About the property

House in Buxton, Derbyshire, England - Town Centre, with all amenities within a few minutes walk of the house

The house is located just off the High Street and close to the Market Place in Upper Buxton. You don't need a car as it is an ideal spot to enjoy the local delights of Buxton including the Opera House, Pavilion Gardens, the Devonshire Dome and Go Ape. It is 10 minute walk to the Buxton Train Station where you can catch an hourly service to Manchester Piccadilly Station. You can use the local bus service that goes from the Market Place to explore surrounding towns and attraction including Ashbourne, Bakewell and Chatsworth. A county public transport map is available. In the house there is a well stocked, hand made wood country style kitchen with marble work tops, original York stone floor and farmhouse dining table and 6 chairs. (2 spare in the pantry and a higher chair for toddlers) Just off the kitchen is a separate utility with washing machine and dishwasher. The house has 4 bedrooms over 2 floors, three double (one with bunkbeds) and one single. There are two bathrooms and two WC's. The house like many in Buxton only has a small rear yard but the lovely pavilions gardens is a less than 2 minute walk away. At the park children can use the playground or ride the Parks miniature train and there is plenty of space for your picnic blankets or a hot drink at the Pavilion Gardens Cafe. Residents have use of free Broadband with Wi-Fi. There is a TV with an in built DVD player in Bedroom 2 and TV, with free view and separate DVD in the lounge. There is no allocated parking space at the house but there is plenty of street parking opposite the house and in surrounding streets.

This is our first holiday home in Buxton. We have visited many self-catering properties in the UK and abroad and we have tried to combine what makes for a cosy house with all the practical things you need to make your stay easy. We have set a standard price for all year round which reflects good value for families as I hate to see prices go through the roof on school holidays. Those without children you get the flexibility of your own house at a price comparable to local bed and breakfasts.

The house is great for sharing with friends or families. We have tried to include everything you need so you can focus on an enjoyable break.

Enjoyable stay here for a long weekend for a family wedding. Comfortable, clean and well equipped house within walking distance of the town and gardens. Double yellow line outside so problem parking to unpack/pack car but plenty of parking nearby at other times. Would recommend.

Beautiful character house

The house itself was perfect, clean, tidy and full of period charm. It was perfectly central so was in walking distance to local amenities and close in particular to the wedding we were attending that weekend. The only downside was parking and outside noise, especially on a saturday night though to be expected as so close to the center. We would recommend the property to our friends and family.

Loved the character of the cottage!

Hi Alison

Regarding the radiator in the attic room, the radiator valve was already broken when we arrived. Also the door knob to the bunk bedroom was broken when we arrived. We had a couple of lightbub failures but replaced them using the lightbulbs in the kitchen cupboard. Hope that was OK. I hope that helps, any other queries please email.

As for our stay, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Everything about the cottage (facilities, location, general character) suited us. Thank you!

Notes on accommodation: Free Broad band and Wi-Fi is available for guests. There is a stair gate available if needed and other childrens items. The property is no smoking. Outside: There a small stone flagged back yard. There is room for a BBQ and a Weber Kettle BBQ is available to use but it’s not big enough for half a dozen sun beds! Don’t panic though as you have the wonderful pavilion gardens on your doorstep where there is plenty of space to spread out with your picnic and your food could be plucked from the BBQ and walked round and still be hot. There is a shed which can be used to store bikes. There is no parking at teh property itself but there is plenty of street parking both opposite the house and on surrounding streets. Utility Room: Please note dishwasher, microwave and washing machine are in the utility Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and bed Linen are provided including tea towels. Linen changes and cleaning is weekly unless agreed separately. Towels are not to be used for activities out of the property please. A cleaning pack is provided for your use.
