About the property

Superb location, beautiful large garden, glorious sea views, shops/pub/restaurants in walking distance

A light and spacious detached seaside home of great character, with wonderful sea views from nearly every room! Surrounded by a large secluded garden with a sunny terrace overlooking the garden and beach, this recently extended and updated home is the perfect Cornish gem. There is plenty of off-street parking on the private driveway (2 cars) and in the new parking bay at the top of the drive (a further 2 cars).

The house is very quietly situated in a cul de sac of just 8 privately owned properties, off a private road.

NEW FOR 2018: hire an 8 person hot tub. Set up for your arrival on a grassy terrace overlooking the sea. £225 per week.

Other impovements we’ve made:

* New high ceiling entrance hall, beautiful new staircase in light and airy corridor, amazing sea views from all bedrooms and new ensuite shower room

* Heated outdoor shower and wetsuit drying rack

* Lovely upright piano with music to suit all abilities

All the roads around Blue Seas have now been resurfaced - no more potholes.

What the press says:

"There are better-known and busier beaches in Cornwall, but few can match the raw beauty of Mawgan Porth. Shielded on both sides by cliffs, it has acres of soft white sand, rock pools, caves and magical sunsets." - The Sunday Times

About Catherine

Blue Seas was purchased by 2 families in July 2014 who have been coming on holiday to Mawgan Porth for many years. Between us we have 5 children and 2 dogs and love all the activities that are available nearby.

(The photo is me enjoying the Flowrider surf simulator at nearby Retallack!)

Catherine purchased this house in 2014

Why Catherine chose Mawgan Porth

We love the peaceful cul de sac location and the delightful walk to the beach from the gate at the end of the garden. We also love to use the restaurants and spa facilities at the 2 nearby hotels and our caretaker is a wonderful chef who can prepare meals for you as required. Last summer he did the most amazing seafood BBQ for us - with freshly caught local lobster.

Both families who own the property live 200 miles away so being able fly from Gatwick to Newquay is a great advantage. If you book early it only costs £50/head.

One of the best things about staying at Blue Seas (apart from the view) is the peace and quiet, interrupted only by the sound of the roaring sea, the trickling stream going through the garden and the sound of birds singing!

What makes this house unique

A very special house in an unsurpassed location. Surrounded by glorious gardens on all sides, with its own stream and pond, tucked away in a small private cul de sac. Just 3 mins walk along the stream to the glorious sandy expanse of Mawgan Porth beach and 10 mins walk to local shops and restaurants in the village. But don't taken our word for it - read our guests' reviews to see what previous guests thought. We have many repeat visitors, booking year after year. Record so far: 4 visits!

We completed major improvements to our lovely beach house in May 2016:

* an extension to the front creating light, airy entrance hall with separate loo and utility room off (washing machine & tumble dryer)

* beautiful bespoke oak and glass staircase set in spacious new corridor

* 2 ensuites upstairs

* new sea view windows to all upstairs bedrooms

* heated outdoor shower

* new wooden flooring upstairs

Guestbook comments from the owner

A great place to relax and chill. The views were amazing and even at the end of October it was warm enough to sit outside and enjoy the views. The place was immaculate, spacious and in a great location. Definitely would like to return next year! Carly (28/10-1/11/16)

Excellent family holiday

  • 5 of 5

Lovely position. Ideal for a family holiday. We were a party of seven adults and two children and the layout of the property lent itself to providing enough separate space for everyone to do their thing. Great to have such a lovely garden and a huge beach in such close walking distance. Even in winter there were pools and 'caves' to explore, ideal for the three year old who also enjoyed the lovely garden, with plenty of space to run around and kick a ball. It was handy having the little cluster of shops in walking distance on the other side of the bay, with a well stocked general store. Although we did venture out on trips to other local places, we were more than happy to spend much of our time in and close to the house, because it was such a pleasant place to be, even in the snow.

Stunning property and location

  • 5 of 5

A lovely homely property, very comfortable and a really well equipped kitchen ideal for some proper home cooking. And also lovely to be able to sit around a proper dining table in comfort. Views were stunning and bedrooms and bathrooms were all excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to come back.

Stunning property in fantastic location

  • 5 of 5

A truly unique property with plenty of space (party of 7 adults, 2 children & 2 dogs)

Waking up every morning to a view of the bay was wonderful. The house is so well equipped that we didn't want for anything. The garden was very private with a large patio and plenty of outdoor seating.

Shops & restaurants are within easy access, a 5-10 minute stroll away via the cliffpath or road.

We hope to visit again soon!

Peace and tranquility, birds and flowers everywhere yet only a five minute walk to the shops and even less to the beach!
