About this property

Family Friendly Farmhouse - Secluded 2 acres with Private Pool & Stream

Beautifully restored farmhouse set in the small hamlet of Badani, located within the breath-taking mountain landscape of Liguria. Set in 2 acre, privacy is guaranteed. The house has a distinct Italian character with all necessary comforts for a relaxing holiday. It is minutes from footpaths into the Beigua National Park, popular for walking, mountain biking and road biking. Within a beautiful rural setting, it is also minutes away from the village of Sassello. This village was the first winner of the Italian seal of tourism and environmental quality, and has numerous and excellent restaurants, bars and shops.

The house is one hour from Genoa airport, and half an hour from the beach at Varrazze on the famous Riviera coastline. The beautiful spa town of Acqui Termi is some 25 minutes north, reached through the spectacular mountain scenery of Piemonte. Some of Italy's finest wines hale from the rich slopes of this area. Wine tasting in the cool cellars of the many family-run vineries in the area offers a relaxing escape from the summer sun.

Wonderful family holiday!
We loved our stay at this stunning retreat set in the heart of the hills with beautiful views and within easy reach of the Riviera. The roads were pretty bendy getting in and out but the hardest places to get to are always the best! The perfect setting for two families and young kids to kick back and relax, beautifully furnished with no detail overlooked. A wonderful outdoor dining area with BBQ. (We didn't get to use the pool as it was out of season but we made the most of swimming in the river at the bottom of the garden). Lots of space to roam, play and explore and a huge variety of DVDs, games and books to delight young and old on those chilled rainy days. A gentle off road walk along the river into charming Sassello - authentic, rustic and rural Italy at its best offering a great choice of cafes, shops and restaurants and a small Carrefour for top up shops plus more Amaretto that you could ever wish for! Thank you for a wonderful stay in this very special house and area 😊

Lovely farmhouse with close proximity to good walks and cycles
We had a wonderful holiday, the pool was lovely, the house had a large wild garden with a lovely river at the bottom backing onto the main road. Inside of the house was very nice, the kids loved the games room, and the welcome pack of local food was a lovely touch. We loved having bbq every evening watching the moon rise over the mountain.

A slice of paradise
Badan Farmhouse is for sure a little slice of paradise! The location is simply idyllic ,situated overlooking a meadow with nothing but country side (except for the beautiful pool) in the eyes view. A real added bonus is the river and natural swimming pool and waterfall at the end of the garden. We have four boys and this definitely was the highlight of the stay. The house itself is very tastfully decorated and the sitting room at the top of the house a lovely retreat. Dawn was very helpful and provided lots of useful information. The local hosts Tomasso and Carris are extremely warm and welcoming and generous with their time and advice for which we are very grateful.

Great tranquil place
We enjoyed our short stay at your villa. The house was clean and well equipped. We enjoyed the sitting room at the top floor and the lovely pool. The outside area however need a bit of attention ( maintenance of the grass, pergolas). Otherwise the service was second to none. Thank you. We will be back.

We are a family of five, including three teenage children. We’ve travelled a lot, but have found in recent years the pleasures in really getting to know a place. Our kids are quite active, so road biking and mountain biking are great for all of us, and the walking is spectacular. We enjoy the wildlife of the area and the general rural life on offer. Food is important to us, and the local fare is rich and varied: pesto, funghi (mushrooms) and amaretti are the more famous local favourites, but there is much on offer. The vineyards of Piedmont 40 minutes to the north offer great drinking. We have only a small garden in the UK, so we love the outdoor space, and the river at the bottom of the garden in particular.

Why they chose this property

After several years of visiting the area, we bought Badani Farmhouse in 2014. At the heart of Beguia National Park, Sassello’s hills and forests offer stunning walks and cycle routes. But equally, the relaxed Ligurian way of life encourages us to totally switch off when we want. Sassello village, 5 minutes from the house, provides all the facilities we need. And the people are so welcoming. The house is more than we need for our family, with large grounds and, best of all, the river at the bottom. Wildlife abounds, with deer and boar frequent visitors to the meadows that surround. This area is away from the more familiar English haunts of Tuscany and Lombardy, but equally is easy to get to, with Genoa only an hour away and beaches just half an hour.

What makes this property unique

The house is large and well equipped and so offers all we need during our stay. Equally, there is everything we need within the immediate area by way of shops, bars and restaurants, great walking and cycling. Nearby towns satisfy more exacting demands (spas, swimming pools, vineries). And it is easy for people to visit us from the UK as Genoa is so close. Genoa, of course has all the facilities of a big city, as well as Europe’s finest aquarium.
