Comfortable family home with all mod cons and interesting and charming features. Situated in a quiet location yet seconds from the buzz and facilities of one of France's most beautiful villages. Our kitchen is well equipped for you to experiment with some Provençal cooking or you can BBQ on the sun terrace, using herbs from our pots. The first floor comprises kitchen, dining room, reading room (with mezzanine bed platform (bed 200cmx125) should extra sleeping accommodation be required), full bathroom and rear bedroom.Please note the rear bedroom has no view though is well ventillated via a window. This bedroom is the coolest in summer ! On the second level is situated the pretty lounge which leads on to the terrace. On the third floor there are two bedrooms and a bathroom with large shower. Guests are respectfully invited not to smoke within the confines of the house but may feel free to do so on the terrace.

Perfect house in the heart of the southern Luberon
My husband and I have rented houses in various parts of France for the past 16 years in August. This particular area, the Southern Luberon, is our favorite. Jim and Linda's "Maison de Village" provided the best experience up until now, and we have been very pleased with every house we've rented. The house is spacious (could easily accomodate 2 couples or people with children), has all the amenities, beautifully decorated. It lacked nothing. Being in the heart of Lourmarin was so convenient and pleasureful. The village is both quiet and lively-- art galleries, great restaurants, shops, markets. And the owners are a pleasure to deal with. Very accessible by email and warm, kind folks. I feel like I've gotten to know them without every having spoken directly. We loved the house and our stay so much that, for the first time, we decided to rent the house again next summer. You can't go wrong with this rental.

Excellent stay in Lourmarin
My Husband, I and my parents hired the house for a week in May.The house was very clean and bright and had everything you could wish for. Brilliant location, we really enjoyed being able to walk to the restaurants in the evening for dinner and little glass of wine. The local people made us feel really welcome. Great all round will be back and the weather was outstanding.
I spent many hours earlier this year searching the internet for the perfect holiday house for our extended family with ages ranging from 21 to 83. Our criteria being a town house in a pretty village with direct access to restaurants and shops. After much research I found the perfect house in what looked like an idyllic village, Loumarin. I contacted Jim & Linda who understandably thought the house would be unsuitable for my 83 year old father due to the stairs and accommodation arranged over three levels. However, despite his years, my father is very able and after numerous witty e-mails back and forth with Jim and Linda we went ahead and booked. Thank goodness we did, we had the most wonderful holiday in a lovely home. The house was as expected beautifully furnished, well equipped and in a perfect location tucked away in a side street and yet minutes from the shops, patisserie and restaurants. The village is so pretty with a fantastic weekly market and the locals were extremely friendly and accommodating. Virginie, who was our contact in Loumarin, was a star. We had to contact a doctor whilst we were there and despite the language barrier, she was extremely helpful.
The surrounding hilltop villages and countryside are well worth a visit, Gordes in particular (get there early if you are going on market day). However, we decided we did extremely well to have chosen the prettiest village by far in the area and we spent most of our time sitting in the cafes watching the world go by and enjoying evening strolls exploring the side streets after a delicious and relaxing meal in one of the many local restaurants. We would highly recommend Jim & Linda's charming house and are very much looking forward to a return trip although we would like to keep Loumarin our little secret!!
Beyond our Highest Hopes
We spend a week at this lovely spot in Lourmarin. What a treat. The accommodations were perfect for the 3 of us as single adults, and yet I plan to return with my whole family in the future. The O'Neills have equipped this property with everything one needs, including scads of information on the surrounding area, the town itself, and special activities. We loved going to nearby markets, returning to the patio for lunch, and often opted to cook our evening meals and then meander through the village to local cafes for a nightcap. Although we spent another week further east in another rental we found Lourmarin and our accommodations at the O'Neills' far superior, more user friendly, and so easily accessible to everything in the little town and all sorts of daily excursions. The property was extremely clean, and easy to keep clean; the neighbors were friendly and quiet, the shopkeepers were particularly nice and willing to answer any questions we might have and the Friday market was the very best!!!!! As a matter of fact we returned to it a week later, despite a 2 hour drive. We loved our the other local markets, the day we spent in Rouisillon, going to the Caleches in Cassis, and the well stocked U. Initially we were a little daunted by not being to park right in front of the property - however, we very quickly found that we could park extremely close and found it a treat to walk to and from the car through the little alleys. We absolutely loved taking mystery rides through the lavender and vineyards, checking out other little villages, and just walking around the corner for a beer or class of wine in the cafes. This property comes with my very highest recommendation. I certainly plan to return as soon as I can and am very willing to speak with anyone who might have questions.
our best decision
Having now explored many of the beautiful villages in the Luberon area, Lourmarin would definitely still be my choice of where to stay and base myself. Jim & Linda's 4 bedroom home is in a quiet little street right in the heart of the village. Beautifully presented on 3 levels with a private terrace on which to enjoy the remains of the day. It was well equipped with all you need and personal touches made it a delightful home rather than just a place to stay. To be able to wander the quiet little streets at night after a fabulous meal at one of the many restaurants and never be far from the front door of home was bliss. We were grateful every day that we chose to stay in the heart of the village and could just open the front door or look out the window to be part of the village life. Jim & Linda were fantastic to liaise with. Quick to respond, informative, helpful and trusting that we would love and care for their home as much as they do. The organisational part of booking, getting keys on the day etc was very easy. We just loved Lourmarin. Our choice of home for 9 nights ? - the best decision we've ever made! Thanks again Jim & Linda

Activity and Interests
Some of the Mediterranean coastal resorts can be reached in 1h - 1.5h by car. Two of our favourites would be Cassis and Sanary-sur-Mer.
For local swimming in the months of July and August the outdoor pool at the village camp-site, within walking distance, is open to the public. The small lake "le plan d'eau" outside Cadenet and only 10 minutes away by car from Lourmarin has a supervised "beach" and snack facility. There is another nice swimming lake "l'Etang de la Bonde" 15 minutes away.
The nearest airport is Marignane - situated just outside Marseille and less than one hour's drive from Lourmarin.
Nimes airport - 1.25h by car.
Nice airport - 2.5h by car.
Train travel - the TGV stations of Aix-en Provence and Avignon are also within a one hour drive.
Car hire to reach the village and to tour the area is recommended.
The house is situated right in the heart of one of the most picturesque and popular Provencal villages.
Other famous hilltop villages of the Luberon e.g. Gordes, Bonnieux, Lacoste, Roussillon, Menerbes are all within a compass of 30 minutes by car.
Aix-en-Provence - 40 minutes by car.
Avignon, Marseille, Arles - 1 hour by car.
Nimes, the Camargue - c1.5 hours by car
Nice and the Italian border - 2.5 hours by car.
Although a village in size, Lourmarin is very cosmopolitan. There are several cafes and many restaurants in the village. There are two general stores and a popular bakery. A good supermarket is situated 5 minutes away by car. The Friday market is one of the best in the area and definitely worth a visit. There is a post office and a bank cash dispensing machine in the village. There are many boutiques and art galleries. The beautiful Chateau of Lourmarin is open to the public. There are 2 churches, one Catholic and one Protestant. Lourmarin and all the neighbouring villages have children's play parks. Other facilities within the village include tennis courts, volleyball courts, mini golf, good walking and cycle routes. Horse riding is available in the immediate area. There are many small wine chateaux which can be visited in the immediate surrounding countryside. Good quality local wines can be bought in the village and in the cave under the Chateau.
We can arrange reasonably priced "in house"french language lessons for children or young and more senior adults !

A damages deposit of 200 euros is requested. This damages deposit will be reimbursed ,normally by PayPal, following proprietors receiving clear post departure report from their manager.
Bookings are from from Saturday to Saturday. Our team deserves Sunday off!
To permit thorough cleaning of the house access is from 5.00pm and departure requested by 10.00am.
Flexibility on day and time may be possible by prior arrangement.

A returnable deposit against breakages/damage of 200 euros is requested and will be returned promptly following a departure inspection.

- Notes on accommodation: The house is on 3 levels. There is an entrance hall on street level where outdoor shoes and jackets can be stored. Stairs then lead up to the 3 living areas of the house. The staircases on each level all have a hand rail. Outside: There is a private, pretty, pot planted terrace equipped with table and chairs for outside eating. There is also a charcoal fired BBQ unit. As for car parking, when we are resident we use one of the several free car parking areas minutes only from the apartment. Utility Room: Washing m/c, tumble dryer located in downstairs bathroom. The house is equipped with ironing facilities and hair dryer. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included in the price. The property is cleaned at the end of each rental. If you wish to freshen up towels or bed linen or do personal clothes washing there is a washing machine and tumble dryer situated in the first floor bathroom. Other: The pretty little reading room is off and curtained from the dining area. The reading room accesses the cute mezzanine sleeping area which could prove useful for an overnight guest.
