Exceptional stay!

I and nine friends rented Yorghy’s villa and truly had the very best time. The home is a reason to travel to Crete in and of itself, truly so spacious, historic, and lovely. Yorghy was an exceptional host. We had him organize a chef and a dinner in the house on one evening and it was delicious! Could not recommend staying her more!

The Villa Maroulas Is a Joy

Our family of eight, including four granddaughters had been looking forward to our trip to Greece for a long time. Villa Maroulas did not disappoint. The owner, Yorghy Fokas was always friendly, helpful and totally prepared to take care of us. He tried to anticipate our wants and needs from stocking the kitchen with our first breakfast to providing a housekeeper to come everyday and clean and refresh towels and linens. The villa is absolutely beautiful. One feels like they are in their own private, lovely world once you close the big wooden doors and enter the court yard surrounded by stone architecture, flowers and outdoor living. From the roof top patio to the first floor outdoor dining the villa is spacious but still comfortable and accommodating. The historic Village of Maroulas is small and intimate with two charming tavernas near the little square plus two outstanding tavernas nearby which Yorghy will tell you about. The charming town of Rethymno is nearby as is choice of beaches to enjoy the water. The lovely town of Chania is within an hours drive to the west and the archeological site of Knossos is to the east. It is an historical treasure. Just be sure to be there when the gates open to miss the crowds. The people of Crete were friendly and welcoming and the Greek food is delicious. Our family would highly recommend the Villa Maroulas the the island of Crete

Slightly off of the center of the village, villa Maroulas, combines charm and tranquility full of privacy. Is the ideal starting point to discover the island.

The village, still a secret place, far from the tourist influences, situated on the north coast of Crete is at an equal distance from Chania (CHQ) and Heraklion (HER) airports.

Located at 3km (1.8 mile) from one of the longest (17km long) sandy beaches of Crete. A lot of water sports, tennis, mini golf, beach bars, clubs, and a water park (free entrance) are available.

In the center of the village, you will find 3 taverns, a cheese factory and a herbal store (within walking distance).

The city of Rethymno is situated only 10 minutes by car and is the third city in Crete with about 35000 inhabitants. It is a town full of contrasts where the richness of the past blends with the throbbing student’s life (8000 students).

Rethymno offers its visitors the picturesque charm of the Venetian harbor and the animated narrow streets where you can find traditional shops alongside modern ones.

The market, which takes place three times a week, will really dip you into the heart of the traditional Cretan atmosphere.

Furthermore, we will show you on a map where is the market of Rethymno, the nicest beaches and a few typical villages around.

We will suggest you exclusive itineraries to discover all the island of Crete.

In case of late arrival or during your stay, we can organize a dinner at the villa. Full chef service is available also on request.

You will find everything to prepare your first continental breakfast.

But you would also be able to buy the first grocery on your arrival. The closest supermarket is at 1.5 Km, open every day from 8.30 am and close very late (+- 01.00 am) or, if you wish, we can buy for you a pre-stocking list.

You will also have access, in the responsible cellar of the house, to a selection of local products and the major commodity as a mini market.

Parking is provided for the unloading of luggage at the door (parking space is provided during the whole stay).

We live nearby (4 km), and we are reachable 24/24 by phone.

We can advise you on different types of excursions, book transfers, car rentals,... for you.
