18th century Presbytery , Maison classée 4 étoiles , near Royan . Spacious and light , Ideal for 2 families or for several friends holidaying together at the seaside . Comfortably accomodates 10 people in 5 en-suite bedrooms with air-conditioning in 3. The swimming pool has just been built and the garden renovated. For the safety of kids it has been equipped with an automatic PVC roller blind . Several terraces are now available in the garden ,for your comfort ,with deckchairs , dining tables a sofa and armchairs . The Atlantic coast's sandy beaches are only five minutes stroll away. At Meschers , everything is within walking distance , so you don't need to drive , lovely Plage des Nonnes is 5mns bicycle and 10 mns walk , with its restaurants which serve lovely food , 2 mns walk to the port where there are more eateries and cream parlours , 1 mn walk to the fresh produce market and 2 mns walk into the High Street where you can buy fresh croissants for your breakfast . The Roman town Saintes and Royan are nearby and islands just off shore . The area offers great cycling in the nearby beautiful tracks along the Estuary or to the Beach , water sports , forest walks , vineyards and lots more . Tennis , horse-riding , golf , sailing, boat hire are all availble locally . All fully equipped , beautifully decorated with antique furniture . For kids there is the best zoo in France

( La Palmyre ) , an excellent Aquarium at La Rochelle and an indoor aqua park in Jonzac .

This house has been in our family for a long time and with my two children and four grandchildren we love spending time at Meschers which is a charming village by the sea where everything is accessible on foot : the beach , fresh produce market , shops , bars , restaurants supermarket and pleasure port . It is a great base for exploring the area if you want to travel further : there are many places of interest to visit , not far , like : Cognac - Ile de Ré - Ile d'Oléron or La Palmyre zoo which is a must - and several beautiful other places along the coast .

It is also a lovely part of the world to wander - cave dwellings in the cliff face, walk to a local restaurant or just sit and have a drink .

Easy access by road ( A16 motorway is 30 mns away ) Bordeaux La Rochelle airport

What makes this house unique

The climate in this area is very good , sunny and mild - nearly as good as the Med but not that blistering heat and without the long drive .

You can enjoy the beach when you want and experience the French way of life at a slow pace . It is great for lazing about and reading , but also sailing , jet skis etc . available to hire either at Meschers or at nearby St Georges de Didonne .

A stoned staircase leads you directly up to the garden ,the two separate air-conditioned Bedrooms (4 and 5 ) , the Covered Terrace Dining Area ( with its large wooden garden - table ) and the Utility Room ( with its Large Shower ideal for the kids when back from the Beach ) . Opposite and separated by the beautiful completely private Garden , the main House with ,on the ground floor , a big fitted and equipped Kitchen of 30 m2 and its pantry , a Dining- Room with fireplace , a Living -room of 45 m2 with fireplace : all of them opening directly on to a terrace and the high-walled garden . On the first floor : air- conditioned Master-Suite of 45 m2 with its dressing and 2 Bedrooms with Shower-rooms en-suite and a separate WC on the landing : all of them having nice views over the rooftops and the pleasure port . Outside: Charming private Garden with a gas Barbecue and wooden Deckchairs . Large Covered Terrace Dining area with a large wooden garden -table (comfortable for 10 people ) . A beautiful house, close to all amenities.

The Presbytery in Meschers is a beautiful house with lovely enclosed gardens. We stayed as a family of ten, and there as plenty of space for all within the house and gardens. The house is well organised, with a cooker large enough to cater for such numbers and significant freezer and fridge space. The town was charming, with a supermarket 5 minutes away by foot, the port with restaurants and swimming beaches all close by. The home owner is incredibly helpful and responds quickly to any queries regarding the house, both in advance and during our stay. Air conditioning in three of the bedrooms helped as the weather was very hot indeed. It is a beautiful house ina charming area of France, and we would be hapy to stay there again in the future.

Fabulous house in a lovely French town

There were eight adults staying in this house for a week. We all thought it was a beautiful house with everything provided that you could possibly need - from the well stocked kitchen and pantry to stuff for the beach, particularly for children. The house is well placed for the local market, ie right next door, which is on every morning and which we used every day for fresh produce, such as meat, fish, fruit and vegetables - all excellent. There is a gas BBQ in the garden and a lovely big table situated in a veranda outside which seated the eight of us easily. As the weather was so good during our stay we ate all our meals outside and therefore didn't use the lovely dining room and lounge in the house itself.

The property is well situated in the middle of Meschers but is totally private because of the high walls right round the garden.

There are lots of places to visit nearby, Talmont, St Georges de Didonne, and Royan to name but a few.

The owner, Marie-Helene was extremely helpful and welcoming, and was genuinely concerned that we all had a good holiday in her family home. Hopefully we will return one day to this beautiful house.

The property is stunning. Marie Helena is welcoming and helpful in every way. The property is beautifully furnished but also very well equipped. Three fridges for all those cold drinks!. Everything was clean and well maintained. Electricity allowance was generous for us and we used the dishwasher and washing machine every day. Le foret is a fantastic restaurant for a special occasion very large portions

Wonderful house and garden.

Eight of us had a great holiday in this lovely house in early July 2015. Our party consisted of 2 grandparents, 3 adults, and 3 children and the house and garden was ideal for us all. The house is spacious and stylish, extremely clean and well maintained. As you will see from the description, there are 3 bedrooms and bathrooms in the main house, and - across the garden - a separate building with 2 further bedrooms and bathrooms. This arrangement worked very well for us. One of the features which we enjoyed most was the large covered terrace, open on one side, which had a long dining table and chairs and where we ate all our meals including breakfast. The terrace provided shade for reading during the day, and the garden had easy chairs for sitting in the sun. Because the weather was wonderful we did not stay indoors very much, and so we did not make use of the dining room and sitting room - but both rooms are very attractive. We found the owners to be charming and helpful, and it is obvious from the quality of the furnishings and equipment that this is a well-loved house. We liked the easy access on foot to the village with its bakeries, cafe and restaurant, while at the same time the high walls around the garden gave us a nice sense of seclusion. We have no hesitation in recommending the house - you will love it! We hope to be back!
