Old cottage tastefully decorated & furnished to a high standard. Village location within easy access of local amenities and historic towns and villages in the surrounding area. Excellent restaurant in the village within a 2 minute walk across the green. The property has a good sized comfy lounge, narrow stairs leading up to the bedroom, the bedroom has ample fitted cupboards, and the en-suite has a shower over the bath, both rooms are a good size. The kitchen is well equipped with items needed, has a small seating area. To the rear of the property is a small court yard with table and chairs. Very comfortable

This is a lovely little terraced house in a beautiful village. The furniture was of good quality. The sitting room was comfortable and the kitchen was very well appointed with everything one could require. There is plenty of hanging and shelf space in the bedroom. The bathroom is a decent size and has a bath and an in-bath shower. The only drawback is a very narrow and steep spiral staircase. I was fine with it but if anyone has a mobility problem they would have great difficulty getting upstairs and I have 1 friend who would not have managed the stairs and it would probably be a good idea to underline this fact. It is not possible to carry a suitcase upstairs in a normal way. You either have to push it ahead of you or drag it behind you.

Ellerker itself is a beautiful village. It is extremely well kept. The residents obviously take great pride in where they live.

The owner lives nearby and is very friendly and helpful. I would definitely go back

Lovely cottage in a small village

My husband and I loved this cottage set in a small and quiet village. It has a lovely feel to it, was bright and very clean and had just enough quirkiness to satisfy me. The furniture was comfortable and the kitchen well-equipped. We drank our morning coffee in a smallish door-yard that just captured the morning sun. Parking was no issue. The owner has thoughtfully supplied touring information and we made day trips to York, Whitby and Lincoln. The cottage is well situated for hiking and we did two, hiking the coastal path between Robin Hood Bay and a pub that, sadly, I can't remember the name of. We also hiked the trail from the the beautiful town of Helmsley to the even more beautiful ruins of 11th century Rievaulx Abbey. The owner was friendly, available but unobtrusive. We recommend this cottage highly.

Lovely relaxing spot

The Hobbet Hole cottage is in a small community and opposite a farm so it's very quiet and relaxing.

TomTom used Howden Croft Hill and the cottage is just around the corner on the right.

We met Nicola a couple of times and she was friendly and genuinely interested in us, our stay, and our comfort.

It is mentioned in the description but worth emphasising that the stairs to the bedroom and bathroom as very steep, confined and twist through 180 degrees. Going-up is not so bad but coming down is more difficult. The addition of carpet on the treads means that it is easy to slip.

The kitchen is well appointed, including a dishwasher and there is a small courtyard off the kitchen for a couple to sit and enjoy.

Usable phone signals on both Vodafone and EE and the WiFi works well.

Overall this is a nice place to stay for a few days or so and would not hesitate to book again.

Lovely quiet location with easy access to motor way and surrounding cities. Great location if you like walking, Wolds away! Cycling, transpenine way! Not far from the market towns of South Cave, Market Weighton & Beverley, York is a 35 minute drive away, buses go to all locations from South Cave plus twice a week from outside the cottage.

Coast/Beach:

Hornsea is the closest beach to this location and is about 20 miles away.

Travel:

Closest airport Humberside Airport, Brough train station is 2.5 miles away and the property is within easy access of the A63

Distances:

South Cave is 1.5 miles away and has a number of shops, restaurants & pubs. The closest city is Hull and Beverley market town is 12 miles away. York is a 45 minute drive but a bus is available from South Cave.

Charming cottage just great to chill out in, fantastic in the winter as it is cosy with the wood burning stove on, plus cool in the summer thanks to the thick stone cottage walls.
