Apple Tree Cottage is a Yorkshire Dales stone cottage, recently restored and decorated. The cottage sleeps 4, in two double bedrooms, and has been lovingly refurbished with attractive furnishings. Apple Tree Cottage is charming and quirky, and has all mod cons, such as dishwasher, washer/dryer and freezer.

Situated in a tiny hamlet on a wooded hillside with lovely views, it is surrounded by Swaledale scenery between Richmond and Reeth. The cottage has a light and airy feel, with a spacious sitting room and a sunny dining area overlooking the "Green" at the front.

You can also enjoy sitting outside at the front of the cottage in complete peace and quiet. Walks from the door. A wonderful cottage for a lovely holiday in Swaledale.

Sleeps 4. Very sorry, but we don't accept smoking or pets.

STOP PRESS: as of January 2018, the cottage has superfast broadband and vastly improved Wifi (free to guests). There's now also an excellent mobile signal in the cottage for some networks including Vodafone and O2.

Surrounded by varied and dramatic scenery in a beautiful side valley in Swaledale, Apple Tree Cottage is away from traffic and you can enjoy utter peace and quiet. Yet it isn't isolated, as it's part of a hamlet of five cottages, only four miles from the ancient town of Richmond, and a similar distance from the Swaledale tourist centre of Reeth. Right on the doorstep there is splendid scenery, many varied walks, wildlife, cycling.. The cottage forms part of a quirky cluster of old stone buildings with an interesting history. Inside, it is warm and cosy and has everything you need for a comfortable stay.

What makes this cottage unique

This cottage is a home from home with all the facilities needed for an easy, relaxing trip away. As we often stay at the cottage ourselves, you should find everything you need. You will find tea and coffee, milk, oil, condiments, herbs and spices, and there will be an initial supply of logs etc should you wish to light the stove.

The dining area is surrounded on three sides with large windows, which open to let in the fresh air, and there is a lovely spot outside to enjoy a glass of wine on summer evenings.

We have tried to make the cottage functional as well as beautiful and the large open air porch and store provides you with space to 'de-robe' and store the things you don't want to take inside.

I would prefer really to keep this one quiet!

We had such a lovely break here - the snowdrops were breathtaking, the birds did not stop visiting, we also had rabbits and a pheasant. The cottage is a delight with everything you could need, wifi is perfect, with not a single issue. It really is a home from home and the owners provide you with everything you could possibly need - a real home from home. We will definitely be back and my son is already talking about our next visit.

Lovely Cottage in quiet location

The cottage is tucked away in a very quiet location with just a few other building at the end of a farm track across a field. It is very cosy and well equipped with everything of a good quality. The owner has added some nice touches with a description of a number of walks right from the door of the cottage. We visited for the October half term holiday and the wood burning stove made the evenings very cosy also the dark skies down the lane made for a lovely little ritual stroll in the dark evenings to look at the stars and listen for owls and other wildlife which our 10 year old daughter loved! I also particularly liked sitting in the little conservatory dining area at the front of the cottage looking over at the hills.

Although tucked away and very rural it's only 6 miles from the market towns of Richmond or Leyburn for provisions.

This was the first time I had visited the Yorkshire Dales since I was a child and the first time my family had ever visited. I had forgotten how lovely the area was and definitely hope to go back soon.

Warning if you are addicted to your internet though, there is no mobile signal on either Vodafone or EE (although there is a landline for emergencies) and the broadband is a bit on the slow side.

All in all a very comfortable cosy cottage in a lovely location.

Lovely quiet cottage

Appletree Cottage is a lovely place to stay for a week to enjoy the quiet Dales. We were 4 adults and the cottage suited us perfectly. Everything was as described and all the facilities are modern and comfortable.

Very good location, very well fitted out.

This was an excellent cottage, in a lovely quiet spot. It was well furnished, very well equipped and extremely comfortable. I would strongly recommend it, and the helpful and generous owner.

I think I'll be coming back next year.

A lovely cottage in a truly peaceful and unspoilt location as the description stated. Great for walks in the Yorkshire Dales with several from the cottage - and there is lots of information about them in the house. Well equipped and nicely furnished - just a few minor things weren't as top notch as we had hoped but we have told the owner about these directly. Well worth going to!

Nice, well - equipped cottage

We stayed here for 5 days and had a good time. The cottage has everything that you need and more besides, although the wifi only worked for some of the time. We explored the area on bikes and had some excellent trips.

The cottage is in a very peaceful and quiet place in Swaledale on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. There is excellent hill-walking, cycling and bird-watching. There are lovely walks from the doorstep: the immediate surroundings are a mix of woods, meadows, valleys, rivers and streams, open moorland, and limestone scenery with cliffs.
