Apartment in La Cala de Mijas, Mijas Costa, Costa del Sol, Spain - Just 10 Minutes Walk From The Lovely Village Of La Cala With Good Restaurants And A Blue Flag Beach

Whatever your requirements for a family holiday, you can be sure to find it on the Costa del Sol. With it's wonderful Mediterranean climate boasting over 300 days of sunshine per year, it's THE ideal holiday destination for families, golfers, and sun lovers alike. You can even ski in the winter in the Sierra Nevada near Granada! Miles of sandy beaches, water sports, golf courses aplenty, lively resorts like Benalmadena and Fuengirola, and the chic, cosmopolitan Marbella and Puerto Banus, provide something for everyone. What about a cable car ride to the top the Rock of Gibraltar to visit the Barbary Apes, a visit to the Picasso Museum in Malaga, or a stroll round the lovely medieval town of Ronda? Shop till you drop in the designer boutiques of Marbella (don't forget your credit card!), or do some celebrity spotting at Puerto Banus. In the evenings, there are an abundance of restaurants serving wonderfully fresh seafood, as well as paella and traditional Andalucian dishes. Night-life is plentiful in Benalmadena and Fuengirola, with many clubs and bars where you can dance till the sun comes up. If golf is your thing, it doesn't get much better than this. The apartment is just 5 minutes walk from the 1st tee at the La Noria Resort, and less than 10 minutes drive from La Cala Resort, Spain's biggest golf resort with 3 18-hole courses and a David Leadbetter academy, 5 minutes drive from El Chaparral, and 15 minutes from Mijas Golf with 2 18 hole courses. There are around 50 courses all told, and all are within an hour's drive.

I'm a software engineer (serves me right I hear you say!) approaching retirement age, and looking forward to spending a lot more time in La Cala in the future.

Originally from Scotland (despite the Spanish name) we've been in Cambridgeshire for the last 37 years and have now come to recognise it as home. When the kids were growing up, we always used to have self-catering holidays as we just didn't like being organised as far as meal times etc were concerned. So as holiday property owners, we try very hard to make the renting experience as simple as possible. We take all comments, positive or negative seriously, and strive to provide a memorable holiday experience for all our guests.

Originally bought as an investment property, we have come to really enjoy our stays in La Cala and try to get there at least twice a year.

We love the simplicity of the place, nice bars and restaurants, not too crowded, and where service still counts. The beach is ideal and the beach bar is perfect for lunch. With just a 25 minute drive from Malaga airport, you can start your holiday relaxed and refreshed.

What makes this apartment unique

Just a short flat walk into the village to the shops, bars and restaurants, and in a nice quiet location. The pool always seems to be empty

We have booked for May 2015 and this will be our 3rd visit to this wonderful apartment.

It feels like a home from home with all the facilities you need while enjoying a sunshine break.

The area the apartment is located in is very quiet but only a 10 minute walk in to the hustle and bustle of the town.

The Bio Park in Fuengirola is a must see with only a 12 Euro taxi ride from the town.

Once again I cannot rate this apartment highly enough.

We have stayed in this apartment twice and have booked to return again in 2014.

It is large with a fantastic terrace with steps down to its own private garden. The terrace receives sun all day. The apartment is well equipped and has everything that we need.

We have 2 boys. aged 7 and 3 and they love coming here. they can play in the garden and the paddle tennis courts are a few steps from the terrace, meaning they can go and play and we can still watch them. The complex pool is very clean and often we have had the pool to ourselves - lovely in the middle of August. There are no loungers by the pool but as the terrace receives so much sun we have never felt the need to sunbathe at the pool.

Los Prados del Golf is a 10-15 minute walk into La Cala. It is a flat walk and is well lit at night. We have been on holiday to La Cala 6 times now and love the laid back atmosphere, beach bars and easy access to the rest of the Costa del Sol.

The whole family enjoyed our stay at Los Prados del Golf. The apartment was like a home from home. Very clean and had everything we needed.

The children loved the pool and it was also nice and quiet.

I would definitely recommend renting this apartment if you are thinking of visiting La Cala de Mijas. It is a fantastic resort and place to visit.

We will definitely be visiting again.

Outside: The terrace benefits from a table and 4 chairs for outside dining, 2 arm chairs and a 2-seater sofa, and a chest with children's beach and pool toys. There are also 2 sun loungers available. The private garden has a grassed area and is planted with a variety of flowering and non-flowering shrubs. Utility Room: The separate utility area has a washer/dryer and portable clothes airer. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All towels and bed linen are supplied, and beach towels are available for a small extra charge. The property is not usually cleaned for 1-week rentals but this can be arranged with our local manager for a small additional charge. Other: A travel cot and high chair are available for younger guests, and a folding bed is available if required to accommodate a 5th guest.

The blue flag beach at La Cala is just a 10 flat minute walk from the apartment. A variety of water sports are available, or you may just wish to sit in one the beach- bar/restaurants for a leisurely lunch or a well-earned drink after a hard day's sunbathing!

The 5km long beach at Fuengirola is just 8km and can be reached by public transport. Marbella has a number of beaches, the most famous being the Nikki where you just might spot a celebrity or two.


The nearest airport is Malaga which is approximately 33km from the apartment. We recommend car hire to make the most of everything the Costa del Sol has to offer, but our local manager can arrange transfers to and from the airport if required.

La Cala has a large open air market on Wednesdays and Saturdays and the market place is just 5 minutes walk from the apartment.

In the village, there are 2 supermarkets (Supersol and Mercadona), several banks with ATM facilities, and a number of good restaurants where a variety of cuisine is on offer including Thai, Italian, Indian and Chinese. The Chiringuita del Arroyo on the beach is particularly good for lunch.

As well as beach activities, Marbella, Fuengirola, and Benalmadena offer a wide variety of night life and restaurants.

There are a number of other activities available nearby (the apartment has a selection of leaflets providing locations, prices and opening times etc.), and these include:

Fuengirola - zoo, water park

Benalmadena - Sea Life Centre, Tivoli Gardens amusement park, Teleferico (cable car ride), crocodile farm

Further afield, you may wish to take the scenic drive up to Ronda to see the spectacular gorge with it's Roman viaduct, the beautiful city of Granada to see th stunning Alhambra, or perhaps the Picasso Museum in Malaga. Maybe a trip to see the Barbary Apes at Gibraltar, or to east of Malage the lovel town of Nerja.
