About the Owner

Originally from Zimbabwe(Brian) and the north of England(Joan) we are now committed francophiles, only too delighted to share our knowledge of the area with our visitors. We share our time between managing the property and its gardens, and walking the surrounding forest paths with our dog Simba.

A wonderful woodland hideaway...batteries recharged...Thank you! Clive and Sue Aug 2014

A fantastic tranquil hideaway set within easy reach of many of the attractions the region has to offer. The open plan living area on the first floor remains cool on hot days and leads on to the large treetop balcony where you can enjoy dinner after a day spent lazing by the pool or exploring the region... we can give no higher recommendation than to say that we have already booked again for next year! Relaxing Hideaway

  • 5 of 5

I never imagined I would want to write a review but there is something alluring about this hideaway that unlocks leisure time you thought you might never find again. We had wonderful days out at La Couvertroirade (Knights Templar village, wonderful, historic), St Guilhem-le-desert (great day out, wonderful old village), Canoe trips, Carcassonne (breathtaking if touristic), Cirque de Navacelles (speechless - a must-do), Montpellier, plus dining out, shopping etc.

We had a wonderful stay; thank you Brian and Joan for making us so comfortable.

The magic house!

  • 5 of 5

We spent the month of August in La Primelle and could not have been happier. The house is wonderful, practical, and has everything one needs to spend comfortable holidays. Owners Joan and Brian - and their son Simon - were always immediately available when we needed them, and they were the nicest people. The house is secluded and quiet, the rooms are spacious and nicely furnished, and the terrace on the first floor under the roof is fantastic - it is indeed like sitting in a treehouse, and we spend lovely evenings there after a day by the pool! We will be back!

Thank you for a wonderful time.

Un séjour fantastique

  • 5 of 5

  • 5 of 5

La Primelle is a fantastic tranquil hideaway set within easy reach of many of the attractions the region has to offer. The open plan living area on the first floor with its numerous windows remains cool on hot days and leads on to the large treetop balcony where you can enjoy dinner after a day spent lazing by the pool or exploring the region. Outside the villa there is plenty of space and is accommodating to both sun worshipers and those that prefer the shade. Brian and Joan were friendly and helpful without being intrusive and were able to provide local recommendations. We had a wonderful holiday full of breathtaking scenery, lovely towns and a nearby lake for the dog and we can give no higher recommendation than to say that we have already booked again for next year!

Fabulous relaxing time

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful property in stunning part of the world. We cycling and walked and read in blissful peace for 9 days. If you like cooking there is a really well equiped kitchen - and the balcony in the evening is superb.

Lovely relaxed unobtrusive hosts who are there is you need them. Would love to come pack again.

Fantastic holiday

  • 5 of 5

We said we'd be back! This time we rented the larger house we'd seen through the trees, and brought the grandparents along too. It really is a very special place, so peaceful, and yet the kids seem to have lots of fun. The house is magic, believe me, very well furnished and equiped. There was plenty of room for all of us. The large shower in the cottage bedroom was great for my dad who isn't so mobile, and the extra little kitchen was quite handy for them too. The living room upstairs was a bit of a problem for him with the stairs, but he managed. It really is special being up amongst the tree tops, with that wonderful view from the terrace. I still remember swimming at night. The lights in the pool were great. Thanks again.
