhouse Cottage near Montirat, Tarn

www.LaJouanade.com / domyounger@me.com

Relax and escape at La Jouanade Chalet, an idyllic, romantic and luxury countryside retreat. This one bedroom cottage is full of character and is light and airy. Arranged over two floors, it is beautifully finished with quality linen and all the creature comforts. Le Chalet remains sympathetic to it’s history as a granary, with many original features to be found both inside and out.

Le Chalet is situated away from the Main House in a small secluded garden, complete with its very own vegetable patch. Feel free to pick some vegetables or herbs to complement your meals!

As well as the garden there is a private 'treehouse' style raised deck made from rustic driftwood. Step straight out from your bedroom and enjoy the beautiful nature that surrounds you. At sunset the deck is ideally placed to catch the last rays of sunshine as you enjoy a glass of local wine or tend to the BBQ. Enjoy your meals on the deck under atmospheric festoon lighting, or simply gaze at the stunning and magical night sky.

Upstairs consists of a large bedroom with a vaulted ceiling, including original oak beams and floor. Relax and unwind in a comfortable double-bed with an orthopaedic mattress and fresh quality linen. Towels, poolside towels and a hairdryer are included.

The spacious ensuite shower-room features a walk-in shower, a heated towel rail, an up-cycled Singer sewing machine sink and beautiful views over neighbouring countryside.

Downstairs you will find the open plan kitchen and lounge.

The kitchen is very well appointed with an electric oven and hob, microwave oven, undercounter fridge freezer, dedicated wine fridge, Nespresso coffee machine and a washing machine. A moveable Weber BBQ is located on the deck.

Relax in the lounge area on a comfortable 2-seater sofa and footstool.

For your entertainment there is a flatscreen 36" Television, DVD player with a selection of DVDs, Stereo with aux input for mp3 players, a Wii games console, boardgames and cards, plus a selection of books to read.

Le Chalet guests also have access to two acres of beautiful gardens and a large saltwater swimming pool.

Whilst the swimingpool is shared with the owners, guests in Le Chalet will be given priority.

For fun in and around the pool there is a selection of inflatable lilos plus garden games such as croquet and giant Jenga.

There is also a lockable storeroom available for guests with bicycles.

La Jouanade is located near to Montirat in the north of the Tarn, next to the Aveyron and Tarn et Garonne regions. A short drive to the renowned bastide market towns of Najac, Cordes-sur-ciel and St Antonin. There are so many different landscapes on your doorstep, including wooded valleys, majestic rivers and lakes. The area is superb for walking, swimming, fishing, horse riding, kayaking, wildlife watching, view admiring, wine tasting and much much more. There is something for everyone from the adventure seeker to those who simply want to unwind and relax.

The nearest supermarket, bakers, butchers, post office and bank are a 5 minute drive. Plenty of child and dog friendly restaurants/bars in the area. The local creperie is 5 minutes drive away at a gorgeous spot on the river Viaur. In the evenings they have live music and a friendly family ambiance.

Wonderful,beautiful,peaceful

  • 5 of 5

The house and its position was fantastic, a very peaceful location. The view sitting around the pool and having breakfast were one you could happily look at always. The house was well equipped, I don't think there was anything we thought I wonder if there is a ......, without then going on to find.

Dom and Fay were great, lovely people, happy to part with local knowledge of the area, which is always a bonus.

Would definetly recommend to anyone wanting to holiday in the region.

What more can I say fantastic.

Fantastic holiday

  • 5 of 5

This was our second holiday at La Jouanade and we enjoyed it just as much this time. The house is spotlessly clean and well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay including internet and UK satellite TV. The pool is perfectly located with views over rolling countryside. We ate outside nearly every evening as the house provides shade from the hot sun in the evenings. The chickens are a great addition, providing much amusement.

The surrounding area has plenty of places to visit but we spent most of our time relaxing by the pool at this beautiful house in tranquil countryside.

Good summer getaway home

  • 4 of 5

My wife and 9 year-old stayed at this charming home for a week earlier this summer and had a really nice time. The house itself is located in a very calm and peaceful country setting in the Tarn region. The rooms inside are good and the beds are comfortable, with good quality mattresses.

We used the pool quite a bit, and the grounds around the home are huge, with plenty of place for impromptu games of hide-and-go-seek. Dom and Fay are friendly hosts and quick to respond to any issue that may arise. Overall, we had quite a pleasant stay.

A beautiful farmhouse with countryside to match...

  • 5 of 5

We would recommend a stay at La Jouanade without hesitation.

When we arrived, the owner, Dom, was on hand to greet us and he made us feel very welcome. We thought we had booked a lovely Farmhouse set in beautiful countryside and it did not disappoint. There are unspoilt views from all sides of the property and this is particularly true from the rear of the farmhouse where the pool is situated. The pool itself was well maintained and crystal clear which was such a relief as we have stayed in properties before where this was not the case. There is no shortage of space in the garden to enjoy a kick about or a game of Frisbee, which we did.

The farmhouse was clean and tidy with good sized bedrooms and we avoided the usual arguments between the children as there wasn't a short straw to be had. The bathroom was spacious with a very modern look and there was plenty of hot water to be had, nobody was subjected to a cold shower.

The kitchen is small but well equipped and contained a very welcome “welcome pack”. The dining room and lounge were very spacious and having UK TV enabled my son to watch “Match of the Day” which sent him into raptures.

There was a storm one evening which caused a power cut but there were plenty of candles to hand and it turned out to be one of our most enjoyable evenings. If you haven’t played Trivial Pursuit by candlelight then I suggest you try it.

We spent a lot of days relaxing around the pool as the weather was perfect but we did visit most of the surrounding areas. The rural location does mean a >30 minute drive before you access any “major roads” but we didn't mind this at all. There is a lot of information available at the property of things to do in the local area and we worked our way through some of the recommendations.

We would definitely recommend a trip to Albi, as we did on a number of occasions; there are plenty of restaurants, something for everyone. A shopping/sightseeing trip to Toulouse is also well worth the drive but take advantage of the park and ride. There is a list of local markets on different days and you should try to visit at least one of them.

We hope to visit again some day.

Beautiful, well equipped house in perfect location

  • 5 of 5

La Jouanade was even better in real life than the pictures on the website. The house was very comfortable, spotlessly clean and had everything you could possibly need. The location was stunning with amazing views across the hills and very peaceful with no close neighbours. Dom and Jo were very helpful and though on site gave us complete privacy. This was the first time that we have had a pool with a salt water filtration system and we were really impressed - much nicer than chlorine. The house itself was well equipped including good broadband and satellite TV. There were plenty of places to visit and great markets but the house and pool were so nice it was hard to tear ourselves away. We have holidayed in France for many years and this is by far the best property we have stayed in.

Facilities

From the Owner

La Jouanade is typical of the area and was originally a granary with some livestock and owned a lot of the surrounding land and woodland. Now it is a pleasantly secluded retreat which offers you a haven from the madding crowd. The property is warm and friendly with a happy feel. It is very well appointed and ideal for a couple seeking a luxury romantic hideaway in a beautiful natural setting. It is ideal for fun, adventures, and enjoying everything this beautiful part of France has to offer. Rustic and rural, it feels like you have travelled back in time to a more simple life - yet with all the mod cons you need. Perfect for nature lovers with walks galore. Fields and woodland all around the house, just perfect for exploring and trying to spot all the different wildlife. The La Jouanade family has grown recently with the adoption of Golly (Goliath) the larger than normal cat! He was rescued from a nearby animal shelter in January 2016 and is certainly enjoying his new home. Although like most cats he spends most of his time asleep. In April 2016 we also saw the addition of 4 hens; Janet, Beyonce, Maggie and Clara (Yes we did name them!). They are completely free range and can be seen pottering about in the garden eating insects etc. Then in November 2016 Millie arrived - a beautiful female black labrador puppy. She absolutely loves to play games with the cat and the chickens, although we are not sure they feel the same way! Unfortunately we dont allow guests to bring their own pets to La Jouanade, but we encourage you to enjoy ours while you are here. Furthermore if you have any animal allergies please contact the owners to discuss before booking.
