Tuscan Villa,Private Pool,Tennis Court,Food experience included,close to Pisa

Overview

Property

Tuscan villa 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom pool and tennis court, close to Pisa

***** Tuscan cooking experience included ******

A beautifully restored spacious Tuscan villa perched on a hilltop, with views over the charming village of Lari, close to Pisa. This lovely four bedroom villa, in the heart of Tuscany, has a secluded rustic swimming pool, a tennis court, a romantic gazebo seating eight with breathtaking panoramic views - where you can watch glorious sunsets with a glass of Prosecco - barbecues, all on large terraced grounds with olive trees, surrounded by a small forest.

A 400-meter gravel road is the approach to the entrance with an electric gate. A Siena-red road lined with Cyprus trees leads to the house sitting on about 2 hectares of landscaped undulating land.

You will love this beautiful historic 130-year-old 2 level Tuscan villa/farmhouse of 250 sq. meters. The ground floor is an open space with original arches and high ceilings: a large living room with antique pieces mixed with contemporary furnishings, a den with a flat screen TV and a fireplace, a dining room seating eight, a large kitchen with top appliances including dishwasher, a walk-in pantry and a stunning bathroom with a marble sink.

Original stone stairs lead upstairs to four bedrooms: a large master bedroom with a queen size bed, a second bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and queen size bed. You have a choice of two single beds or one double in the third bedroom. The fourth bedroom has a double bed and a terrace with a view of the medieval Lari castle. The third bathroom has gorgeous blue hand-made tiles is just outside the bedrooms. The house has satellite TV and WiFi internet in all rooms. The small external laundry room has a high-end washer and dryer.

The patio in front is a great place for evening drinks under the large umbrella and around the corner, the garden, has a large oak-wood table with bench style seating for twelve with a barbecue nearby. Behind the house is a cute pond with space for croquet and badminton (equipment provided) and higher up, on top, the gazebo with breathtaking panoramic views. The uniquely positioned secluded swimming pool is also on top and a rustic pool house nearby with kitchen, fridge, coffee maker and a second barbecue at the edge of a small forest, which is part of the property. Once you are up there, you will just want to stay.

Below the house is the private tennis court. Racquets and balls are provided.

Centrally located in Tuscany, it is close to all amenities, 20 minutes from Pisa airport, 45 minutes from Florence, 30 minutes from Lucca and 40 minutes from the beaches of Forte dei Marmi and Viareggio.

Car hire is recommended for this villa.

****** FOOD AND WINE EXPERIENCE ******

When my friends come to visit, one of the first things they look for, is the local food and wine. I'd like to treat my guests like my friends, and thought a food and wine day might be fun. If you're interested, I will take you to some of the unique places around here - it's included in the rental - all it will cost you is what you buy.

We would leave in the morning to go food shopping in Livorno, about a 45 minute drive. One of the most historical and most beautiful covered markets in Europe is the Livorno Central Market - Mercato Centrale di Livorno. It is located in a large, 18th-century, art nouveau-style building next to the Royal Canal. Fresh fish, meat and poultry, fruit, vegetables and bread - just about everything and anything on a shopping list can be found there. The main pavilion houses 34 shops and 230 stalls presenting a mind-boggling variety of foodstuffs.Buy whatever takes your fancy.

In the afternoon we would visit Fromaggi della Famiglia Busti, the best cheese maker in the region. Their cheeses are astonishing. They also have a terrific restaurant, where we could have lunch. Later, I would take you to visit the famous La Pasta dei Martelli in Lari. Only members of the family work in the pasta factory, keeping up the tradition of making pasta. Finally, I suggest visiting the wine maker Villa Saletta. They have rekindled historic winemaking tradition with Tuscan red wines and Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Sangiovese.

Back at the house late afternoon, we would start preparing dinner. Maybe I can even get one of the nonnas from Lari to come and show us how to prepare some of her special home-made dishes. Basically, I want the whole day to be fun and enjoyable to give you, my guests, a different Tuscan experience.

About the Owner

I used to be in the movie business in Hollywood and finally decided I had to get away to somewhere peaceful, quiet and beautiful, so I moved to Tuscany in 2006. I bought the house in 1983 and had it completely renovated when I arrived. I wanted to have a place I never had to leave. For me, it is paradise - I had quite a few famous house guests, who shared this opinion.

Andrew, is the perfect host. His home is wonderful, spacious, and relaxing. It's far enough away where it feels like no one is around but, then only 8mins to the closest store. Andrew gave us a list of things to do in the area and with in the major cities. The recommendations never lets us down! They were delicious and worth the visit. Also the villa is next to the quintessential italian village, a great place to walk through, have some wine, gelato, and stop by the butchers for some prosciutto. I would definitely stay again when I am in the area.

Character in heart of Tuscany

  • 5 of 5

We returned recently from a fantastic stay at the Villa Andrew! The property is like no other, it has been lovingly decorated, contains many beautiful works of art as well as extensive gardens, hills, a tennis court, and even a secluded pool! Located in the scenic village of Lari, right in the heart of Tuscany, it is the perfect spot to relax, with options to explore cities such as Florence, Pisa and more, right on your doorstep. I fully recommend a stay at the villa, you will have a wonderful time!

Explore Tuscany in style...

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely week at this beautifully situated Tuscan property. The house is surrounded by extensive gardens which are fun to explore with family. The private tennis court and pool are excellent.

Inside, there are numerous appliances for convenience and the furnishings are to a high standard.

The location is perfect for exploring Tuscany, both its rural heartland and also some pleasant coastal towns. Lari itself is very pleasant and we would recommend a trip to the pasta factory and impressive fort. The homemade gelateria place is excellent.

Andrew recommended many places of interest that we visited, including some good restaurants. He was on hand to provide assistance if we needed it.

We would certainly recommend the property. If you're looking to get away from it all and explore Tuscany, this is a great option.

Away from it all Tuscan Idyll

  • 5 of 5

We are a family four from the UK including two children (17 and 20) who stayed in the Villa for the last two weeks of August. The setting of the Villa is magnificent based on a large site in the Tuscan countryside with views across the valley to the historic village of Lari. We had a wonderful holiday at the Villa combining relaxation time and also sight seeing days out to Pisa, Sienna, Florence and Vinci. We particularly enjoyed playing tennis and then cooling off in the pool. The Villa had everything we needed and we were helped by the local caretakers Peter and Alexandria who met us initially in Lari to guide us to the Villa, showed us where the Supermarket was and were able to assist with any query we had. The Villa was remote enough to really get away from things but close enough to easily get to Restaurants and days out and use the information and recommendations that Andrew had kindly sent in advance. A great holiday in a truly great location !

We were a family of 7 ranging from 7yrs old to grandparents and Mr Gatis Villa had something for everyone. The house was immaculate and so beautifully furnished. We felt at home the moment we set foot inside the door. The surrounding area was so tranquil and just simply beautiful. It is perfectly situated close enough to neighbouring villages yet far enough away to be away from it all. He has thought of everything and provided it too ensuring our stay was all we wanted. Peter and Alexandra couldn't have been more helpful and kind . Such lovely people. Definitely woud love to book here again only next time we would stay longer! Thank you so much . A gem of a place. Can't stop telling all my friends about it. (The Wynroe family, cork Ireland)

A lovely retreat away from it all

  • 5 of 5

A really beautiful villa with everything you could need inside and out. Very clean and well maintained. Some very thoughtful additions with shampoo and body wash and hand wash in all the bathrooms. We played tennis everyday, it was a little cool for swimming although I imagine in the heat of the summer it will be a welcome cool off. We really felt very much at home and had a great time. Ideal location to visit many local places of interest and nice and close to the airport. Wish that we could have stayed longer. Hopefully we will be able to revisit for longer in the near future. Thankyou Andrew for all the local information and help prior to our departure.
