Built in 1743 Jewel Cottage sits on the bank of the Victorian Spa of Matlock, part of the historic "Matlocks" made up of Matlock Bath, Matlock Green and Matlock Bank. The town of Matlock is the ideal place to visit local attractions such as The Peak District and Chatsworth House and eat fine food. Recently totally refurbished Jewel Cottage is a cosy base with log burners and smart TVs, bathroom with shower and bath.

Semi retirement meant a project and I found Jewel and Gate Cottages 100 meters from where I grew up - is that going back to your roots? I've enjoyed doing up the cottages and now letting others enjoy the area.

What makes this cottage unique

Having your own parking (narrow as it is) on Smedley Street is a nice touch and sitting out in the garden watching the world go by is great on those Summer Evenings.

Outside: Garden with lawn and seating to the front of the property and patio off the kitchen to the rear. Utility Room: Small utility with washer/dryer and space for bikes (lockable). Wood and logs store for fire. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and bedding provided - please state how you would like the lower ground floor bedroom setting up (Super king double or twin bedded). Changed twice weekly.

Owner's Response: You wrote "Difficult to regulate heaters (to not) -very nicely decorated and well equipped -cozy - dvd in the Living info on parking and trash cans is missing - walks would be interesting - helpful" Thank you for your feedback we are glad you enjoyed your stay - I understand we have different types of heating in the UK but each radiator in each room has a thermostatic control and these were all updated just six weeks ago so should be working perfectly (if not please advise which is not working so I can check again). A DVD is integral to the downstairs TV but with the Samsung Smart TV in the lounge with all the channels and movies available we decided not to clutter the room with a DVD and do not advertise that we have one. Parking information was sent out twice in the email confirmation and key box information email to the booker and the trash can information and walks information is all in the guest information book on the table. We noticed that the blind in the bathroom had broken during your stay, it would have been nice if you would have left us a note to bring this to our attention to get it replaced before the next guests arrived.
